The Perfect Package: Dr. Issa Eshima is fantastic. He has an incredible vision for each patient, which goes far beyond just doing his job. Not only is he talented, but he is also kind and personable. In my opinion, Dr. Eshima sculpts his patients into more beautiful versions of themselves — all in a very natural way. My surgery was very complicated and he did what no other doctor could do. And his staff is very professional. They checked in on me consistently throughout the healing process. I was referred by Dr. Maloof, who is a very good dentist. I was quite pleased with St. Frances Hospital. The staff created a relaxed atmosphere for me in everyway. Pick the color of your bow and Dr. Eshima will create a wonderful package for you in everyway and tie it with your bow attached.

Dr. Eshima is a master craftsman. He brings great passion to his work and is a proud perfectionist, which is something we all want in a cosmetic surgeon. He had come highly recommended and, after our initial meeting, I was confident I had found the best. It’s been a little more than a year since my procedure, and I couldn’t be happier with the results and with the entire experience. Dr. Eshima’s team is of the highest caliber and they literally and figuratively held my hand through the entire process. I look «refreshed» in a subtle but very impactful way, and most people only think I’ve lost weight, have great skin or have returned from a relaxing vacation. But my pre– and post-​op photos show a marked change for the better. I’ve gotten an embarassing amount of compliments and it’s all due to Dr. Eshima’s artistry. I wouldn’t trust anyone else — he far exceeds expectations.

Dr Eshima and his team (Cathy & Magali) are as good as it gets. They are all caring and professional. They make sure that you understand everything pre and post-​op. They call you every day (several times post-​op) to make sure that you are progressing as you should be and make sure to answer any questions you might have.
I am now 6 months post surgery and no one knows what I had done, but everyone compliments me on looking so well and refreshed. The ones who know all agree that I look 10 years younger… That was my goal. To have subtle changes, not drastic ones.
I couldn’t be more pleased with the results of my surgery and highly recommend Dr. Eshima and his skilled hands.

After years of not being happy with my nose and droopy eyelids I began the process to look for a plastic surgeon. I researched numerous plastic surgeons in the Bay area and across the US. I was referred to Dr. Eshima and was happy to find he doesn’t charge for consultations. I visited several other surgeons before meeting Dr. Eshima and when I met with him I felt confident I found the best surgeon. Here are the reasons I selected him:
1. He has incredible credentials, training and years of experience. He is also an artist and can communicate what he would recommend. I did not meet any other surgeon who had his artistry skills and vision.
2. He listened very intently on what I wanted and desired outcome to ensure that my expectations were in line. He helped me understand that a brow lift would not give me the outcome I wanted for my eyes and recommended an upper eye lift instead (other surgeons said to do a brow lift which would have given me that «surprise»” look). He also recommended a lip shortening procedure vs. a lower face lift (he said I was too young — bless him!) and when I saw several before and after pictures of this procedure I couldn’t wait to do it. No other surgeons I met would do this.
3. He is part of UCSF and performs surgeries there, which made me feel safe being in a hospital for the procedures.
4. His office team, Magaly (PhD) and Cathy, are extremely knowledgeable, approachable and nice and instantly made me comfortable.
5. He has a ton of amazingly good before and after pictures of clients. His work is very natural and I did not see one picture of anyone who looked like he/​she had any work done, however the after pictures were definitely a more beautiful version of themselves.
I booked an appointment with him for my eyelid lift, nose (fix prior issues so this would be very complicated) and lip shortening. He is expensive but I would rather pay more for the best and take some other items out of my personal budget. The surgery facility fees were comparable to other surgeons I met with.
The process and outcome
1. Magaly walked me through everything I needed to do leading up to the surgery. She is extremely thorough on what to do leading up to the surgery date to help minimize swelling and expedite the healing process. Her help was so invaluable and it made even more comfortable.
2. Dr. Eshima’s surgical team was over the top incredible and so professional — and funny. I wanted to hug them all for the excellent care they gave me. It was a great feeling going under with his team all being meticulous over every detail of the six hours we would be together.
3. Magaly called me every day beginning the evening of my surgery until weeks after to discuss my progress. It is one thing to have someone to call in case I had a problem but having her call me was so helpful and put me to ease. I did not have any complications and was able to be in public looking good 14 days after surgery. (I was fine about 7 days after surgery but still had some sutures remaining).
4. I saw Dr. Eshima after day 7 and 14 for suture removals. This is not a fun part but he is so fast that it was as pain free as possible. I also had checkups at 6 weeks and at 3 months and have a 6 month appointment too. Dr Eshima ensures all is well with the healing and the look. He is professional and extremely nice. He spendt as much time as I needed which I greatly appreciated, especially since I know he sees many patients daily.
5. My outcome is better that I even imagined. Four months post surgery and I don’t have any scars under my nose. The scar that was initially there started as a very light line that I easily covered with makeup and is now gone. I still have very slight scars on my eyes, but since the scars are in my crease line, it is very hard to see them and I can easily cover with makeup. They are fading and I suspect they will be gone completely in the next few months. My overall look is incredible. My hooding on my eyes is gone and my eyes look bright and alive now. My nose and lips are gorgeous. The lip shortening took years off my face. The best thing is that I don’t look like I had any work done. People whom I haven’t seen since before my surgery say I look great and rested. I have told a few of my closest friends who have to look at a before picture to see the differences as they say the work is so natural, but see a great improvement from my before pics.
Overall, Dr. Eshima and his team are 10 stars.

