I am so sick of Carmen and apparently I am not the only one. She has to the be the rudest woman and thinks that her stuff don’t stink!!! She is very sneaky in her billing. She over bills insurance companies for simple cleaning. Here is my story this time. I went for a cleaning I forgot to let her know that my insurance had changed from Delta Dental to MetLife. This was in March in September I received and email stating that she had billed my insurance and they denied the claim therefore I owe 299.00. So I called her and advised her that I have Metife so they should cover the bill. She then went and billed the insurance company 410.00.
When I called Carmen she started stuttering and dancing around the bush and could not answer my question. Why did you bill me 299.00 and my insurance 410.00 She could not answer it. She is sneaky sarcastic and real pill. SO BEWARE!!!
I have done medical billing for a huge medical practice for 10 years if we did something like that we d go to jail.
While I love Dr. Serdar, I don’t like this woman. She will lose more clients from her fraudulent actions. I have called the insurance fraud department they fully agree that something is wrong. So they will investigate.

If you wish to pay $ 500 for a teeth cleaning, then you can come here. This is abnormally high where you can go to other places with good service and receive a teeth cleaning with x-​rays for $ 200. I will not be returning.

Be careful! They charge outrageous prices for a cleaning ($ 500). This is so outrageous that your insurance will come back and tell you they’ll only cover $ 130 of it, and you’ll be stuck with a $ 350 bill.
Make them confirm with your insurance how much insurance will cover. Don’t get surprised with a $ 350 bill!

Very happy with Dr. Serdar, very frustrated with Carmen.
Was very impress with Dr. Serdar. Great facility and very thorough during my visit. Prior to my visit, Carmen contacted me and verified my insurance would cover my visit. The day before my visit she called to confirm at which time she let me know I’d responsible for payment at the time of service. I asked her what my payment would be as she’d previously told me the entire appointment would be covered. Carmen back peddled, told me it was all covered and not to worry. Shortly after my visit, I received an invoice in the mail. While only $ 68 I was frustrated as I’d been told twice I would not owe. I called to inquire about the invoice and I was told someone would call me back. I never received the call.
Months later I received another letter threatening that is payment wasn’t made before the end of the month it would have «a negative impact on credit reports». Frustrated, I called again. Carmen insisted they’d tried to call and that they’d sent several letter to an address that was not mine. Carmen said she’d look into the matter.
I received a voice mail from Dr. Serdar later that evening. He said he was returning a message? I tried to reach him the next day although he was busy and the messages I left with Carmen were never returned. However, I didn’t receive any additional mail or collection attempts.
The morning, nearly a year later, I received an email from Carmen, jingling with smileys and comic sans font… «I’m sorry to bother you but your name appeared on the delinquent account report. Dr. Serdar asked me to reach out to patients to offer the opportunity to take care of the outstanding balance and avoid a negative impact on credit reports.»
While very impress with Dr. Serdar, his administrative staff can’t seem to get it together. Phones calls and messages have gone unreturned and nearly a year later I’m still getting invoices for a routine cleaning I was told multiple times would be fully covered.

Awesome dentist ever. He’s super knowledgeable, explains what he’s going to do before he does it. He thoroughly explains your options when it comes to treatment options. He also does your first teeth cleaning upon your first visit — the best cleaning I’ve ever had. Carmen, the receptionist is really nice and helpful. The best part of the appointment was the view overlooking Union Square!

Can’t speak for anything other than regular cleanings and my dental insurance covers that aspect of seeing Dr. Serdar — however it’s rare that anyone should get excited to go to the dentist, but it’s so relaxing at Dr. Serdar’s office, that I actually look forward to it. The staff are all very attentive and Ivan is a super nice guy.

What an incredible dentist! I honestly have nothing but a glowing review for Dr. Serdar and an even more positive review for Carmen, the front desk gal who helps schedule appointments. Initially, it takes a while to get an appointment because the office is so popular, but believe me it’s worth the wait. Carmen even kept me alert to last minute openings and alternative options, which I happily took, so it’s not impossible to get a convenient appointment.
As for the comment regarding pricing, Carmen is quite upfront with you on insurance, what is covered and what is not. For example, my insurance provided appropriate coverage but my boyfriend’s did not and she made sure I was aware of the discrepancy.
The view is great, the people are outstanding, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but i’m looking forward to my next appointment!

The kind of dental office you look forward coming to.
Professional, thorough but friendly, and kind, Dr. Serdar has a bedside manner to be cherished and the most chipper office manager, Carmen, (who amazingly looks a bit like my mother, who is young and attractive, by the way). I was really comforted during x-​ray time by Heather, who offered new techniques in combating my gag reflex. She knows her business and I appreciated the overall ambiance.
And then they turn on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart while they scrub away and get me all caught up on my dental health. I’ve never felt so pampered and cared for.
… And at the dentist, of all places.
Treasures await us in the oddest places. True story.

Staff and service were excellent. All the other reviews are accurate.
I wish I’d known more about pricing beforehand. My bill for a first time checkup/​cleaning was $ 400 of which my dental insurance only covered $ 100. My fault for not inquiring about price or understanding my plan. Once I’m willing to spend more money on the dentist or I have better insurance, I’d love to go back!

