Since this place is super close to my work, I wanted to give it a chance. But I’ve given them too many chances now and will have to give up. Although the owner(?) is friendly, says hello to patrons as they come in and thank you/bye when you leave, I’ve just had too many bad experiences with their service. Today for example, I waited at least 5 minutes to get a table or be seated(there were 2 empty tables when I initially walked in and no one in front of me). I was also willing to sit in the tight space in between 2 other diners at the bar. However, after I asked if I could sit at one of the just cleaned off(but still dirty) tables, and actually sat at the table, I was then asked by the same person I had just asked to move to the bar since there was a party of 3 coming in. He could have just asked me when I initially walked in to sit at the bar, but instead he let me wait, let me sit, and then asked me to move. He then asked his coworker to talk to me. Which at that point, I left. The hassle and embarrassment is not worth it to me, and neither is their mediocre quality sushi. Do yourself a favor and pass on this place and find better sushi at close by Japantown.

Another one of my go-to places for lunch. I love the sushi here. The proportion of rice to fish is perfect. They only use real crab and their sashimi is always fresh. I have never craved another sushi roll more than I have their Tinky Winky roll(scallop, salmon, crab, avocado and tobiko). It must be the shisho leaf that makes it extra fresh and delicious — just love it! You can’t beat the price at $ 7.50 either. I also get their Salmon Donburi. The salmon is never overcooked and is served with perfectly steamed broccoli. I ask for extra ginger on the side with everything. Theirs seems to be sweeter than other places. Overall, an inexpensive spot to satisfy my sushi and fish cravings! Thank you Godzila!

Inexpensive and local sushi place that captures the«Godzila»(one«l» only) theme perfectly. The staff was quick, efficient and friendly during our time here. We ordered miso soup, gyoza and pot stickers for appetizers. The gyoza was fresh and crisp with each bite and the pot stickers were hot and tasty and I could have eaten more if I weren’t sharing with other guests. As for our sushi, we ordered the basic California roll, the Spicy Tuna roll, and the Rainbow roll followed by some Asahi beers to wash down the heavy amounts of food we were enjoying. Each roll not only was presented beautifully but you can tell each one was made with care and concentration. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices for this sushi bar and the quality of the food. Definitely would come back in heartbeat.

Decent quality of sushi and good prices especially for the area. The service was nice and attentive and there is plenty of seating inside. My boyfriend and I got the tempura shrimp and vegetable appetizer($ 8). It was on the oily side but pretty good. We ordered the salmon skin roll($ 5), eel roll($ 6), salmon kamikaze roll($ 6), and hodorah roll which had salmon, crab, and mango($ 7.50). I liked the hodorah and salmon roll the most. Neither of us were too big of a fan of the salmon skin. It was drier than other places I’ve had it at.

I went here twice while visiting and liked it both times. The location, service, quality and price were all good. I had the kamikaze roll and the godzila salad. Both were very good. Pictures below. I will definitely return when I’m back in the Bay Area.

This is on our way home and we finally stopped in to check it out. We ordered gyoza for an appetizer, my husband had the Godzilla roll and I had the Megalon roll. For dessert: mango mochi ice cream. The rolls were a good size and the food over all tasted fine. We left feeling satisfied, not over fed :) May come here again since it is on our way

Well. What can I say. It was terrible service. For a place with ok Chinese sushi. It was such bad service that I would never go here again. They should fire the hostess. But I bet she’s the wife of the owner. Which is why she has such a bad attitude problem.

