This review is for the old lady with a bowl dog like haircut. Her customer service is terrible and her attitude defers people from wanting to make a purchase in store. The fact that she presents Hermes makes me wonder how well the management is. Sure, I buy from them because of their quality and reputation. However, I’m definitely not pleased with how they treat their customers.

Just left the Hermes store with my wife. She knew what she wanted to buy, but we could not get anyone to help us. Yes it was busy, however no associate would even make eye contact or say ‘I’ll be with you in a minute’. Guess we’ll buy online.

Amazing place, great selection and love the customer service here. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about the brand. I think Hermes is one of the best customer service providers in the business. Never had any bad experience here in the US or internationally.
Definitely a great place to shop in San Francisco besides Chanel.

I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon looking to find some items to upgrade my wardrobe and find gifts for my significant other. Luis Galan saw me and offered to help me right away. He was excellent as he helped me find his and hers belts/​buckles, wallets and ties. He knew his inventory well and showed me all the options with their variations in style, leather and color while giving me a little history of Hermes and tidbits about the unique characteristics of each option. I found he had great friendly advice that helped me come to a decision while deciding between different options that made shopping at Hermes both comfortable and efficient. I found what I wanted and really appreciate them. For the items where I couldn’t find the color I wanted Luis kindly offered to let me know when they get something in. Looking forward to coming back.

There is no question that HERMES is it. Period. However, their customer service for their expensive (stainless steel buckles) «comes out the horse’s ass.» Period. Sending everything to «Paris» is more «Horse Shit.» Perhaps New York could open a wee bit of a real service center. Oui?

I just visited the San Francisco store on a short stay in the city. I made an appointment with Jessica to pick out some gifts. She was so lovely and patient while I looked at the options and made my choices. She didn’t rush me, and I felt like I was the only one in the store! I am so thrilled with my choices. I will be sure to visit the store and shop with Jessica again.

Purchased my first Hermes item and am so happy. I was promptly greeted by several salespersons when I walked in, but I had been told to ask for Johanna. Johanna is fabulous and provides exceptional service. Next time I’m there, I’ll be certain to ask for her.

Took my bag in for a spa and expected it to be a really long wait but the craftsmen worked his magic and got it refurbished within 2 weeks. Awesome service and 2 thumbs up to Luis who got me an extra dust bag.

I had a really fantastic experience with Jessica, The Selling Supervisor. She exemplifies the best in customer service: patience, knowledge, and friendliness.

Whenever my boyfriend and I are in the city, we make the effort to visit Jessica at the San Francisco Boutique.
Jessica and the entire staff are attentive, patient, and passionate about the brand. What I find most impressive about Jessica is that she has the ability to truly share the brand experience in a personal and genuine way. My boyfriend and I have been to a handful Hermes Boutique’s around the world and the US-​and we still come back here to intentionally shop with Jessica.
The store selection is extensive and the environment is warm. I personally look forward to many more visits with Jessica, and many more Orange Boxes to blissfully bring back home. My best tip is to simply be patient, courteous, and have fun – what you give is what you get.

I was there yesterday, and while my husband was taking care of bill i was checking out scarfs and bracelets. Hermes staff didn’t take me as a serious buyer probably because im nine months pregnant caucasian girl who didn’t wear any Hermes, hence when i asked if i can use the bathroom they told me to go to Neiman Marcus or use a parking bathroom. Hermes staff of San Francisco, nice way of treating pregnant customer who just spend thousands of dollars in your store!

My most recent trip to Hermes to finish up some last minute Christmas shopping. I was greeted within minutes and was helped by Barbara. It was a very pleasant experience and she was more then helpful. It was pretty busy that day due to the holidays but buying, paying and getting everything that I needed was very quick and painless.

