Golden Gate Grooming

I’m so impressed! Our old Cairn Terrier had not been groomed for a while because he’s a bit tetchy and our last experience with grooming left us a bit disappointed. Golden Gate Grooming was wonderful. Jennifer arrived on time, was both cheerful and professional, and asked the right questions about what we wanted and our priorities for cleaning up our little guy. When she brought him back inside, he was clean and handsome, happy to be home but still wagging — a miracle after he’s been wet and has had to be patient while being handled.
We’ll call Golden Gate Grooming again — sooner this time, before our little guy gets so dirty and matted, because we know we’ll be happy with the results

I wish that my dog could’ve been groomed here! But my chow just wasn’t having it.
I found this place on Unilocal.I have been exchanging emails with Dana for about a month. She is very kind, informative, and quick to respond. I finally made my chow chows very first grooming appointment. I was a little afraid since Toddy has never been professionally groomed. Dana promptly answered all my questions and concerns over email. I really appreciate our back and forth emails– I have a busy work schedule, sometimes it’s hard to get on the phone. Dana scheduled an appointment with Shane.
Shane called me when he was at my home. Toddy and Shane met. Everything seemed fine, Toddy liked him — and Toddy normally does not like male strangers. Shane was great. He explained the process, was super understanding, and very genuine.
Toddy followed him in the van. I walked back home nervous. The only way to explain it is — the feeling when you drop your child off to their first day of school. You watch them wave goodbye. They don’t even know what lies behind those doors ! Silly but so true.
About 10 minutes in, Shane calls me saying Toddy wasn’t having it. He did not want to get groomed. He was growling and showing teeth. Understandably so, I picked my baby up. Toddy was all smiles with Shane while they waiting for me.
I’m bummed that I couldn’t have Toddy groomed. But I will gladly recommend this place. I believe they are fairly new around the SF area. I appreciate everything Golden Gate Grooming ! I hope a can find a groomer for Toddy soon.

Best groomers in San Francisco! My pups and I love the amazing the grooming teams at Golden Gate Grooming. My goldendoodle and standard poodle are always clipped beautifully and come back happy as can be. We will never go anywhere else!

Holy smokes! These guys are amazing! I have 3 dogs, a corgy, chow and a goldendoodle. These two had my dogs done in no time and they were absolutely perfect! My puppies have never been so happy. My chow is extremely difficult to groom and handle. They’re like the dog whisperers! Lol my doodle came out incredible and has never looked or felt this good before. But most importantly, my pups were very happy and comfortable. I don’t like letting them go with just anybody because they are so hard to deal with. But these groomers know more then Just grooming. They are caring sweet people that love animals! I will always use them and tell all my friends. Thanks again guys!

Fantastic groomers! They take great care of both my giant breed dogs (Rottweiler and Bullmastiff) who are very difficult to bathe. Nails are always trimmed to perfection and stinky beasts return home fresh and happy. Highly recommended!

My puppy Carly (a mini Goldendoodle) had her first hair cut with Susie about 6weeks ago. Susie was fantastic with Carly as this was her first haircut ever! She was gentle and patient and Carly looked fantastic! I just called to set up her next appointment, you can’t deny the convenience factor and knowing my pup is happy as well as beautifully groomed when she is done is worth the price.

I called them on a Friday afternoon and Susie called me back in about an hour. She explained the services and it sounded good. I was sad because I had to leave Furry Tales where we had been going for a while but under new ownership, that business has gone DOWNHILL and the wait for grooming was a MONTH!
I explained this to Susie who gladly fit me in the next day. She came and played with Judd for a bit and took him in to the van. I was able to see the inside also and it looked clean and tidy. About an hour and a half later, Judd returned. The grooming was excellent. Good service. Good results. A little pricy but you pay for what you get. Sorry, Furry Tales, you’ve lost my business.

I am So HAPPY!!! After months of trying to find a reputable groomer, I was lucky enough to find these guys! Today, Suzie groomed my baby boy Charlie, a (PWD), and Im completely satisfied with his new haircut. Suzie is very sweet and compassionate. You can tell her love for animals is genuine! I will definitely be scheduling his next visit with them!

For convenience you can not beat Golden Gate Grooming, its door to door service. Mike & Dana are also a plus, very nice people .
Only thing that disappointed me the last time I used their service is that I specifically asked for my dog’s tail not to be cut… And when my dog was returned to me there was a big chunk that was cut out of his tail. If not for that, Golden Gate Grooming would have gotten 3 stars from me.
Also as some commenters have said, they do not get back to you right away, I called for 2^nd appointment, & never heard back from them. I had to call a second time for them to respond, to get an appointment for my dog.
Otherwise Golden Gate Grooming is good, but please listen to your customers special request for their dogs.

We found Mike and Dana through our dog walker (who has very high standards for his pooches!) So we decided to try Golden Gate Grooming and we were not disappointed! Our dog always looks so cute when she’s all done (and she’s big). They are quick and careful and I love that our dog doesn’t have to wait to be groomed and that she doesn’t have to spend the day away from us (she’s a rescue so she’s a little nervous about being left places). We’ve never had a problem getting an appointment and we just adopted another dog and were able to get an appointment quickly.
Our dog loves them so we do too!

Like a few other Unilocalers mentioned below, this company does not seem to want your business. We have gotten our dog groomed a few times with them and each time it is a month long process trying to get an appointment booked. They generally just do not return calls or emails until about the 3^rd or 4^th time we reach out and then they schedule something 2 weeks out. At this point I am in need of a reliable groomer and I am welcoming any recommendations. Note to Golden Gate Grooming… try harder to retain your customers.