I have been a nurse for over 25 years and during that time, I picked up a second job, while working in the ICU at CPMC, in the recovery room at Mount Zion. It was at that time, almost 20 years ago, that I learned of Dr Eshima. He had a steady stream of «socialites» coming through and I knew he had to be someone special. I was in my early 30s at the time and not in need of cosmetic surgery, but his name was firmly planted in my mind as the one to go to.
Fast forward two kids and almost two decades later, having now changed fields entirely and practicing medical aesthetics for almost 10 years, it was time! I developed a keen eye for the study of the aging face during my medical aesthetics training and at some point realized the fillers, Botox and lasers were just not enough. Gravity had taken ahold of my face and neck, coupled with a loss of elasticity and in order to keep an aesthetically natural appearance, surgery was in order. I called Dr Eshima.
During the consultation, Dr Eshima evaluated my face, stated I was a bit early, but that I had a good eye when I pointed out the things that bothered me. He also pointed out that I would benefit from a lip shortening procedure and I knew instantly, that he was right. Because of my background in aesthetics, I know that being «long in the lip» is a very aging characteristic and that our eye does not always know specifically why someone looks old, but that this is one of those major indicators. If at rest, we part our lips slightly and cannot see the bottom tips of our top teeth, we are considered «long in the lip».
In spite of Dr Eshima telling me to get at least 5 other consultations, I knew there was no other. Dr Eshima is world renown for his lip shortening procedure because of his meticulousness and art of suturing. It is three layers of intricate specialized knots, where he takes the time to make sure the looped knots are under the suture line, so there is absolutely no tension on the incision, ensuring minimal scaring. He also has a skillful ability to tuck and hide the scars, so they are virtually undetectable, creating a very natural, but refreshed look.
Dr Eshima has treated wealthy people from all corners of the world, including Paris, Geneva, Dubai, Australia and the list goes on… He has worked on academy award winning actors/​actresses, famous models and even royalty. We never discussed names, but because I know what to look for, I can guess with some certainty who these celebrities are. With over 27 years of experience and over 14,000 procedures, I was in a perpetual state of excitement that he was going to be my surgeon.
I had my surgery in Feb, 2016 and my life has been renewed! He took years off my face and I tell everyone it has been the best antidepressant I’ve ever had. Now when I look in the mirror, I more closely match how I feel and I am no longer brought down by my saggy wrinkly skin. I know if I only had the lower face and neck lift, without addressing the lip shortening issue, my surgery would not have been as successful. It is amazing the difference that small, but very key feature makes in making me look younger. Absolutely no sign of a scar, as it is tucked very carefully in the natural fold at the base of the nose. I literally was able to go to lunch with my husband, on day six, when my drains were pulled, without anyone noticing the sutures under my nose!
I cannot say enough about Dr Eshima and his entire staff. His practice is like a finely tuned machine and it runs like clockwork. He may be more expensive than most plastic surgeons in the area, but you get what you pay for and it isn’t something I would want to chance with a bargain basement deal!

A nightmare!!! Only If I could turn back time & have my face back. I went to him April 2014 for a rhinoplasty. I was immediately turned off my his arrogance, but he made it sound like he can walk on water & talked about his celebrity patients. After surgery, results were horrible, he kept saying its swelling and gave me cortisone shots, the deviations will subside, etc. 10 months went by & my nose was worse than before. In fact I now have a bump which he claims is unique & natural. Then he offered to put fillers under my eyes, it immediately resulted into two black eyes, everyone thought I was beat up or in a car accident. I could not go in public for months, hiding behind dark glasses. I still (23 months later) have discoloration, stretched skin, and uneven eyes, which I’ve been told can only be corrected surgically. I need to get my nose redone, it’s big, deviated & uneven. My eyes are damaged with permanent scar tissue, due to the filler. It’s been an ordeal. Wish if never gone to him. I’ve contacted him & all he has to say, is that he did his best & will not refund my money. He said he has the best lawyers. He charges more than triple the price of everyone else! I confirm all of the observations and comments of the 5 star reviewers regarding Dr. Eshima’s skill, demeanor, and evident caring, as well as those regarding his fine and attentive staff, so I won’t repeat those here.
What I can offer that might be helpful to anyone considering cosmetic surgery, is that he offers procedures few (and to my knowledge None in the Bay Area) offer.
For me it was a lip lift, which is really elegant and simple if you think about it, which no one really does until someone with the keen aesthetic and artful eye like Dr. Eshima is involved.
It essentially is like the nudge that straightens a crooked picture on a wall. With Dr. Eshima, even the wall is improved. Knowing just the right amount to remove and taking it from the right place is a true art; doing it so all the layers of stitches in that very active place heal so all the nerves and blood supply come back without any visible scar or functional impact is Dr. E’s special gift.
I now find that when I see someone on the street and find myself looking closely because it seems like they’ve had work because something is off, but it is not apparent what that is, I now find that I discern it is because they had a perfectly competent facelift, undetectable even, but the Dr did not bother to lift the lip, so the proportions remain off. I wish I had had mine earlier. Now I recognize myself. He has numerous of these «little’ adjustments that to my knowledge, only he uses. Getting work is scary and expensive; If you are going to do it, get it done by Dr. Eshima because he is observant, thoughtful and skilled.

