History

Established in 2010.

Growing up I spent the better part of 10 years at a boarding school in Northern India. It was there that I truly began my fascination with capturing images. Beginning in a darkroom and then moving on to digital I captured the scenery around me and the details that I wanted to preserve in my memory.

When I moved back to San Francisco I earned a degree in photography from San Francisco State University and have gone on to be a photographer full time.

I have experience in product photography, Marketing and event photography along with portraits, wedding, family, maternity, and newborn photography.

I have a special affinity for Sikh and Indian weddings because of the time I spent in India but I love to capture all different kinds of love!

childhood, and have been fortunate to realize

that dream in my professional career.

As an artist, I enjoy working in many photographic

mediums, however I have a deep love for working

with people to preserve their most precious

moments. From weddings, to family and maternity

photography, I love shooting it all!

Gurusurya Khalsa Photography is definitely as good as it gets. A few things I appreciated most about our session was how comfortable she made us feel and how enjoyable she made the experience. Gurusurya brought fun, creative ideas with her that we would have never thought of on our own, which made the shoot what it was. After the shoot was finished, she had them edited and delivered to us faster than I thought was possible! Her use of light and attention to detail is stunning and I am so happy we chose to work with her! Absolutely recommend Gurusurya to anyone looking for a uniquely beautiful shoot.

Gurusurya is the most badass photographer one could ask for! Seriously though. I own two food carts in the Financial District and during the lunch rush it get’s CRAZY busy! She worked around us, and never got in the way of our work, and yet still shot some incredible angles of the food, customers and our super team! Not only did she intelligently place our branding all over the pictures, she also managed to get everyone to laugh, smile and have a good time. When I have any occasion for a photoshoot, I’ll be calling Gurusurya up EVERY time!

Gurusurya has taken photographs of my family 3 or 4 times for various reasons (adoption portfolio, pregnancy photos, labor and birth, new baby).
Her photographs are really good and reasonably priced but almost more important to me is that she is so comfortable to be around. She can attend your wedding or your birth and be a benefit– she is non-​intrusive and yet positive.

Gurusurya did my professional photos for my portfolio and it would not have gone better! She made me feel comfortable and completely at ease by taking care of everything and walking me through the process. The pictures turned out amazing and I could not be happier– I cannot recommend Gurusurya photography enough!

Gurusurya’s photography is so beautiful. She did our wedding photos, and she captured the day as it actually was, which is so hard to do. During the marriage ceremony I did not notice her at all but she took tons of amazing photos that are beautiful, vibrant, joyful, and so precious to have. After, she was so fun and personable while rounding up our whole huge family, and also took such nice photos of the two of us.
We just went back to her for a photo shoot with our four month old baby. If it’s possible, her skill and artistry have become even more spectacular and the images are so full of light. She catches such sweet expressions and knew how to guide us through all these beautiful, natural poses. (Ha, natural poses sounds contradictory, but I find it hard to be normal when people are taking my picture, and yet I feel very comfortable in front of Gurusurya.) And my baby did not cry, amazing!
Both times we hired Gurusurya it was so fun, and so affordable, and I am very grateful to have all these photographs from two very special times in my life.