After several attempts at emailing Golden Gate Grooming (11 to be exact) regarding having my dog groomed, they decided to claim they are not accepting new clients and can I be placed on a waiting list. WTH? Why did you even bother to ask for my home address and then ask if you can hook up your water hose so that you don’t have to use up the water in your reservoir tank in order to groom my dog? Are you kidding me!?! This does not sound like a business that I would want to to entrust my dog with. You are shady!

Yanno, if you call a company three times over 2 – 3 weeks and E-​mail them once because you’d like to give them your business, it’s generally good business practice to call back.
Apparently these folks don’t understand good business practice, which is why I have not been able to use their services… and why I’ve lost all interest in trying, in spite of the positive reviews they’ve gotten.
ADDENDUM: After leaving a one-​star Unilocal,I did hear back from them with an apology. At this point, we’ve taken our business elsewhere, but I have to give credit to a business who recognizes that they’ve made a potential customer unhappy and takes steps to rectify the mistake.

«Updating my review and saw yours. These two blow my mind. They are sweetheart soul surfer types that started their biz so they didn’t have to work for other people and could surf whenever they wanted.
They are PHENOMENAL at their job, and it has grown aggressively in the last year, much to their shock. Their whole world is their rapidly popularized biz, and they simply cannot keep up. Long time regulars are even put on the back burner for a couple weeks simply because they book that far in advance.
Also… they are donating all the pet hair to soaking up the oil slick in LA!!! it’s awesome.
Seriously… cut them a break on that review. I am not sure how long you waited, but it even took her two or three days to get back to me, and I have been with them a long time.
Just my two cents, and no big deal… but thought I would drop a line in regards to it… they deserve a second chance, and they certainly deserve use of their services prior to a review. If you are reviewing based of front end interaction or a phone call, I urge you to be a bit more patient!

Not only do we love Golden Gate Grooming but our miniature poodle Lucky just adores them.
While Lucky does love to almost anyone who pays attention to him, he does not like getting groomed, at least until we started going to Mike and Dana.
They are just wonderful with him and he comes out cheerful, happy and as handsome as can be!

My dog needed to get groomed before the weekend and everyone I left messages for never called me back… except Golden Gate Grooming. They returned my call within hours and were able to get my dog an appt the very next day! I was very happy, but a little nervous as Gizmo has never been groomed with GGG.
They called the next morning to let me know they would be a little late… I appreciated them calling to notify me, so I wouldn’t be waiting around all day. Great communication!
So they arrived around 5 and Gizmo was super happy to hop into their van. I told them what I wanted and went about my business. An hour later they called saying Gizmo was ready! I was speechless! I thought, «How could they possibly be done grooming him! He’s impossible to work with, always fidgiting and whining… it must be a chop job.» I went to the van and Gizmo looked DASHING!!! They cut his hair so evenly and perfectly, and even cut and FILED his nails! And to top it all off, Gizmo was super happy, not groggy or tired or irritated!
Golden Gate Grooming was worth every penny! I am such a tight wad… but I will definitley call them the next time my dog needs a grooming! I have never been happier with a dog groomer… and we have tried sooooo many in the bay area!

we’ve been having trouble finding a dog groomer since both of us work during business hours. we’d just taken our dog from my girlfriends parents and he was in desperate need of a grooming. any place that had good reviews and had remotely flexible hours were booked solid for weeks. we emailed GGG (golden gate grooming) on a friday night and they replied first thing saturday saying they could come by sunday! excellent!
they came by on time, their cleaning set up reminded me of a hospital. it was spotless!
we also had a chihuahua that needed a nail trimming. they made a quick job of that, even cleaning her ears no charge. they showed great interaction with what is usually a very fiesty/​mean dog.
as for the dog that needed grooming, they were just as friendly with him. they asked us for any specific style we wanted and in less than an hour, exceeded our expectations! with other groomers, our dog would always come back scratching at his body (he has sensitive skin). but this time he came back very happy and fell right asleep as if nothign happened! we can only infer but they must use clean water and very gentle, quality products in their van (he came back very clean with a pleasant light scent to him).
cost is quite higher than what you’d pay at a quality groomer. but they are mobile of course, and in our case the convenience was well worth it. especially considering the great job they did.

Somehow in the middle of an IPO, a big wedding and an apartment redecoration, our pooch’s beauty routine fell to the wayside in 2008. In December, poor girl had hair as long as mine and had clearly fallen in the with the wrong crowd at the dog park as she kept coming home with fleas. The week before Christmas, I became desperate to get her groomed as she was scheduled to spend the holidays with our neighbor friends. I get it that I take vanity to a whole new level when I’m worried about what the pals will think of our pooch’s hairdo, but I never claimed to be down to earth… right?
So, I called and emailed every groomer in town to no avail. Everyone was booked. Then, I turned to Unilocal and found the review for GGG. They are G-​g-​g-​great! I emailed them around midnight one night and had an email back from Dana first thing the following day. They had a cancellation and were available to come the next day. I was elated. They came on time, groomed our girl right in our driveway and were extra sweet and patient with our timid little canine friend. Because we had waited so long to groom her, she had some pretty bad mats and they did have to shave her hair, but they managed to do so in a really cute way — with enough of her curls left on her head and ears to keep her from looking funny.
I highly, highly recommend Golden Gate Grooming. You will not be disappointed!
