Catering– Espresso & Smoothie Experience Bars. These services, performed on one of our elegant carts, utilize the highest quality organic products to entertain guests. This service has been recently used by Microsoft, Paypal, & Juniper, to serve VP’s at their product introductions, by Herbalife to spoil their employees at a holiday event, as well as by Hirose Electric as an attention attraction to get leads on potential business prospects.

History

Established in 2005.

HYB started out serving patrons at a train station in 2005. Our quality of products and service style were recognized by various event and convention centers and HYB began rapid growth in the San Francisco Bay Area. Catering began in 2009. We have catered to many of the largest companies in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area.

Recognized by NVIDIA and NetApp as being on the forefront of the coffee industry, How Ya Bean provided long-​term marketing campaign services including catering, social media, and logistics to both companies’ distributors throughout the USA. The results were astonishing. Increased revenue, brand awareness, product training for sales reps. The distributors felt rewarded.

Paul has lived and served people/​customers in various countries. After years living abroad, Paul moved back to the Bay Area and pursued an IT job. While working in IT, Paul dreamed to start a business. Because of Paul’s passion for great coffee he decided his first business would be in coffee. Paul visited many roasters, coffee events/​workshops, and trending shops in the USA to learn about coffee from seed in the farm to the fresh roasting profiles that result in the most savory cup of coffee one could find. for serving the highest quality organic coffee/​tea. We sell only organic Fair Trade/​Direct Trade sustainable coffee products.

My company, Van Daele Homes, opened a community in Fremont and we had How Ya Bean cater our Grand Opening of our model home. It was a success! How Ya Bean did a wonderful job. Having to move the event day three times, I thought it would be impossible to keep the booking with such late notice, but Paul, the owner, worked with me the entire time and was extremely flexible. I would definitely use How Ya Bean for future events!

I was in need for a barista (s) for our company’s Employee Appreciation Day. It was a last-​minute request that needed to happen stat, and Paul made the time and effort to connect with me in regards to any questions or concerns I had, especially since I’ve never hired a mobile barista before and was skeptical of the quality of the coffee! He walked me through the history of his company and went into depth about the type of roasts they have and where they’re from. Upon the day of the event, the baristas arrived on time and went straight to work. They were very accommodating, personable, knowledgeable and extremely pleasant to work with. On top of the wonderful service, the coffee was ah-​mazing! Our employees had a great time with them and were raving about the quality of their roasts all day. I’ll definitely be working with them again and again! Do yourself a favor and get your coffee buzz on with these peeps! :)

I learned about How Ya Bean because the property management company at our 9 story building in San Francisco (in SoMA) has used them for multiple events to treat all the tenants. They were a huge hit, so we brought them in to treat our team last month. When I reached out to Paul regarding rates and availability, I was immediately impressed with the passion he has for what he does. His enthusiasm just radiated through the phone as he excitedly shared about the hand-​made coffee carts made from recycled wood. The carts really are artistic, beyond being highly functional too. The elegance of the carts, the delicious made-​to-​order drinks, and the friendly staff really livened up our office on a Wednesday morning!
Paul was a delight to work with. He’s incredibly positive and friendly — which is refreshing! He’s also very professional, along with the rest of his polished staff. The set up and clean up were seamless, they took care of everything. Even though naturally we had some lines for the coffee (it smelled amazing, and the fragrance of the beverages lured everyone to the lobby!), the team kept things moving swiftly. The How Ya Bean cart was really popular and had something for everyone (different kinds of teas, milks, flavors, etc.). I definitely recommend the How Ya Bean services for other office managers — trust me, the folks at your company will be dazzled & jazzed by the whole experience of having this awesome coffee cart set up in the office.

Great group of folks here. They constantly amaze me with the amount of caffeine they can inject into a tiny little cup that powers me throughout the day. Our company has a long term relationship with them that is longer than my first few girlfriends– and one that would end horribly bad if they were to break up since most of our employee’s are already hooked on their coffee that is superlative beyond compare with the mediocre over-​roasted Starbucks coffee.
Seriously feel like it is Christmas morning when they drop by and my heart just feels warm and fuzzy, or probably from the 7 shots of espresso they feed me. The whole group of them, while very laid back, get the job done and are not chatterboxes but can hold their end of a conversation with some witty banter sprinkled like chocolate covered espresso beans.
Hire them– you won’t regret anything other than the loss of a friend that you feel when they leave at the end of the day.

Can’t say enough positive things —
These guys are professional, friendly, accommodating, and have tasty, organic coffee! What more could a girl want in the middle of a busy workday?! They even offered some seasonal flavors during the holidays — pumpkin spice (duh), peppermint, and salted caramel to name a few.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a low maintenance coffee cart w/​great service for any event or occasion!

