Glow Yoga & Wellness

My husband and I attended a Yin yoga class as part of our relaxing anniversary weekend in San Francisco and it was so lovely! We had a fabulous experience and will definitely be back during our next visit. We’re beginners in our yoga practice and felt totally comfortable in a room full of people who were obviously more experienced than us. Our teacher was fantastic and we’re looking forward to our next class!

Class attended was 5pm Sunday. Checking in reception couldn’t find my paid reservation from their online site, had to show confirmation, poor.
The class itself was a joke. Music was so loud I couldn’t hear cues, I was on the front row. It’s a ‘flow’ class, zero fluidity and poor sequences. We kept ‘rocking’ back and forth as if instructor was trying to use up time as didn’t have anything planned. At first I thought it was to build and loosen for the pinnacle pose… Nope. No building, no destination, no structure. If one is new to yoga and doesn’t want to learn sequences, this is your class. The good part, room had a great temperature.

I really love going to Glow Yoga. Challenging classes with a healthy balance of meditation. Definitely check out Sarah Ann’s classes and make sure you help yourself to one of the healthy raw drinks in the refrigerator in the front. Easy scheduling online and easy check in when you arrive. No worries if you forget your mat, blanket or blocks, they have excellent ones for you to use. I highly recommend this place for quality yoga.

Glow is my favorite yoga studio of the handful I’ve tried in San Francisco.
Erika and Amber, whose classes I’ve taken the most, often suggest a theme to consider during each class, which I find useful and thought-​provoking.
Amber often incorporates inversions in her Tuesday classes and the «playshop flow» class on Thursdays. I credit Amber with helping me figure out how to maneuver those tougher poses.
Erika’s Saturday power flow is super intense and rewarding.

Yoga Glow is more than just a studio, it’s a community. Many of the instructors take the time to get to know you and Natasha is wonderful and very active in the wellness community. I really enjoyed the yoga classes but my favorite are the spin classes offered at their sister studio on powell.

Glow Yoga is just OK. I hate giving a studio 2 stars, but this studio just wasn’t for me. I normally prefer more fast-​paced Vinyasa flow classes, but the class I attended (Sunrise Flow) was very slow. It wasn’t challenging and there weren’t very many modifications for people of different levels.
This is a good studio to attend if you’re trying yoga for the first time and want to ease into your yoga practice.

Glow is my neighborhood happy place. I love the balance of mind and body in the classes. Amber is my Tuesday/​Thursday favorite! She has a warm, welcoming practice that always has some fun stuff thrown in. Erika is my go-​to for working up a sweat on Saturday mornings.

I can’t even begin to thank Natasha and the Glow/​Go wellness team for how they have changed my life. I started my journey in January and since then I have lost 40 pounds! The variety of classes they offer make sticking with a workout easy. Yoga, Barre, Pilates, Spin, TRX and Kettle bell!

I really like Glow! I’m not a yogi. I’m a runner and can barely touch my toes and tend to feel a bit intimidated and generally lost at most yoga studios I’ve tried. Not so at Glow. Everyone is really friendly and laid back. I’ve tried 4 different teachers and they’ve all been great, and every one of them has made sure to ask if there were any new people in class and give a little background about what to expect. Also, each teacher goes around and introduces themselves to anyone they don’t recognize — a great way to make people feel welcome and at ease. The studio is really clean and not stinky as well. If I had one complaint, and it’s minor in my opinion, it would be the location– it’s right above Tacolicious in North Beach, so if you’re going to class in the evening and there is a sporting event on, the class might not be as tranquil as you might hope.

Ive tried out a several studios in the city and this is by far my favorite. This a bright big beautiful studio. Great hardwood floors and big windows along the wall are a great contrast to some of the dark, stinky carpeted studios in the city.
The instructors are great, they all have their own styles but they also know a lot about the background of yoga and the hindu culture and religion that comes it. If you love learning all those cool poses youve seen but think you could never do you should try a class with Amber especially 6:15pm Thursday night. If you really want to sweat and like the your balance and peace of mind with the feeling of a tough workout go to a class with Erika especially her Saturday morning power flow. And if youre curious to try a pilates class they have both mat classes and reformer bed classes.
Were so lucky to have this studio in North Beach. They have created a completely new community bringing so many amazing people together. I have met some of my closest and life long friends here. Im so utterly grateful.

Everyone looks for different things in yoga studios, so as a forewarning, my reasons for not liking this studio doesn’t mean it’s a bad studio or that you won’t like it. Overall, it’s 2 stars for me because the classes aren’t particularly challenging and the style of the classes aren’t quite what I’m looking for.
The studio itself is pretty small. Just a single room for class that echoes surprisingly nicely during om’s or singing.
There’s mat rental for $ 1 for those who forget their mat or don’t want to carry it around, but the mat itself isn’t a very good quality one. It’s thicker and heavier than most mats and incredibly slippery. I have a Yogitoes Skidless towel that grips pretty well on most mats, but I found myself still sliding around on the mats here.