When I could no longer recognize the face staring back at me in the mirror, I knew it was time for what is typically called a «facelift». After many consultations with plastic surgeons across the country, I chose Dr. Issa Eshima and never second-​guessed my decision. What he does for his patients is not just a run-​of-​the-​mill facelift. I liken it more to a rebalancing of the entire face, back to what it once was, but even better.
Dr. Eshima pays attention to the details – to the eyelids, which droop and become hooded, and not symmetrically, over time; to the space between the upper lip and the tip of the nose, which elongates as we age; to all the little asymmetries and imperfections that become exaggerated over the years. It is his focus on the subtle readjustment of these elements that separates Dr. Eshima from the pack. (So, too does his technique. His blepharoplasty, for example, for the repair of droopy, inelastic eyelids, is much lauded in professional circles.)
Most plastic surgeons learn the mechanics of a standard facelift and apply them to every patient, assembly-​line style. We have all seen it: the mask; the skin stretched tight across each side of the face. We can spot them a mile away. An ability to look at each unique face, to rejuvenate it, but still maintain the individual beauty, requires a special eye and in innate aesthetic that cannot be taught, in my opinion.
That’s the Eshima genius. It is something that may well lie in the DNA of Dr. Eshima’s family, creative geniuses all – his father, a well-​known architect; his mother, an artist likened to O’Keeffe; and his brother, a brilliant composer and musician. They are aesthetic wizards, each in their own medium.
I grew up in a doctor’s family, and was well-​versed in New York’s plastic surgery scene. I knew the names and trademarks of all the so-​called top surgeons, and actually kept files of article on the latest fountain-​of-​youth procedures, potions, and practitioners throughout the United States and abroad.
From my late 20’s to late 40’s, I routinely had fillers and Botox injected by a New York pioneer in cosmetic dermatology. Even then, I was vain and particular!
When I reached my 50’s, and my mirror image depressed me sufficiently, and injectable tweaks were no longer enough, and were actually starting to make me look like a cartoon character, I made a strategic tour of plastic surgeons in New York and California. Dr. Eshima doesn’t promote himself – no advertising or PR machine. Lucky for me, an international designer with a reputation for a very discerning eye told me about his choice of, and surgery results with, Dr. Eshima. He insisted that I make an appointment.
Sure enough, I found that Eshima was the only one for me. He was different from the rest, both in his approach and demeanor. Importantly, he works only on faces, and knows their every nuance. His academic credentials are stellar, and he trained alongside well-​known pioneers in the field, but there was something tougher to pinpoint…
No hard sell (actually, no «sell» at all), just incredible before-​and-​after photos that spoke for themselves. It was an entirely different approach that looked at the unique characteristics of each face. Dr. Eshima discussed techniques and considerations that I hadn’t heard from other surgeons. I usually overthink every decision, but, on the spot, I scheduled a surgery for Eshima’s next opening. I never looked back.
I soon discovered that Issa Eshima is like a hallowed, favorite son of San Francisco. You notice it in the hospital, where they speak of the doctor with high reverence. When I was in a Union Square store one day talking to salesperson, her response when I mentioned Dr. Eshima was one of awe. Without my prodding, she told me anecdotes about friends who have been to him, and about his magical transformation of eyes.
I had to fly across the country from New York many times, and stay in San Francisco for a few weeks around the time of my surgery. Honestly, if I had to fly across the globe (as many patients actually do), I would have made it work. It is that important a surgery, and, as many famous faces worldwide seem to know, Dr. Eshima is the only choice.
I underwent an eight-​hour surgery, which included repair of my eyelids, a lower face/​neck lift, and nasal and upper-​lip refinement. Six months later, I could not be more thrilled. With a «refreshed» face, my attitude is also refreshed. I feel revitalized and more confident. I was invisible before; now I get attention. People suddenly listen, and respond with a smile.
No one suspects I had a «facelift». Yes, they see a face that’s youthful, but it’s natural and not pulled tight. Without being aware of it, they see a face with all of its elements in proper proportion, in aesthetic harmony. That is the Eshima Effect.
So, don’t overthink it. Just do it. You’ll be glad you did. In the end, your only regret will be that you didn’t put your head in Dr. Eshima’s hands much sooner.

