sadly, there is no longer a Going in Style store in this location.

Great service, great selection of products. Went there for a couple of luggage tags — and got great advice and wanted to buy so many things in the store. Very good place to go to get whatever you need to go on a trip. Plus fun gift items. Great sales guy there who answered all my questions. Will be back to shop again.

A store that fits a very niche purpose — items for travel — also comes with fantastic service. It’s been a few weeks, but one of their employees, Eric, completely made my day by putting my name on the list for something out of stock(some reading light the SF Chronicle was hyping), calling me the day before my trip to say they got one in unexpectedly, and holding it for me till I could swing by. In my world good service is always worth a few stars.

I’m vary of travel stores in general because they’re usually full of what Alton Brown calls unitaskers. I read on KK’s Cool Tools about a travel belt with pockets to hide money and stuff that was an ACTUALBELT and not a purse you tuck in your underwear and thieves know to look for. I looked online at a few paces, and the website said they had it here, I went to check it out. They didn’t have black, so they ordered it from the San Jose store. They said it’d get here on Monday(3 – 4 days) but it took more like 2 weeks. I even stopped by on like the following thursday to ask. No big deal, cos I’m in no rush, but kinda weird for a travel store where you expect the clientele is going to be rushing off soon.

when flight 001 is too fancy and you just need plain jane travel supplies, going in style is a solid choice for your 1-stop travel needs. your typical stuff — small umbrellas, travel bags and backpacks, luggage locks, neck pillows, power converters, etc etc. not cheap, but not too overly priced for a shopping mall travel store. the convenience more than makes up for it. service is fine, they know their products if nothing else. thats about all i have to say. sorry its such a lame«first,» but all-in-one travel stores are hard to come by and i just wanted to get this place on the radar. especially since that one at 2nd/market is now a bank!
