Golden Gate Computing

Our association holds a large conference (400+ attendees) at a downtown San Francisco Hotel every year. We have 5 tracks of educational tracks, with over 50 90-​minute sessions across three days, with several keynote addresses. While the Hotel provides the presentation screens in each of the session rooms, we provide our own projector. In the past, we had each of our 50+ speakers bring their own laptops with their presentations loaded. However, over the years, we’ve found that to be problematic. Far too many instances of the speaker’s laptop not being compatible with the projector, or not being able to connect for whatever reason, or they have a Mac and forgot their VGA dongle.
So, for our 2015 conference, we decided to invest in renting 6 laptops (5 for track sessions and one for the keynotes). We considered a purchase instead, but since they’d just be in storage all year until the next conference, we couldn’t justify the cost and don’t have the volunteer support to deal with the necessary OS and app updates. We selected Golden Gate since they were the first and most comprehensive to reply to the query we sent to about a half-​dozen vendors.
Speaking for the Conference Co-​Chairs, I can say we are very happy with that choice. Dave at Golden Gate was incredibly communicative and helpful. He provided us with an extra laptop as a spare, delivered them to the Hotel on a Sunday, picked them up late on Wednesday. He provided cable locks, presentation clickers, and cases. All laptops were configured «cleanly» and performed well for us throughout the conference. When we found one power supply had an issue, he quickly delivered us a replacement. The cost was very reasonable.
I’m sure we will be using Golden Gate once again for our 2016 conference.

Needed to rent a fully-​loaded macbook pro retina for a single day. This can often be either difficult to find or expensive or both.
Found Golden Gate Computing online and asked for a quote from their website. Got a helpful and detailed reply almost immediately.

Great service, having a place that offer computer rental is a lifesaver. I was able to pick up the laptop (Mac) at 5pm on a Saturday in the Marina and return it at 3pm the next Thursday. My fee was $ 200 for 1 week rental.

My company laptop crashed right before an important client presentation. I left a message with Golden Gate Computing and they called me back within 30 minutes and 30 minutes after I’d entered my payment details into an easy online form, a replacement laptop was hand-​delivered to my apartment. What service!
I had some problems with my files due to old software versions, so they loaded a replacement laptop with the older software version and delivered me a replacement. The service was outstanding.

Excellent and friendly service, they accommodated the idiosyncrasies of our non-profit’s event, including a late night return. Not sure when they sleep.

Needed a computer for a last minute demo I was asked to run at a San Francisco conference last week. I received a call back within 20 minutes of placing an inquiry, and within 24 hours notice — and on a weekend — I had a laptop in hand.
The team was extremely flexible and dropped off the laptop, and picked it up again a week later, at a time and place where it was convenient for me. They are also reasonably priced and very friendly. If you’re looking for a quick fix computer, these are your guys!

GGC has recent computers for rent at reasonable rates. They are able to get
more powerful graphics laptops if you need one and I found their support
and responsiveness to my questions to be exceptional.

Helpful and efficient! We needed to set up a wireless hot spot and rent 8 laptops for an event. Golden Gate Computing took care of all of it for us seamlessly. I would definitely use them again!