This place is as authentically Japanese as Godzilla is real. Anyone else notice that Godzilla is spelled incorrectly? Godzila? I’ve only been here multiple times on a lunch break from work and I notice a majority of patrons ordering a bento box, which is the generic and mainstream equivalent to ordering a pad Thai at a Thai restaurant or sweet and sour pork at a Chinese restaurant. I like things fancier. I only order off the special menu written on the chalk board wall and usually there’s three specialty rolls. Last roll I got was the Warriors Roll which consists of mango and asparagus in the middle topped with toro. I have to say this roll is better than the last rolls(49er, etc.) I’ve had. Maybe their sushi technique has improved because the roll had the right balance of rice and fish. I hate it when the rolls have way too much rice in proportion to the fish. Also ordered agedashi tofu and wish the tofu soup was piping hot, not barely lukewarm. The special rolls are pricey($ 13 – 14) given that it’s not top notch fish and this place is nothing particularly trendy or nice, cue Ozumo. Service has always been friendly and while it’s not the best sushi I’ve ever had, it fits the bill during lunch time(mostly for geographical reasons) when I get a sushi craving. More like 3.5 stars.

Really wanted to like it here. Ordered a meal for take out. Had chicken karaage, which came with just 5 small pieces; and 2 of the 5 pieces were a tad burnt. Not bad burnt but blackened in a way that wasn’t supposed to. Also had the spicy tuna roll and tinky winky and both were just ok. The pieces were cut too large(instead of smaller bites) and flavor was in bland side. May have been a better sit in dining spot.

Really good sushi for the price you’re paying, and the restaurant is Godzila(with one ‘L’ for trademark purposes) themed. What more could you want?

So, second time is the charm for this stand out! The pricing is more than fair and the food is fresh and delish! The real crab spicy California and spicy tuna rolls are amazing as is the yellowtail and they have some very interesting rolls that we will come back again for! Must come!

I’ve been meaning to write this review for the past 3 years. Better late than never, amirite? I recommend this place to all colleagues, friends, out-of-town guests, people who ask for recommendations on where to get great sushi. I’ve been going to this place for 3 years now and it never gets old. You’re sure to see me here at least once a week… sometimes 2 – 3 times per week! I highly recommend their Spicy Girl and Mussels for appetizers. Yum! Their customer service is phenomenal and all employees are so personable. Godzila, I love you! Keep up the amazing business.

Great spot for large groups, sake, beer, and a ton of rolls. There can sometimes be a wait, good thing there’s a bar across the street. CHEAP

I, unlike my friends for whatever reason, actually really enjoyed my food here. They use real crab meat instead of the nasty imitation crab, and the other ingredients tasted really fresh. I ordered the spicy California roll, and the sauce was not too overpowering, but it was definitely spicy. My only complaint with my food was that the roll was really tiny compared to their other rolls. Because I got my food on time and because it was good, I had no other problems here. My friends didn’t like it because all of our food came out at much different times, and they were very slow to service our table. We all enjoyed our food, though.

Stopped Godzila by for lunch with a group of friends. This place was a solid 3 star(maybe 3.5 star) establishment. I tried the spicy tuna roll. It was decent. No the best by any teams, but it certainly hit the spot. I also tried the unagi donburi bowl. It was also decent. A couple pieces of unagi(with skin and bones) placed over some seaweed salad, rice, and pickled ginger. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was clean. Overall I would go back to grab some food for lunch.

Went here on a Saturday night and the place was packed. We had to wait about 5 – 10 min for out seats(sushi bar). I was happy to see a place that was busy because I find that means people think their food is good as was the case. We had the seaweed salad, miso soup, edmame, a dragon roll and a golden dragon roll. The sushi chef was very accomodating and customized our order. I’m used to sushi places that have a happy hour menu and they do not and my only other gripe is that the waiter was doing a poor job and getting our drink refills. But overall the place is pretty good.

Came here on Friday and the sushi was descent. It was quite expensive, but that’s how it is around here in San Francisco for some sushi. Ordered: –Godzilla Roll –Surprise Roll –Twinky Roll –Fried Chicken Large Sake and a few beers to top it off. They had two TVs and I sat in the sushi bar. The sushi chefs had no interaction with any of their customers whatsoever. The service was alert and tentative. Fish was fresh and I would probably come back.