Really — can you all get over yourselves??? The service at Hermes in San Francisco is disgustingly dismissive and rude. Am upset I put up with it… at all! I bought a bracelet today and the salesperson could not move on from me to the next «client» and execute my purchase fast enough… even tried to just «dump» the sparsely wrapped package in my purse. She simply had to wait, as any salesperson (oh…excuse me… they like to be called «sales associates») would appreciate, until I carefully put my credit card back in my wallet. A truly miserable experience and I will never go back again.

Jessica and Michael were fantastic to shop with. They were very knowledgeable about the designs and production, as well as care of the scarves. Most importantly, it was fun, no one was rude or snooty, and certainly no pressure to buy. They helped me inspect and try on a multitude of scarves. We walked out with a nice silk twill 90 scarf for me and pocket square for my boyfriend as a bonus.

Hermès never disapoints and my go-​to sales associate Barbara is no different. She and Negaar (who is no longer there) have provided me with such great customer service throughout the years. They know I have aquired taste and always work with my every need. I never feel obligated to purchase anything I am not 100% sure of or know I have no use for.
Barbara is very knowledgeable, patient and always meets my expectations. I rarely walk out empty handed. She is simply the best!

First time we were wrapping up our purchase and it was 10 minutes after their closing time. It’s not our fault that their process of taking merchandise in and out is so slow to begin with and when we were taking care of the payment she had a big frown on her face as if we are inconveniencing her. I can understand if we were just browsing but we were buying!
I’m not even going to write about the 2^nd time because she made my blood boil. I really hope someone fixes this issue.

Worst service. Workers would rather talk to themselves than help customers. Seem like they only took care of chines customers. I expected more from a high end store. Would not return.

I just received my new credit card and wanted to treat myself. WORST SERVICE EVER!!! I will not return and I will tell all my friends not to shop here! They followed me around not knowing I had a numerous amount of money on my credit card to spend! The sales representative are snooty and they just lost a sale and a great customer! Hermès train your sale reps on proper sales etiquette and cultural awareness!!! Is this how you treat all your customers??? I have shopped at many high end stores but NEVER did I experience this! Hermès shame on you!!!

I purchased my very first (and hopefully not last) BIG Hermes purchase recently. I was helped out by several people, all of whom were very gracious, kind, welcoming, and patient; much, much more so than the staff at Chanel.
Jessica helped me out over the phone, Antoinette assisted me while I waited for Arlene to return from lunch, and finally Arlene took very good care of me. She educated me in all things Hermes and chatted with me about my likes and dislikes.
Compared to other high end retailers, I really liked the staff at Hermes. Chanel at Neiman’s and the Chanel store tend to be pretentious and snotty at times and I kinda went into Hermes anticipating the same airs, but I was wrong.

I really love this designer. I love browsing around and taking my time shopping. BUT, what’s up with these uppity salespeople. Excuse me… Judgmental and rude. Are they trained to be so annoying??? They need to take lessons from Hermes in Manhattan. Go figure!!!

I bought my wife a $ 1200 bracelet at the Hermes boutique at the Wynn Las Vegas. I asked the salesman there if my wife could return it at the store in San Fran where we live if she wanted something different. He said of course! She wanted something else. We went to the SF Hermes on a Sunday and they were closed, even though all the other designer stores around Union Square were open. Well, the summer got busy and a couple of months went by. We finally got around to getting into the Hermes store again and they refused to exchange it because it had been more than 30 days! The bracelet was still wrapped in its original plastic, and the salesman tried to tell me that the leather could «oxidize» over time. My wife was willing to exchange it for other bracelets, but they refused to budge. It’s still a current collection, and they were even showing them in their display case. I will NEVER shop this brand again. No other luxury designer brand that I know of would offer customer service this terrible.

The décor may not be as resplendent as nyc or as updated as beverly hills, but the sf Hermès boasts a decently sized space on one level and friendly staff. As at all H locations, product knowledge will get you far with the staff and will separate you from the casual surveyer. Know the difference between togo and swift, between blue sapphir and blue electrique and you will be in great shape. Special note: H sf is one of only 4 – 5 H boutiques in the usa that features an in house restoration and repair shop. You must take your items there in person now (no more mailing them in), but the superlative attention of repair manager Merna Oeberst and master craftsman Dominique will show you that not all H repair options are created equal. Their work is without peer, and has always exceeded my expectations. Just remember to plan ahead– depending on the work that needs to be done, you have to wait a few months. It is worth the it wait.

