I live nearby and go to Green City regularly. Their changing window displays are always freshly designed and the small shop is filled with nicely refurbished items. The social mission(job training) means the money from your purpose goes triple as far — providing you with a needed mirror or end table while helping the less fortunate. Stop in for sure!

I happened upon Green City Store and didn’t really know what they stood for. Having read more about this, I am now definitely a huge fan of the store’s concept(job training for the under served), and the non-profit behind it — SF Clean City Coalition. I was looking for an affordable planter box on Craigslist and found Green City Store advertising ones that were up-cycled, in the size I need. It also helped that they were half the price of the commercially available ones, and much more unique looking! The shop is small, and divided into two sections; — Front of house is up-cycled furniture. Tables, chairs, chest of drawers, planter boxes… and this beautiful large mirror I really wanted to take home! All very well priced vs. mass retail. And of course, all are one-of-a-kind — Back of house is a tool rental. Want to do a quick project but don’t have a power drill? You can rent one from here for $ 10 a day. Their breadth tools for rent are very impressive( ) I am 100% happy with the service and purchase I made here… have already told a bunch of friends about this! I wish the Green City Store and all the related programs every success!
