Came across this place after hanging out at Dolores Park. The atmosphere and attitude of staff was wonderful. I adored the 50’s music. First time I’ve had unsweetened chia… amazing! They make it themselves. Can’t wait to come back and try their food!

Came by to grab a quick latte on a Sunday morning. We got super friendly service and delicious drinks. Haven’t tried the food but it looked yummy. Appreciated that they had milk alternatives(soy & almond).

Love the new menu! I was I need of a quick breakfast the other day and I saw the«under new management sign» in the window so I stopped in! I grabbed a bagel sandwich with some ham, egg and smoked Gouda. It was super tasty and very high quality. Not your generic bagel sandwich. The coffee here is also good! It’s just a quality place all around! I will hit up this spot again!

Love this area of the city. Happened to come across this place while parking for another lunch spot that had too long of a wait and decided to check it out. Apparently the café is under new management and they just recently opened with their new menu a couple weeks ago. Seems like the current manager has plans to make some drastic changes in the near future. But we had Americanos, some pastries, and one of the most savory paninis I’ve ever had. Seriously. Music playing was on point and the atmosphere was super chill and cozy. Will be back again!

Always wanted to check this café out but it’s never open during the day when I pass, including now when it should be open. Shame.

8 $ for a Roast Beef sandwich? Worth every penny! It is not just cold cuts on store bread. I was worried I was going to get the SF let down. Pay 8 $ for a sandwich and it is not worth the money but it was just the right bread, cheese, and sauce. Also thank god someone figured out to use spinach! Much superior to lettuce. I would go back. The owner was behind the counter. He was totes cool. Seating may be limited but in the European style just share space. I liked the place and the food very much!

So, I walk into this place with my computer and as usual the guy behind the counter is bordering on surly. I expected this because I have been here before. I order the bagel and eggs, and it is just that: a dry bagel and a rather nasty scrambled egg slapped on top. Nothing else. Wow, I think… that is harsh. No butter? Nothing else? Then my phone rings and I answer quietly. No one else is in the establishment besides me and the proprietor. He comes over and interrupts my call to tell me that I am bothering the other customers(HUH?) and then walks outside to chat with friends. I am now alone except for an older woman who just showed up and may be his mom. I continue to chat on the phone, and end the call. Then I notice that I no longer have wifi. He must have turned it off before he went outside. By going outside, he precluded me engaging him concerning his sudden lack of services. I logged into xfinity(I will show him!) continued my work and then left. There are many fine establishments to patronize in the Castro. Many love to have your business, have wifi and are not passive aggressive. Café Sophia is an example and is nearby. Why put up with this man’s horrible behavior? I hope this man goes out of business. Period.

Nothing like ordering a drink, thinking you are going to hunker down for awhile and work, only to get told, 30 minutes later, that the café is closing in 5 minutes, at a random moment in the middle of the day, hours before the stated closing time. Luckily there are many other neighborhood cafes that keep reliable hours.

I like this place a lot. It’s got a very mellow atmosphere and, especially if you come earlier in the morning, it’s not hard to find a space to sit, relax and enjoy your breakfast sandwich and/or coffee. Great playlist too– when I was here they were playing bossa nova, so they get extra points for that :)