I had a rhinoplasty with alar base resection by Dr. Eshima in August. I’m now almost 6 months post op. People who knew I was getting a nose job and were disapproving beforehand are now unanimously in agreement that it is the perfect improvement and people I didn’t tell never suspected anything. Among my friends we refer to my nose as «New Nose» and everyone is a HUGE fan. It looks great, it’s like the nose that I was supposed to have. I love it.
I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Eshima. I’m a pretty no bullshit individual and he will give it to you straight. Upon meeting him I knew he was the right plastic surgeon for me. There were two things that made him stand out. First, he told me up front that he would not give me one specific «perfect» nose, he would give me the perfect nose for my face. Second, he said that the best nose job doesn’t make the nose more noticeable, it makes the nose blend into the face to highlight the eyes. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Dr. Eshima is pretty old school. I’m in my 20s so that was at first concerning to me. He doesn’t have a website and he doesn’t use computer imaging to show you what your result will look like. If you think about it realistically, this makes sense. I’ve been working for a surgeon for 3 years and while this doesn’t make me an expert by any means, I can say for sure that every patient’s surgery is different. While there are steps that are necessary within each type of surgery there is no way to predict factors like the density of each individual’s bone, the thickness of their skin, or the potential for swelling in their cartilage.
I won’t say the recovery is super fun but Dr. Eshima’s staff did everything they could for me. Magali and Kathy called me every day post-​op to make sure I was doing ok, that I was eating the right things, and even stayed on the phone with me when I was worried about taking some of the dressings out of my nose. Making appointments both pre and post-​op with Dr. Eshima was easy and they worked around my schedule as much as possible. Dr. Eshima was a couple minutes late for 1 appointment but frankly, compared to other doctors I’ve had he was more than punctual.
About 4 months out I was super pleased but was worried about a slight fullness on the right side of my nose that wasn’t symmetrical. Dr. Eshima and I skyped about it (I live out of town but am from the Bay Area) and he assured me that it was swelling of my cartilage and that it would go down in time. I woke up this morning and it’s gone! No one but me would have been able to tell and I would have been happy with the result even if it hadn’t gone down completely but I still had a good laugh at myself for ever doubting Dr. Eshima.
On a separate but very important point, working in medicine has given me an understanding of how important the specific hospital can be when it comes to post-​op infections and general patient satisfaction. St. Francis Memorial has one of the lowest hospital acquired infection rates in the country and has been written up on multiple occasions for its superior care. This was another deciding point for me.
My primary care doctor’s only question when I told her I was having a rhinoplasty was, «Is your surgeon’s hair grey?» While it was funny at the time, I understand her point completely. If you’re going to have plastic surgery done it’s important to find a surgeon who is capable of making the necessary creative decisions and who has a LOT of experience to rely upon. Dr. Eshima is certainly that surgeon and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

As an organizational psychologist, I’m always very interested in people’s backgrounds and how they come to their profession. Dr. Eshima told me that his father was an architect and his mother an artist. It seems to me those two aesthetics formed a foundation for his incredible eye and talent. He has an amazing precision and accuracy and his artist’s eye looks at each woman to know exactly how he can help her look her best.
I had my facelift about 5 months ago now. Here’s my brief story: I was VERY, VERY particular about who I would choose as my doctor. I started thinking about doing this 10 years ago. I’d seen at least 6 doctors for personal consults over the years, and several through photos and telephone calls. Then a friend told me about Dr. Eshima. He isn’t easy to find. No website, no mention in the society pages. But, my friend said he only worked on faces and had done a beautiful job with her friend. I set up a consult.
At first, I wasn’t sure if Dr. Eshima would be my surgeon. I thought he was a bit cool and aloof. He talked about women coming from around the world to see him. I was impressed but also cautious. I spoke to a couple more plastic surgeons. I went back to see Dr. Eshima again. I had read even more in doing my research and a few things stood out. Some surgeons will make a small incision/​cut in the skull to attach muscle. Dr Eshima said he NEVER does that and had another technique. He also used drains instead of post-​surgical wrapping around your head or chin. Of course, his pictures of former patients were amazing. I realized that his extensive experience working ONLY on the face was exactly what I wanted. After I told some other people that I had selected him (my internist, for example), they told me what a great reputation he had and how natural his work looked afterwards. I felt certain that my decision was the right one.
I’m now almost five months post-​op. I am extremely happy with the results and have had only the most positive reactions from others. His sutures were tiny and now disappearing. My hairstylist can see behind my ears and tells me the line is almost invisible. The line in front of my ears is also not noticeable now. Amazing. My friends have been asking me for his name!
Of course, this is a huge decision. I still know that I’ve had surgery and feel tightness in certain spots of my neck. My ears are recently feeling more normal. No one goes into this surgery lightly – it’s scary! But, I firmly believe that Dr. Eshima is incredibly skilled, talented and kind. He truly wants his patients to be thrilled with their results and to go happily into their post-​Op lives. I am very happy with looking in the mirror for the first time in many years. If you plan to have a facelift (I also had brow and liplift), you really must meet with Dr. E. As others have said, he IS more expensive than others. But well worth it for the security and results you’ll experience!

