Huff Colleen & Associates Pt

Absolutely loved Dr. huff! I’ve been to so many physical therapists and no one has been able to make the pain go away. I’ve had a herniated disk for a few years and tried so many things. Chiropractors, wearing arch slips, yoga. But she is so gentle, great at explaining things and IT WORKS! :D

I had been living with a terrible pain that countless doctors and physical therapists couldn’t figure out. Colleen diagnosed my misaligned rib in one visit, and within a few visits the pain was gone. Amazing! Definitely a few notches above other physical therapists.

Colleen is an amazing physical therapist. And, I highly recommend her practice. She helped me heal a chronic pain in my shoulder and neck. And, after several months of treatment I’m pain free. I trust her so much, she treated my 93 year old dad for mobility issues from arthritis. She’s the best!

It was a pleasant surprise to be treated in such a professional manner, by someone who is knowledgable, and also concerned and friendly. But most important, the reason I was there, a bad shoulder, was immediately diagnosed and adjusted, and appropriate exercises were assigned. I feel great now. thanks. ps. I the last place I went the technicians were required to work on two people at the same time. The PTs were competent and nice, but I felt I wasn’t getting full attention.

I have a friend who is a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). She told me about what her clinic expects in a visit, and it is nothing like what my sessions at this pt. I came in with graston marks on my arms and Colleen was alarmed that they were on me. I had to explain what the technique was. It is an Eastern practice, so I wouldn’t expect EVERYONE to know about it, but the only thing she proceeded to do was glaze my trouble areas with a ultrasound machine.
My PTA friend talks about how she spends time massaging and teaching different exercises to help strengthen the trouble area. I asked for this insight and she told me to get wrist braces. I tried the wrist braces that she recommended and they ended up putting more stress on my fingers. My friend recommended that Colleen teach me how to apply kinesio tape, Colleen just told me to stick with the braces. When I asked her to explore a different technique outside of the ultra sound machine she became indignant with me and told me this was the only thing that would work on me. Since this experience I have been to several other PT’s and they are nothing like this. I just wanted to walk away with some knowledge about how to help my condition in my daily life. I feel like spending 15 mins on a machine that has controversial results is not worth the cost of the service.

I was dealing with sciatica issues for over a month with pain in lower pack, butt, and upper leg muscles. Unfortunately, it took my HMO insurance a few weeks to authorize my physical therapy appointment. Almost immediately Colleen was able to quickly see my hips were not aligned. With a few simple stretches and ice pack application my hips were back in alignment. I felt some soreness for a few days. The sciatica pain has been mostly gone. I’m so happy took the time out of my lunchtime and made the trek from the financial district to see her.

Colleen is the best! I’ve had lots of knee pain for years from playing basketball and other sports. Just started seeing her for treatment a few months ago and already my knee feels the best it has in years! Great treatment, helpful, knowledgable, and effective! Would recommend her to anyone seeking physical therapy!

Messed up my shoulder from pitching when I was growing up. Colleen treated me for a few weeks and it feels better than it has in years. Highly recommend her!

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!
I just received the rudest customer service from this office. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances I had to cancel my appointment. Thinking I would be accommodated, the person on the line tells me «I’m costing them money by not attending his appointment» I mean, WHO DOES THAT? That was extremely RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I will never come back here or refer anyone to this office!

I cannot express what a joke this woman is. Do not spend your money here, or even your insurance’s money. She uses chiropractic pseudo-​language that is not medically correct and spends most of your time applying ice/​heat/​e-​stim (two of three of which you can do from your own home). Her entire motivation is to have you come back to see her again as many times as possible. GO ELSEWHERE!

In full disclosure I only saw Colleen once after being referred by my doctor this summer.
At the time they were moving offices, which they made me aware of and made an appointment for their new office. Fine. I was visiting their new office for the first time which they failed to inform me that the new location is on a hill and the parking meters in the area had specific time limits. Mind you if you are going for PT, you are typically in some kind of pain or have some mobility problems (had severe back problems, walk with a knee brace and a cane). It would have been nice to get a heads-​up as I would have cabbed it. Okay, so after hiking my way up and filled out the forms I met Colleen. I have met many doctors and therapists over the years and just got a strange vibe, I think part of it was due to their office setup more than Colleen. I had my first session and it was helpful and mainly more of an assessment.
Then I go to pay and well they do not accept credit or debit cards, just cash and check. Again, fine but let me know before my appointment so I could be prepared. We agreed I would pay my $ 40 copay on my next visit. Trying to setup my next appt was more trouble than it should have been as I had to constantly remind the gentlemen booking appointments that it has to be a time frame when the meters are available.
I was unable to make my 2^nd appointment and canceled as soon as possible, but less than 24 hours and I got a bill for it. I get it, a missed appointment is money out of their pocket, 1 less patient but this was my 2^nd visit and I couldn’t make it because of the pain I was in to even make it but that didn’t matter. It didn’t take them long to send my info to a collection agency. I obviously owed them 40 but to charge me another 40 was unheard of and instead of dealing with their office again I just paid the 80 bucks. And while it is a courtesy I never did get a call about my 2^nd appointment.
So the 2-​stars is my experience, she could be a great PT but between location, cost and front office, I’ll pass.

I’ve started to see Colleen in the last month and have been getting treatment for my knee that happen to be much more of an holistic approach for my issue. So much so that it has help with another issue I saw a PT years ago for which was never fully resolved. I am still working with Colleen who’s evaluation and treatment is addressing my overall posture and everyday stride. I even have more relief for that other issue, so she knows her trade.
I would most certainly recommend Colleen for your PT needs.

