Our design philosophy is based on innovative design, grounded in a respect for continuity and context, particularly in the urban setting. Our designs express not only a functional purpose, but also physical and social context, thereby ensuring quality and relevance for generations to come. Ours is a timeless philosophy.

Our portfolio includes a variety of project types ranging from master plans to in-​fill buildings, sleek high-​rise office towers and transportation facilities to historic and civic renovations. Our design is done with a common characteristic: high-​quality, cost-​effective design that is sensitive to the end users’ function. Each new commission is treated as an individual project with distinct attributes. We take these challenges and create the ideal design solution exclusively for the project. Longstanding client relationships and repeat business is a true testament to the success of our personal approach to design.

Jeffrey H.

Business Owner

As President, Jeffrey founded the firm in 1984. He is a leader in the profession and green movement with some of the first sustainable architecture and large scale urban planning projects in the US and China, including the first LEED Gold office towers in San Francisco and Shanghai; the first LEED Platinum neighborhood development master plan; and sustainable/​livable master plans for Guangzhou’s North and South Axes, Shanghai’s Yangpu Waterfront, and Ulanhot, Inner Mongolia. His work in China often now involves high speed rail land use implications.