I was referred to Dr. Eshima by my Stanford trained dermatologist who sees surgery results from a wide range of plastic surgeons. She told me flat out that Dr. Eshima is the best.
Dr. Eshima doesn’t advertise nor does he have a web presence. All of his patients are from professional referrals, client referrals and estheticians. He has practiced over 25 years and he specializes only in the neck up. During his tenure, Dr. Eshima has performed 1000s of procedures. He’s so passionate about his work that he rarely takes vacations. His credentials are top notch and he’s personable, energetic, a clear communicator and a good listener. His patient base is very international and includes models, news professionals and Academy award actress/​actors; and he/​staff are very discrete. His operating facility is located within St. Francis Hospital, San Francisco and his regular surgery team — nurses, anesthesiologist and office staff, etc. — is professional and personable.
As proof of his artistic skills, Dr. Eshima has 1000s of before/​after patient photos and his results are very natural and artistic which sold me on the spot. Even though I went to get help with droopy Asian eyes and plan ahead for my neck, I ended up doing it all at once (eyes/​alars/​lip/​lower face/​neck) because his photos blew me away. Most photos that I see (including everything available on the net) may make a person look more rested; but not necessary more attractive because something gets out of balance. Dr. Eshima, on the other hand, will suggest small tweaks that will balance out your face and bring back the V of a more youthful look. He shows you how he accomplishes this via patient photos and it’s easy to see how small changes can make a huge difference. He doesn’t push things on you and again, his tweaks are subtle. His handiwork and technical approach are bar none and he does not rush his surgeries; i.e., mine was over 7 hours. I have complete faith in him and even went back for Asian rhinoplasty. I travel to/​from Hawaii and the results are worth the extra time and expense. His prices give me major sticker shock. But, his stellar handiwork gave me back my cheekbones, youthful eyes (without the deer in the headlight look), a neck from 30 years ago and a more refined nose. My earlobes even came out nicer than before. I had a few small hiccups along my journey and Dr. Eshima never hesitated to fix them. To insure success, bring Dr. Eshima photos from your youth and be clear about your priorities to insure that you are both on the same page. Dr. Eshima and his office staff (Magaly and Kathy) are simply the best.

Dr. Eshima is a first rate surgeon and is without a doubt one of the best in the entire field. He is highly sought after and clients fly in from all over the world for his work. I’m lucky enough to live locally and I’ve had two different procedures with him over the past 10 years. I first saw him for a consultation in my 30s and I’m now in my 40s. The results in both cases exceeded my expectations as he delivered the subtle and elegant look I was seeking.
One of the things I respect most about Dr. Eshima is that he provides an honest assessment regarding procedures and he would not perform something that he didn’t feel would truly enhance your look. In fact, he has recommended that I defer or reconsider procedures in the past.
He is supported by an incredible team. They are professional, courteous and incredibly knowledgeable. They carefully monitored my progress post-​care and ably answered all of my questions. I felt that I had incredible care with their team.
I will continue to refer close friends and family to him knowing that they are in great hands and will not be disappointed with the results.