Alright… so this is my first review I’ve written on Unilocal,which means it’s a big deal! So listen up…
Colleen Huff is the first physical therapist out of 4 that have made an impact on my injury (an unbalanced pelvis which caused scoliosis, muscle spasms and aches, and an extremely weak abdomen)… not to mention the 2 massage therapists, chiropractor and acupuncturist I have seen in regards to this injury.
It started when I was in my senior year of college after having two car accidents and holding all my stress in my shoulders and back while hunching over a computer or commuting to school. I started experiencing muscle spasms and pain in my back that caused migraines and insomnia. I saw the doctor at my school clinic who prescribed me muscle relaxers and sent me to a physical therapist nearby. After 3 prescriptions, 5 months of repeating the same exercises and stretches over and over again, and practically no progress, I just stopped going. I attribute the progress I did make during my last months at school to the beginning of my yoga and Pilates practice. I moved home that June and went to an Orthopedic doctor who, when seeing how tight my back was, took an x-​ray of my hips, which were then starting to cause pain, and sent me to a physical therapist in the Presidio. For about 4 months I went to this physical therapist while seeing an acupuncturist and was able to get off of my muscle relaxers probably due to the ultrasound and acupuncture but the over all treatment did nothing for me.
I then went back to my orthopedic doctor, convinced that something else was going on. He ordered me an MRI on both my pelvis and back… the conclusion was that I had an alignment issue with my pelvis. One of my friends had been raving about her chiropractor so I made an appt. I was treated by the chiropractor along with daily yoga classes and regular massage therapy appointments. I started seeing results but once my insurance coverage was up from the chiropractor, I stopped going and reverted back to the regular amount of back pain.
Pretty much, I had made no progress and was extremely frustrated.
AND THEN I WAS REFERRED TO COLLEEN…
I started treatment with Colleen about 3 months ago. I am practically at the end of my treatment… My activity is back to normal, my pain is pretty much nonexistent, and I know I owe this all to Colleen.
Colleen uses a very unique technique to ease up your muscles, balancing you out and allowing you to stretch and strengthen as your treatment advances. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND COLLEEN HUFF because her treatment is the first thing that succeeded after 4 different types of therapists and about 10 different prescriptions. I know, her treatment is nonconventional but it truly works! She really knows what she’s doing and if you work with her, she’ll work with you! Most people expect instant gratification when it comes to physical therapy but it takes time to reverse what has developed over time…
So lastly, a big Thank You to Colleen for your amazing treatment that has put an end to this lengthy search for feeling healthy and being pain free!

Miracle Worker!
I went to see Colleen after my PCP and specialist said I had a sciatic nerve problem. I let Colleen know I had pain for about 6 months and it was getting worse. After a thorough analysis of my symptoms, she figured out exactly what the problem was in my first session — and fixed it! I don’t know that she can do that for everyone but she did for me! She explained everything very thoroughly and gave me some exercises to do to prevent it from coming back. Colleen totally made a big difference in my quality of life! Thanks Colleen!

She cured me 90% in one session. I had severe aching pain in my left shoulder resonating down my back and into my underarm. For 3 months I iced, did my own attempt at deep tissue massage, and nothing. No result. In fact it got worse. When I came to her I was twitching and doubtful. She immediately found 3 ribs out of place and worked methodically and intensely with me until I was almost pain free. I will go back for another round to seal the deal but I’m completely impressed. She is also very caring and great with follow up.

Pro: She is friendly, always on time, quiet office
Cons: I have insurence and only have to pay $ 30 BUT, I am in there for less than 30 minutes. 10 minutes she puts a heating pad on me, 10 minutes ice pack and less than 5 minutes doing stretches or walking or anything. I don’t expect my back to heal quickly but I don’t feel that I have made any progress. My only problem is, I can ice my back and heat my back at home. Should I be paying $ 30 to do that at her office?
I try to keep an opened mind but I’m just not sure if I have or will benefit from my visits.

Huff has changed my life for the better. I was suffering from long term neck pain, after being at work one day my neck had locked up on me and I was unable to move much at all.
After my first appointment I was living in a completely different world.
I had seen a chiropractor and a few other PT offices over the years.
One appointment with colleen and all my problems have been solved, I was transformed.
She was able to unlock my neck by holding my neck and head and having me move, so essentially she helped me to unlock my neck using my own strength.
She is amazing. She knows what she is doing.

Colleen helped me a LOT with my hip issue. My right hip had been bothering me for years. I don’t know exactly how it happened, but I suspect falling on a ski slope. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore and I asked my primary care doc for a referral to a P.T. Yes, her office can use some redecoration, as some folks commented,
and the front desk man should probably wear more office appropriate attire, but I’m telling you, she was great for my low back&hip problem and I feel MUCH better! 4 stars, not 5, because of the shabby office space.

I got injured again and went back to Colleen Huff. I think going to the same place twice is a pretty good recommendation.

Colleen is helpful and supportive of her patients. Although I’ve only been there a few times, she has been open in answering all my questions and offering me advice on healing my ankles.
Today I was in there with a few other patients and she was a great cheerleader in encouraging us to progress in our healing process. She is very friendly and always has a smiling face. I’m anxious to heal these injuries and get running again and I see Colleen as a partner in that goal.