I have been shopping here for many years, specifically for handbags, scarves, and ties. It is an exceptional store with very friendly staff. The suggestions Barbara has made for me have been a hit with all of my girlfriends.
My only complaint is that there are no mens shoes here. Although I did not look throughout the entire store, I saw little mens selection. The only other qualm is that I had to stand while deciding on my purchase, and I was not offered anything to drink. After spending $ 35K+ there, I would expect a slightly better shopping experience.

I love this boutique, the friendliness and boosterish of the salesmen made my stay here inviting.
I’ve been wearing my unworn, unbroken in loafers all day and felt like buying a new pair of sandals so I can walk around the city in.
I bought their Oran sandals in a pretty white and the lady helping me was nice enough to store my shoes in the dustbags and carriage so I can walk out with my new sandals!
Although No one welcomed us or opened the door — It felt a bit snobbish at first until they warmed up to me, but that shouldn’t have been a problem in the first place :).

I accompanied my friend on a rainy excursion during some free time in the city and ventured into the more high-​end part of downtown retail.
We weren’t dressed particularly nicely or anything, didn’t give off the rich foreigner vibe. Basically looking like we don’t belong in the store. That might account for our less than pleasant experience here.
We came in and browsed around till my friend found what she was looking for. A saleslady nearby greeted us curtly. As my friend started asking her questions, unsure of which would be the appropriate measurements. She replied rather coldly and was not helpful at all. She wasn’t even trying to sell the product.
It was only after my friend expressed that she definitely was going to purchase something that the lady finally warmed up. When my friend couldn’t make up her mind about which style to get, that’s when the lady definitely turned up the charm, suggesting that she should get both, telling us her personal life story. The schpeel. I understand that’s customer service, but it was too apparent that she couldn’t care less unless we were going to buy something because we didn’t look the part. ‘SCUSE ME.

This is the friendliest Hermes store I’ve ever been. Jay went above and beyond to help me, was sincere, and was just so awesome! And even in the past, I’ve received great customer service every time I visited (and even when I didn’t purchase anything).
But I had to take out one star because this place is SO packed on weekends, I feel like I’m at the Union Sq. Macy’s. I guess there’s nothing they can do about it… But still?

I recently purchased an Hermes bag online and am having it shipped to Portland Oregon because there’s no sales tax there. So when I saw the store in San Francisco I had to stop in and see the bag in person. The sales lady was nice enough to go in the back and show me one of her customers bags that was on hold because it was in the color that I ordered. The bag is beautiful I am so excited for it to come in the mail. She even showed me different ways to use it.
I ended up purchasing a twill scarf for my bag to protect the handle and add a little bit of flair. She got out a giant selection of them and I think I looked at over 50 different scarves until I pick the correct one for my purse. She was so helpful very friendly and even gave me a booklet on how to use my scarf in different ways.

Recently saw a really cool ring in Harper’s Bazaar & discovered it was Hermes — thought it was my lucky day, since there was a store so close by
Right from the start, the sales guy seemed completely inconvenienced that I didn’t immediately know which ring I wanted… available in smaller & larger versions & I couldn’t decide between the 2 styles b/​c the small seemed a bit too small while the large seemed a bit too big.
Adding to my noncommittal outlook, was the fact they didn’t have the color I wanted, plus only the smaller ring was in my finger-size…I had to «imagine» what the larger style would look like as the only one they had in stock was too small for my finger.
Sales guy advised they would have to order the larger version if I wanted it…& I’d have to commit to the purchase (what?!)
Well, there’s no way I’ll agree to purchase something w/​out trying it on to see how it looks & the obvious frustration from the guy who was helping me, made the final decision easy
No sale for you!
Maybe if you had demonstrated a modicum of customer service & approached it w/​something like, let’s order it & once it arrives & if you find you don’t like it, we can take it as a return? Or better yet, how about getting the ring shipped to your store & if I don’t like it, just keep it in your stock… why tie up my credit card?
Making it easy for customers to purchase from your store, ensures happy, repeat customers… from my experience, I am not & will not be one of them