Seven weeks ago I had a surgery performed by Dr. Issa Eshima.
As someone with a medical background (MD and RN) and working for the past 11 years in San Francisco in concierge medicine I have had pleasure to meet or/​and work with one of the best doctors of various specialties in the area. As an insider, I can tell you that Dr. Eshima has an impeccable reputation as a man of great integrity and one of the most skillful and talented surgeons. He doesn’t take shortcuts. His credentials speak for themselves, he was Phi Beta Kappa at Stanford, top medical student at UCSF, trained at the most competitive residency and fellowship programs, mentored by Thomas Rees, MD (father of plastic surgery in USA), he was a Founder and Director of Plastic surgery department at UCSF. He has performed over 13 thousand surgeries! His specialty is faces, faces only. And of course, he is a Board certified Plastic Surgeon. He won numerous awards for excellence. His results are very natural and beautiful. The average rate of complications after plastic surgery for a good plastic surgeon is 1%. Dr. Eshima’s is 0.05% and its never something major or irreversible such as motor nerve damage (0%), it’s something minor that can be taken care of without affecting final outcome. He operates on models and regular folks like me, he doesn’t advertise, but is booked 3 months in advance. People fly all over the world to become his patients. Dr. Eshima is in a league of his own.
Meeting Dr. Eshima: He is one of the few people you meet in life for whom you have instant deep respect just looking into his eyes and by shaking his hand.
His team is top notch as well. He does surgeries in St. Fransis hospital and even the Anestesiologist he works with is Chief of Department of Anestesiology. The practice offers a private nurse for post surgery care for as long as you want. You are also provided with detailed instructions for before and after surgery care. I had nurse Mary Kay for 18 hours and glad I did, with 25 years of experience she taught me all the tricks for various little, but not so little nuances of plastic surgery recovery. Magaly, the practice manager followed up with me every day for 2 weeks insuring my recovery is going well, and answered all my questions. She has a PhD in plastic surgery. This close follow up made me feel safe and of course, minimized risks of complications (we all know how important is post surgery period). Cathy, Dr. Eshima’s assistant is very helpful and knowledgeable as well. I emailed them a few times pictures of areas of concern and she would get back to me immediately.
The procedures I had: mid face lift, blepharoplasty with ptosis repair. Ptosis repair is usually done by Oculoplastic surgeons, but Dr. Eshima’s skills are so great, he performed this procedure, otherwise I had to have two surgeries or not done it all (on other consultation I had with a plastic surgeon ptosis never came up). Mid face lift could be done using several technics and each doctor goes with what they are comfortable with. Dr. Eshima’s skills allow him to lift deeper structures for more natural results that will last longer with minimal incisions hidden in temple area covered by hair and no bruising! I am familiar with facial vasculature, it’s very rich, I can’t comprehend how he does it with no bruising! Not my dentist, neither my ophthalmologist (they have seen quite a bit of post plastic surgery patients) believed I was only 6 weeks post surgery. They couldn’t even tell I had one. My scars are barely noticeable with no makeup.
Results — I look better then I ever looked In my life. At 50. Not to mention now I look early 30’s, at 50. My Mom said: ”You look the way you looked in your 20 ‘s, you look yourself, but with more defined, bigger eyes. How much was this surgery?” Me: «Very expensive.» Mom: «Hundred thousand?» Me: «No! Not even close. Mom: «It should be. What he did was miracle.»

I won’t make this long and drawn out, I just want to shed light to those considering having Eshima do their surgery.
He did my open rhinoplasty 12 years ago. During my followup appointments I commented on my nose being crooked. He said it was just the swelling and it would even out and proceeded to give me steroid injections in my nose to help the process. I shared my concerns for 1.5 yeas about the crookedness and kept getting the same response– to wait. Then, 2 years hit and when I complained again and asked for it to be fixed because ample time had gone by for it to set, he said it had been too long since the surgery and there was nothing he could do unless I paid again for ‘an additional procedure.’ Today, I have a stud nose piercing on my right side to offset the crookedness.
Over the past 2 yeas I have noticed nubs forming at the bridge of my nose and have been having sensitivity and now pressure (like someone is pushing on it). I went to see a doctor and he said the graft that Eshima took from behind my ear to create a new bridge had separated and is crumbling inside of my nose. He said if a plastic surgeon says that’s their way of doing rhinoplasties, to run. It may last for a short period of time but over time it will come undone and cause pain and problems.