This is the best dentist office in SF. The office manager, Carmen, is fabulous and often emails me within the hour for any questions or clarifications on my coverage. Dr. Serdar is honest and does not push for unnecessary procedures. He does the first cleaning so he can «get to know your teeth.» Plus, every dental assistant has been gentle & thorough with my cleanings (they don’t use that scary drill thing for cleanings; they do it manually). Five star experience, and gorgeous offices to boot!

Most people loathe going to the dentist. I’m the rare soul on Earth that actually enjoys it, due to Dr Serdar, his staff and the surroundings of his office.
From the minute you step off the elevator you are greeted by friendly Carmen and ushered to a goegoeus and modern waiting area with comfortable couches and every great magazine under the sun.
When you are escorted to your room area, you are greeted with floor to ceiling windows that overlook Union Square. Sit down in the chair and you can pick from DVDs or Hulu to watch while having your teeth cleaned, a filling, root canal, etc. I have been so relaxed during these treatments that I’ve dozed off a few times.
The most important aspect however is trusting a professional and excellent dentist, which in my opinion Dr Serdar is the best. I have had my share of dental work done, and really admire his approach. I never get the sense that he is forcing me to have something done – but is honest in his recommendations. And I know that the work he does is of the top notch quality. He is a perfectionist and his work reflects that.

I just discovered Dr Serdar and his practice when our previous dentist retired. (I’m thrilled he did retire because otherwise we wouldn’t have found Dr. Serdar.)
I had my first visit to fix a nasty cracked tooth that needed a new crown.
Dr Serdar was fantastic, the best dentist I’ve ever been to — patient and sensitive to any discomfort I might be having. The high technology capabilities at his facility had my tooth fixed in 90 minutes — including an on site computer 3D created crown. Wow. I am recommending him to every one I know. His staff were also fantastic.
The fact that his office in a great part of San Francisco didn’t hurt either. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

It is really great when you look for a 5-​star business on Unilocal with phenomenal reviews, schedule an appointment with them (despite them being very busy), and then go there and actually have a 5-​star experience.
Staff, overall experience, and Dr. Serdar were all great!
View over-​looking Union Square was just a nice bonus.

The doctor, receptionist, place are great, but just the whole experience they create is amazing, so organized, so clean, so professional, so beautiful, so impeccable…

The most high end office/​service I’ve ever used. I’ve never had a dentist who took a digital picture of my tooth, then showed it to me immediately. I decided I didn’t need all of that, so I’m back with a more basic dentist. Everyone there is fabulously nice, professional, wonderful.
My only issues were that I didn’t want to pay for gadgetry and that they refused to send my records and xrays when I wanted to take them with me to my next dentist. (weird.)

Great service, but really inflexible rescheduling policy.
I called on a Thursday to reschedule my Monday appointment and receptionist said I should have called on Tuesday and now will be charged a $ 100 fee to reschedule. I know that’s plenty of time to find a replacement, as I get calls from here every now and then with last minute openings.
I get they want to incentivize keeping your appointment or whatever, but $ 100 is obscene.

Well, I just had my first visit with Dr. Serdar. It was so impressed with everyone there from the moment I made my appointment (thanks to Unilocal reviews). Carmen was excellent in getting my set up and I’m so grateful she called me to remind me of my appointment. She’s definitely on top of her game.
Heather was patient and attentive when taking what felt like a hundred x-​rays of my mouth.
Dr. Serdar was thorough, professional, and kind. As other reviews mention, he did the first cleaning. I left feeling confident that my dental care is in good hands.

I used to have to pay out of pocket for Dr. Serdar’s magic. And I paid it gladly.
Golden girls while my teeth are being cleaned. Yes, please. And no, I’m not the best patient, but I appreciate his «helpful» reminders every time.
Btw, Carmen is pretty much the best front office person I have ever dealt with. She is amazing – so organized, accommodating, and welcoming.
Great Dental Hygienists too… they must have rigorous screening there.
Lucky for me the new insurance requires no out of pocket. Hoo-​ray!

I went to Dr. Serdar for about 4 years and referred at least 10 other people to see him. I am so sad that I moved out of the bay area because I am now having the worst time trying to find someone who even compares.
Key points:
— Entire staff is friendly, professional, and helpful. Carmen (the front desk assistant) is awesome.
— Dr. Serdar is an absolute perfectionist — this really counts when you’re doing major dental work!
— Very nice office, latest equipment, etc.
— Dr. Serdar is VERY observant. He notices every reaction and makes you feel comfortable about what he is doing.
— Parking is difficult — I usually park in the Macy’s Ellis/​OFarrell garage
One more thing: when you pick a dvd to watch during your cleaning/​procedure, don’t pick something too funny! I made the mistake of picking Will & Grace one time, and I had the hardest time not laughing while poor Katie was trying to clean my teeth!

Dr. Serdar is one of the best dentists in the City. To clarify the reviews before mine, he does clean your teeth on your first visit, but the hygienist does the cleaning there after. They now have TV’s that hang in front of you and you can watch any show you want while getting your teeth cleaned!
I like how they are a «paperless» office, and Carmen (secretary) is on top of her ish! You can literally send her an email and have a response within 15 minutes. My only gripe is that my house doesn’t look like this office… super modern and chic.
