History

Established in 2005.

InsideOut Improv is a powerful tool for personal and social transformation. Language, voice and movement are equally valued for their abilty to express and communicate meaning. The focus is on being fully present, because HOW you do something usually conveys more than what you are doing. The skills taught in the classes — listening and responding, empathy, spontaneity, and a widened expressive range are just as valuable in everyday life as they are in the studio.

Meet the Business Owner

Owen W.

Business Owner

Owen loves to improvise and lives to improvise. He has been performing, teaching and practicing physical theater improvisation for over 20 years — in the Bay Area, and throughout the US. His students learn to integrate their body and mind to create powerful moment to moment theater.

While training as a dancer and creating performance art he entered the world of physical theater improvisation through Ruth Zaporah’s Action Theater. He became one of only six Action Theater Senior teachers in the world.

Owen was member of the International Action Theater Ensemble, Mobius Artists Group, Four Goats and a Virgin and has performed countless solos and ensemble pieces collaborating with actors, dancers and musicians.

He has been a guest teacher at Mills College, Moving on Center, Brandeis University, Emerson College, The Boston Museum School, the Northern California Dance Collective, and Dance New England.

Owen received his B.A. from Wesleyan University.