Hassan, the owner, is well known by many and I know a lot of locals really love this place, however, I have been in 3 times now and no matter how sweet I have acted I have yet to get an ounce of kindness, respect, or care from this man. He will barely glance at me, and it would be absurd for me to even expect a smile. Also, the coffee here is no where near as good as places that are just blocks from here. I recommend Café Sophie on 16th street as a much better choice. My last visit resulted in quite and embarrassing experience. I got food nearby and I desperately needed a safe haven. I thought H café’s atmosphere might be nice to calm down in after getting some really devastating news. I sat down and observed everything around me. I was breathing deeply and checking my surroundings and I decided this was a safe place to de-stress. I looked over at Hassan to make sure he did not seem offend by my presence and he seemed to not not care that I was chilling there. I pulled out my food to wait for the line to die down before I ordered a coffee and before I even had my food item out of my bag I heard«Don’t eat your food in here! What are you doing? Get out!» Shocked and embarrassed I looked over at Hassan and said, «oh. I am so sorry… I didn’t realize.» I thought in my head that this was a coffee place, but maybe I was mistaken and it is more of a restaurant — which I then could understand how he might feel offended. I felt terrible, I assumed he did not think I intended to order anything, but I wanted to make it clear I was not just trying to use him, so I went up to the counter and humbly asked, «May I stay and order a drink?» He said«No, you need to leave — I am going to close» — it was 1pm and you can see on Unilocal it says he closes at 5pm. I looked around me and there were many people around, a line to order, and people coming in and out. I accepted his answer, gathered my things, and left the building.

Hello all, I’ve been here a few times and generally enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and coffee. This past weekend, however, H café was super busy and when my sandwich was brought out, it had human blood on it! I understand they’re working in a fast paced environment, but to have a cut on your hand and not even notice is downright ridiculous and careless. I immediately threw the food out and left as quick as I could. Needless to say I will not be returning to H café. Extremely unsanitary conditions and they’re always understaffed.

Omelette = delicious. Piping hot. Patience will pay off. Latte = delicious and strong. Prices = reasonable to moderate. Service = friendly. I love the openness of the place.

My favorite café in the city! This is my first Unilocal review but I just had to spread teh good news. Cheerful, sunny atmosphere, plenty of space and outlets if you want to study. The owner, Has, is the best part: he creates a kind of ‘Cheers’ mentality where he knows all the patrons who come in and all the regulars’ orders. Always smiling and chatting with someone at the counter. The toasted sandwiches and lattes are also delectable and made with love.

Patron super cool qui nous installait une petite table loin de tout pour fumer une clope tranquille. Petits déjeuners copieux et savoureux. Et des bonnes adresses ou des bons plans en prime de la part des habitués du H café. PARFAIT!

The owner puts care into every dish or drink and he is hilarious. Great place to work(wifi and outlets) w delicious food. Today I asked him to surprise me and got the most perfect egg avo and cheese quesadilla! If I lived closer I would come more often but for none I happily make the trek!

This has always been my favorite coffee place in the city. Has, the owner, is the nicest guy. Hadn’t been able to come to H Café, like I used to every week, over the last few months, and when I showed up again one morning, Hassam remembered how I liked my coffee and all. H Café has a great vibe for people who want to hang out, as well as for people who want to work. It has great coffee(really great coffee), amazing sandwiches and wifi/outlets.

I have come here several times to work on my laptop and it’s another hit on my «best places to work in SF… or at least around where I live». Pros: — plenty of seats & outlets — actual food & drink, though I have not tried the food here yet Cons: — closes at 5PM — wifi is generally stable but occasionally not speedy enough for me for VPN work(my job is all remote VPN + SSH, so puts pretty high demand on wifi) By the way, Café UB is two blocks away and is another place I recommend for working. Café UB has more stable and speedy wifi than H café.

This is literally my favorite place in SF for everything. H is the best and nicest possible human being in the world. He also makes the best food. Hummus is homemade, his hot sauce is so bomb and also homemade with secret ingredients. I wake up in cold sweat sometimes craving his breakfast sandwiches. I’m torn about writing this review. It’s a neighborhood place — made up of the awesome people who go. I also don’t want to rave about it too much on Unilocal — so that it gets on the radar of Unilocal douchbags. Anyways, if you’re a DB, stay away.

Owner is really nice, food isn’t bad. It’s freezing in most of this place depending on the time of year and they make sure to keep the door open all winter. The wifi has been at times horrible, but is free. Weekends are a little less serene, but with that said, if you want a place you can bring the kids on Saturday or Sunday, it seems like a place to go.