It’s clear to me and others that my plastic surgery by Dr. Eshima and his hand-​picked team of experts is a success aesthetically! To me, the best part is when I catch a glimpse of my reflection in a mirror I no longer wonder who that elderly lady is! Now, my face matches how I feel on the inside. I economize in many ways but plastic surgery for my face wasn’t one of them. Dr. Eshima is the most expensive of those I considered but it is well worth the investment.
When I first consulted with Dr. Eshima he made the comment, «You wore hard contact lenses didn’t you.» «Yes,» I replied, «but how did you know that?» «Your left eyelid droops more than the right and I often see that in people who have worn hard contacts – I can fix that. I’ve worked years to develop techniques.»
I walked out of the office that day convinced I wanted Dr. Eshima as my plastic surgeon! He knew his craft and was also personable. I would get the best results from him. As a retired RN, I’m «fussy» about my health care. I started saving my money.
Three years later I returned for a second consultation but now I didn’t know if Dr. Eshima would even consider me as a viable surgical risk. In the meantime I had undergone an unrelated surgical procedure during which my heart stopped on the operating table. Although my cardiologist had assured me that my cardiac status was now stable, I was unsure if Dr. Eshima would even consider me in light of my past medical history. He assured me that patient safety was his highest concern and that if both my primary physician and my cardiologist could provide a written statement (in addition to an EKG and blood work) clearing me for surgery, he would operate. To further demonstrate how thorough he is, both he and his anesthesiologist, Dr. Ahlberg, took the time to read the written medical record I provided (in a huge 3-​ring binder) including the previous anesthesiologist’s note in the operating room when I had needed to be resuscitated. And after surgery he even remembered to return my binder to me before I asked!
As I was being rolled into the operating room I felt confident that I was in the most capable hands and under the safest conditions (in a hospital rather than a surgi center, a complete team of experts selected and trained by Dr. Eshima, spending the first night after surgery in the hospital with my own private nurse). Dr. Ahlberg, the anesthesiologist, assured me he would «watch me like a hawk!» And he did. I came through the 7 ½ hr. surgery (I had 4 procedures: face/​neck lift, brow lift, blepharoplasty and TCA peel) with flying colors.
And I came through the surgery without complications – cardiac or otherwise!
But I’ve saved one of the best pieces of the story til last! The follow-​up care by the whole team has been the best I’ve ever experienced or even heard of! Receiving daily calls – yes, daily – from Magaly the first week and then Cathy the second week – both RNs with expertise in post-​operative care of face-​surgical patients (In fact, Magaly has her Ph.D. in the field) was priceless. My sister, who is also a retired RN, stayed with me and had studied the post surgery directions we received for each procedure. We both looked forward to the daily call and had multiple questions. Each question was answered patiently – like she had all the time in the world for us! Like I was the only patient!
Would I do it all over again? Absolutely!

I had collapsed cartilage in my nose that I refused to fix, for YEARS, because I was afraid of having surgery. And I didn’t want anyone messing with my face! But as the years went by, it got worse. I’m an actress, and I started noticing that when I smiled on tv (when I smiled, the collapse was most obvious) I looked straight up like a Proboscis monkey. No bueno. Time for surgery. I researched/​met surgeons for MONTHS, but once I met Dr. Eshima? Search over. He was my ONLY choice. Dr Eshima didn’t want to change my nose into a cookie cutter Hollywood nose, (which is what I found in Bev Hills– no thanks, I don’t want to be on the Real Housewives) rather, he wanted to fix what was wrong and make me look «like you, only prettier.» Sign me up. He explained in detail how he could take cartilage from other parts of my nose to build me a «strut» which is basically like he was building me a new roofing system for my nose to keep it straight and stop it from drooping. Dr. Eshima is so thorough in the consultation, answering every question, showing you pictures, explaining each step, that my anxiety went away. Here’s what what went down:
I had my surgery on a Thursday. My girlfriend flew to San Fran to take care of me. We stayed in a hotel a few blocks from the hospital. I was seriously shocked on Thursday when I came home from surgery and WAS NOT IN PAIN. I just lounged around in my room with my friend watching movies. I felt a tiny bit annoyed by the splint on my nose, but THAT’S IT! I followed my post op instructions (that Magaly carefully detailed for me) like a champ. I chugged water constantly, slept, kept my head elevated, iced. Friday I went out for a short walk. I HAD ONE TINY BRUISE ON MY LEFT CHEEK. I couldn’t believe it. (Even though Dr. Eshima had already told me that I prob wouldn’t bruise, I don’t know, I guess I’m a New Yorker at heart and thought that had to be b.s.) It wasn’t! Other than the splint making me look a bit silly, I WAS FINE. I kept thinking, when is the pain gonna kick in, and, it just didn’t. I couldn’t believe it! I held off for years because of my fear of pain! Anyway. Saturday, my friend left and I hung out for one more day just to give my nose a few days before I jumped on a plane back to LA.
I flew back to LA on Sunday morning. Yes, you have a splint on your nose (which is not the best look,) but I just worked it for sympathy. I suggest you do the same. They bumped me up to first class on my way home without my asking– I credit the splint. I went home and resumed my life! You have to take it easy, but life was pretty much business as usual. I was so antsy all week to get my splint off and see my schnoz! Thursday I jumped back on a flight to SF (I guess a lot of people just stay in SF, but I had work to do back in LA, and honestly the traveling was easy peasy.) Thursday Dr. Eshima took my splint off and I cried. My nose was perfect! He told me it would be swollen for a while, that my nose will get less swollen and look better and better over the next few months, but honestly? I loved it from the second I saw it. It’s straight. I can smile and no monkey face. Dr. Eshima… is THE MAN.
The next day (8 days post op) I was ON STAGE performing! I still cannot believe how easy my recovery was. I wish I had done this YEARS ago. What other reviewers are saying is no joke– I keep getting compliments on my appearance «you look so gorgeous these days!» but not on my nose. People do not notice anything about my nose, they just think I look better than ever. Which I do, thanks to Dr. Eshima. I wish I could buy him an island, I’m so grateful. I am also sooooo appreciative of Magaly and Cathy (who also dealt with my 1000 questions, walked me through each step, and called me EVERY DAY to check on me.) This office is where you want to be. Amazing!!!