Well they both involve sinful decadent acts which you can ill afford, but when you go in anyway, and waste some hard earned CASHOLA on some slutty overpriced stuff, you feel extreme guilty either way.

A Herpes outbreak can be treated with drugs and you can get rid of it in a few days to a month.
A Hermes credit card bill can haunt you for much longer.

Thankfully I have mostly stayed away from either one, by proper prophylaxis.
Hermes can be treated effectively by leaving your credit cards in your wallet & looking too rich too be tempted by the goodies as you loudly proclaim, that this or that «major» detail of an item does not meet your exacting standards… and then very casually ask for
FREE testers of the various Hermes fragrances, as if you are doing them a great favor to take them off their hands.
You can use the following excuses:
1) My maid or butler forgot to pack my Hermes fragrances in my LUX luggage…& they will be flogged for it, unless I get a few TESTERS!
2) That damned LUX Jet that I rented, lost my Hermes fragrances. Now I will have to fly lousy first class with the commercial peasants… and you know the stink of these people… so I need to anoint them with some new types Hermes Fragrance, but need to pack light for carry on… so I need lots of TESTERS!
3) Now that I have a bunch of TESTERS, I really need a Free LUX Hermes bag to carry all of them back to the Ritz!
4) Me French,

Somehow, I have managed never to actually buy anything here, but have bought a whole bunch of Hermes towels on BlueFly on sale, years ago. The LUX artwork Beach towels at $ 450+ each, make nice leather recliner covers. And the «Ordinary» bath & hand towels work just as good as any high quality cotton towel that you can get in Bed, Bath, & Beyond, for much much less…
but it is a pleasure to wipe your poor sorry ass with a swipe of French luxury cotton.
Other Hints:
You must dress really nice before you pull anything in this store, so absolutely wear your Gold Rolex (not the Chinatown fake one), shoulder your LV Camera Bag (not your Target bag), wear your Loro Paina Sweater (not your Costco Sweater), and have a large 2+ carat Star Sapphire ring on your finger (and not your Stainless Steel Superman Ring)…
otherwise they may call security…
and whatever you do…

OTHER RANDOM RUMINATIONS: Like most LUX stuff, most of Hermes is way overpriced poorly crafted pretentious crap that is a total waste of money at almost any price.
Even their $ 300+ baseball caps do not fit right, nor feel comfortable. The few Men’s items are incredibly boring. The French really do not really get Men’s Fashion, nor lots of fashion right (except for some Jewelry & Glassware). Now the Italians do a far better and far cheaper job with many types of items. I really prefer the far more fashionable & frugal Missoni towels & bathrobes over all other LUX designers almost any day of the week. I love Loro Paina Cashmere which seems downright cheap compared to Hermes, and is of the highest quality. One problem is that I have to order direct from Italy, for my Missoni towels (via Ebay), and direct from Japan for kitchen luxury knives & electronics (via the net).
…And as many people commented, the people here can «ignore» you (or judge you NOT WORTHY) for long periods of time, where as in Loro Paina, Armani, Ferragamo, & Boucheron, you are generally treated in a very fine manner, and act more professionally.
Come to think of it, LV service generally stinks too (it is almost worse than getting served cold greasy Dim Sum by nasty old Chinese ladies)…is it the French snotty influence?
Like most, I have a love/​hate relationship with the French… I love their food, their cheese, their Truffles, their bread, their Sous Vide technique, and their Champagne… but really hate their anti-​American/​English attitude.