I used How Ya Bean for a work event this week and it was great! The first day we had the coffee cart and the second day we had the smoothie cart — both awesome. Paul made booking super easy, and the team that worked our event was so friendly and did such an awesome job. The coffee cart was delicious, they came with a prefix menu but offered to make any requests, and same with the smoothies. Even though they were a little late the first day, they stayed later to make up for it and altogether it was a great event. Definitely recommend them and would use them again in the future! We had How Ya Bean at our outdoor wedding last October and it was a huge hit. Paul and his team arrived on time, their setup looked great, they worked really hard, and he answered all of my many many questions very promptly.
We had unlimited iced and hot espresso service, plus smoothies for ~60 people. I also asked if they could spike the smoothies if we brought alcohol, and they were able to do that, which people loved, of course! There was an extra fee for liability insurance (for the alcohol), but no extra charge otherwise.
Paul was great about replying to all my questions quickly, and he was very considerate about making sure in advance that their setup and attire worked with our theme. They had a cute menu made up that went with our vintage/​rustic wedding.
The service window was for 2 hours, but Paul agreed to setup an hour before service started so that they weren’t setting up during the ceremony. They didn’t charge any extra for this, which was really nice of them, considering it took up an extra hour of their time to be there so early.
I’d highly recommend How Ya Bean for weddings and other group events!

I had the most amazing service with How Ya Bean, for my client’s corporate party. From Paul’s coordination and amazing responsiveness at the event, to his team showing up and making great coffees, everything went so smoothly. They are a little more expensive than other companies, but provided 2 baristas which was great. They also had a choice of beautiful carts to use. Get Paul and How Ya Bean for your next event!

I wish there was a functionality on Unilocal to rate businesses above 5 stars because Paul/​How Ya Bean is just that. My husband reached out to a few different coffee cart businesses, including How Ya Bean, to see if we could get a coffee cart setup at our wedding, and Paul was quick to respond and very communicative. He even sent us a bag of beans to try (he roasts them himself!) and they were quite delicious. We decided to move forward and coordinating with Paul to come to our venue and setting up the amount of hours and logistical stuff was smooth and seamless.
Paul gave us a great plan for the amount of hours he and his partner would be serving our guests coffee at the wedding and he was also flexible to allow us to use our own cups, too. We had the standard lattes, mochas, and coffees served at our wedding and there was also a secret menu that I later heard from the guests! They were a huge hit and I highly recommend hiring Paul to serve at an event like a wedding because you will receive praise and compliments for days. They were quick to set up and break down and everyone loved them. We will definitely be recommending How Ya Bean for any big event we hear of and using them for ourselves again if we are in need of a coffee service. Thank you so so much, Paul! As a former and forever employee of Paul Vogt and How Ya Bean. I have never had such a beautiful fun experience then here at How Ya Bean. This company has broadened my horizons to something I had never really knew, coffee. The coffee used for this company is so phenomenal and freshly roasted it’s amazing. My favorite and specialty, the almond milk white chocolate hazelnut mocha is to die for, for you sweet not so sweet hazelnut lovers. The Cubano style is just amazing if you like to add some sweetness to your espresso but not drown it don’t be afraid to take a little risk (espresso lovers). All the employees/​family are all extremely beautiful free spirited people. All who care about the satisfaction of the customer. Nick and Angelika the dynamic duo know how to kill it at any catering job, Christina the newest member to the bean team has made her mark at this company learning everything to help keep it running and accept information from every member of the team. Chris McIntyre, longest bean member on the team, loyal and smart and always has an answer when things go wrong. The stakes that keep the fort down when the storm comes in. Then there is dear Paul, owner and man who made all this happen. The inspiration and motivator to us all, difficult at times but what owner isn’t? Paul has taught us that it isn’t just a cup of a coffee, this cup of coffee can make someone’s whole perspective on their day better and that we all have a big part in that. I seen and have experienced in the three years I have been with this company that this company is going to do big things. Yet the most beautiful part about it is, is that it’s not about the revenue but about the satisfaction of every single person who tries the coffee. How Ya Bean comes to my office on a regular basis, and they always do a great job!
It’s super that they can serve so many options. They offer a full variety of beverages, including tea (good brands like Mighty Leaf and Numi), chai drinks, and hot chocolate. Of course, they make good espresso drinks, too. Served with a variety of «milk,» including almond milk.
The staff is friendly and professional, and they make a solid cup of coffee. I even witnessed some nice latte art this morning :)
And as you can imagine, coffee drinks in an office setting? On Monday AM? Quite popular. So there’s always a line. But the How Ya Bean staff keeps it movin’ quickly.

Been a fan since day one when Paul and his team came to our office in Belmont for the first time. Now having moved our office to San Francisco, I am able to enjoy How ya Bean coffee every Monday morning.