I am a 30 year old female who had a rhinoplasty with Dr. Eshima in January 2015. I couldn’t be happier and I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Eshima; I only wish I’d done my procedure earlier! I traveled from Saudi Arabia (where I currently work… I am originally from CA) for the procedure and Dr. Eshima and his office were absolutely wonderful and flexible in making all arrangements with me from overseas; they were incredibly gracious even when I had to reschedule my surgery date twice due to scheduling conflicts.
As soon as I met with Dr. Eshima for the consultation I knew he was the right surgeon for me. He understood exactly what I wanted and showed me photo after photo of the impeccable noses he had done. So many doctors post hideous, fake looking ‘after’ noses on their websites but each and every nose Dr. Eshima had done was well-​proportioned and elegant. He told me up front that he was not the cheapest option and encouraged me to consult with other surgeons to make sure I was 100% comfortable. However, after meeting with one other doctor I knew it was a waste of time and that Dr. Eshima was the right choice for me.
And I was right… the results were even better than expected! Everything went like clockwork and Magaly and Cathy in his office walked me through every step of the way and the entire team worked to make sure I was 100% comfortable throughout. One of the most surprising things for me was that I never felt any pain; the healing process is a bit uncomfortable and tedious but although I only took the narcotic painkiller once (the first night) and then switched to Tylenol, I was never in any pain at all. For those coming from out of town I highly reccommend the Fairmont for recovery; if you stay in «Tower» room there is a direct elevator straight from the garage up to the rooms so it is easy to be discreet (i.e. you don’t have to go through the lobby or wait for them to bring your car around).
I met with Dr. Eshima one week post-​procedure to remove the cast and then a week later to remove the stitches right before my travel back to Saudi Arabia. When I told him I hadn’t yet sent any photos of the new nose to my fiancé he was incredulous and made me promise to keep him updated on my fiancé’s reaction… I was happy to report that my fiancé was as happy as I was with the results and repeated over and over how natural I looked and that «Dr. Eshima is a genius.»
The most surprising element of the whole experience though was that, although the procedure totally reshaped my nose (bridge, tip, and nostrils), none of my colleagues or friends noticed I’d had rhinoplasty! As I am a University instructor, they hadn’t seen me for more than a full month over our winter break and when we started Spring semester all I heard was, «you look great,» or «something about you is different but I can’t put my finger on it,» or «where did you go on vacation? you look relaxed… did you get a tan?» I attribute this to the fact that the results are incredibly natural looking– or, as Dr. Eshima puts it, «the nose you should have been born with.»
I was very nervous to do any kind of procedure since I am terrified of hospitals (I pass out even getting blood drawn!) not to mention the fact that we were dealing with my face which means there’s no place to hide if something goes wrong! Two years and 8 days ago today, I met Dr. Eshima and his staff. I was 47 years old. I was impressed with Dr. Eshima right off that bat. He asked the right questions and even recommended that I lose 5 – 10 pounds and that could take care of my concerns. He showed us (me and my husband) pictures of his patients, and we were impressed. 4. My sister came to take care of me after my surgery. She is 8 years older then me. We picked her up at the airport 4 days after my surgery. She said…“oh my. you look like you did when you were young.” I replied… I am young!
So now…2 days short of 9 months after my surgery… I feel and look great. I look so natural. Really it is unbelievable. No one can believe I am the age I say.

You have to discuss your routine with Dr. Eshima and commit to the week by week beauty plan. Yes, this is a beauty plan and I could see how this worked out to get the results. ByJanuary 2^nd 2015, New Year’s Eve party I went and all my friends said «Wow, you look beautiful.» Other comments, «that’s the most natural (face lift) I have ever seen». «What’s the Drs name, do you have his card?» And the best, «what is your secret of your beauty?» Dr. Issa Eshima is my doctor and he’s the BEST. My final photos with Dr. Issa Eshima will be later this spring, I do look at the Professional befores Dr. Eshima took at his office. Just to remember how I used to look like, with all the signs of aging. The real reason I post this is do not mess around, with quick fixes, or any procedures that you have not investigated.

Having modeled in my past, I grew up under that strange dichotomy of being horribly self-​conscious, yet vain. As I entered my 30s, I found that my favorite feature (my eyes) was the one most aging me. What were my «bedroom eyes» in my 20s became my «hooded» eyes at 30. My eyes appeared to have double eyelids, with an excess of skin resting on my eyelid crease. His work is simply masterful. It is much overused in the world of cosmetic surgery to say someone is an «artist.» If the general cosmetic surgeon is an artist, then Dr. Eshima is a genius.
