Specialties
Growth & Learning Opportunities (GLO) is a private non-profit organization that runs 7 before and after school programs; and a Summer Program in San Francisco Public Schools. The GLO programs are dedicated to offering education, enrichment and recreational activities to families and their children.
History
Established in 1982.
In 1982, a group of working parents from West Portal Elementary School who needed safe before and after-school programming established West Portal C.A.R.E., Inc. The organization’s humble beginnings had less than 50 children enrolled. Over 20 years later, in August 2005, the organization was renamed Growth & Learning Opportunities (GLO). Growth & Learning Opportunities maintains its private non-profit status and community based family services. The organization operates four licensed before and after-school programs located in San Francisco public schools.
Going forward, the organization will make every effort to be at the forefront of creative innovation. We will continue to meet our mission with high program standards supported by qualified and caring staff who cultivate strong family relationships.
