Cheers to the first Elite outing of 2014, and my first official Unilocal Event in the Bay Area! First off, I have a temporary phone and was unable to prepare a printout of my Elite Pass — a helpful and informative staff member told me I could speak to Jon(a.k.a. the chill dude with the beer in hand, and awesome CM) to tell him my situation. Everything was all set from that point, and I began my trek to the BBQ Bar. You heard right. Ironside delivered much more than what I expected. Hosting TWO nights at this amazing venue, it was an event that I won’t easily forget — even after finishing this review later than anticipated. Not to mention the company I was in. everyone was so friendly and inviting, it made me think that I could fit right in with these experienced Elites. In a nutshell: Was the food all that I wanted in a BBQ? Absolutely, YES! How was the staff? Efficient and friendly. Was the event in good company? You’re dealing with the best of the best! Fancy digs? Oh no. This is down right homestyle. Am I going to another event after this? You bet! Thanks to everyone involved to create a great kickoff event, and I’ll definitely be making a visit to Ironside — with my +10 this time.

I went to night #1 and met half a dozen Elites, didn’t know any of them, what. Afterwards, I noticed Unilocal friends check-ins. Argh, sorry guys we’ll finally meet next time? The event sure felt like those first ever YEEs. Note I was at Ironside a few weeks ago for brunch and the food was just as good then as at this event. The manager mentioned they may change Ironside to West Coast BBQ but have not changed the brunch menu. Recommended. Milestone: first YEE to have never met any of the attending Unilocalers!