*** HAPPY HOUR FLOW (Leila) ***
THE GOOD:
–Adjustments! I love that Leila walks around the class providing adjustments, not only to correct beginner postures but also to deepen poses for more advanced yogis.
–Inversions! Leila left some time near the end of class for us to practice inversions on our own.
THE BAD:
–It’s a heated room. Some people like this, but I personally don’t like heated yoga classes. The heat was at a warm temperature, but not warm enough to make you sweat (so not hot yoga). It’s supposed to help loosen your muscles more quickly, but I warming them through the actual flow.
–The class I attended in particular didn’t have any core work, but I can’t say if that’s standard.
–Lacks challenging poses
*** FLOW (Erika) ***
THE GOOD:
–Some core work, which seems to be hard to find in yoga studios in SF, but it didn’t really work the core that much.
–Minor adjustments
THE BAD:
–Unusual flow. No sun A’s or B’s and we rotated around facing the front and then the back, making my body feel unbalanced. It also felt slightly more like a gym yoga class because we did things like lunge dips and arm/​shoulder presses.
–No challenging poses. The class is probably a level 1 – 2 or level 2 class at most.
–No time dedicated to inversions
–Only one backbend
–I have no problem with classes being more spiritual (om’s and singing/​chanting at the beginning or end of class), but for a 70 minute class, I felt like we spent a little too much time singing at the beginning of class.

So far, I’ve taken 3 classes here with 3 different instructors through Classpass. The first was okay, the second one was crowded, but better, and the most recent one — Sunrise Flow with Jason at 7 am — was great.
I was in kind of a mess because I left my yoga mat and phone at home and was just a bit flustered. But Jason’s class really settled me in and put me in a good place. His class was just rigorous enough to wake you up, but calm enough to mellow you out.
This studio is also always quite toasty. I’m always sweating up a storm in here even if I’m note exerting myself. Bring your own towel or mat towel. I should have! I kept slipping in the downward positions when I had to rent a mat ($ 1).
If you have a Classpass or live anywhere nearby, I would recommend checking out Glow. It has a soothing vibe that you don’t necessarily get at other studios in SoMa or FiDi where I live. The people who work here are genuinely nice and not weirdly perky at other workout studios around the city… won’t name any in particular ;) It’s also in a great location in the heart of North Beach, which doesn’t hurt!

I cannot say enough good things about Glow! Everyone I’ve encountered has provided such a warm and welcoming interaction, and I always looks forward to stepping foot into the studio. Technically, I am not what you would call a Yogi, but that is why I love Glow – the breadth of classes offered makes the studio perfect for anyone who values their health and wellness. While I have taken a few yoga classes and loved them, I mostly take advantage of the Spin, Pilates, and KETTLEBELL classes.
I had never tried Kettlebell before taking Mona’s class, but stayed after spin one day and have since been hooked. Mona is an amazingly inspirational teacher, and takes the time get to know her students and help each person where he or she individually needs help. I have knee issues and she has been so helpful and accommodating in offering suggestions and modified exercises when necessary. I always feel like spinning around, singing in the streets after her class because it is so fun and gets the endorphins flowing like nothing I’ve tried before!
I also regularly attend spin and Pilates fusion classes, and have had amazing experiences with Marianne, Drey and Sarah Y, all whose classes I highly recommend!
My only hope is that Zumba comes back to the schedule ;)

The reviewer below me said it perfectly: Glow is like a warm little cocoon. You walk inside the studio and it’s how you wish your home felt everyday when you walk inside.
I just discovered the studio last week and I have already been to 5 classes. I can’t get enough of it! So far all the teachers have been wonderful and very experienced. Every single instructor is so different and I love the variety. So far Erika and Roger are my favorites.
Suggestions:
1. Offer more challenging classes. All the classes are pretty beginner/​intermediate and don’t offer many difficult poses to challenge their yogis. Even if everyone in the class can’t do a headstand or bird of paradise, it’s still fun to try!
2. The 24 hour cancellation window is a little crazy. I understand a 4 hour window or maybe even a 12 hour window. But 24 hours?! The only thing that does is discourages people from signing up in advance.
3. Turn the music down during savasana
All in all, I LOVE this place and can’t wait to keep coming back!

I liked Glow Yoga after the first class I took but was waiting to write a review for Glow Yoga until I tried out some other studios so I would have something to compare it to. Yup, my first impression was right, Glow Yoga is amazing!!!
I’ve been to several yoga classes, a few Pilates, and just went to a spin class! All the instructors here are awesome! I wouldn’t consider it «Beginner» but all of the instructors make you feel really comfortable if you can’t keep up or may not be flexible enough. There is no judgement if you need to take a break but they are also great at pushing you and believing in you.
Glow Yoga is also super convenient for me and in the heart of North Beach. They have a good amount of classes so there is no excuse to not get to a class! Really happy I was introduced to this studio!

Took my first class here last night and really loved it. It was Flow with Amber, and she’s probably one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. It was the perfect amount of stretching with quicker movements that got my heart rate up. I didn’t feel uncomfortable when I couldn’t do a full pose, and Amber even comes around to give your body an extra stretch.
The room temp was nice, especially because it was a cold night. There are places for your personal belongings and the whole studio was very relaxed and inviting.
I’ll be back soon!

This is a nice yoga spot. I took the gentle yoga class, which was a very basic class but very well done. The instructor did an excellent job of explaining poses and suggesting modifications. She also circulated frequently to adjust participants. She had a good sense of humor.
There are a couple of reasons I would likely not return to this studio. The first is that the studio gets really warm (it is not heated but not air conditioned either). I have friends who love hot yoga (which is usually even hotter), but I’ve found over time that the heat is just not for me. Second, being new to the studio I arrived 15 minutes early to find it locked which turned me off just a bit.
Overall the class was really great but the location is probably just not for me.

I’m stretching muscles I never knew I would be stretching!
Their yoga flow classes are pretty intense for a beginner like me! I do love the challenge of their Vinyasa because it helps me with being in tune with my body, inner strength and willpower to last that long (45 minutes — 1.5 hours depending on the class you take). Their heated room also helps with sweating out toxins as I rigorously complete the Yoga steps.
***Shout out to Erica and Roger for being my personal favorite yoga instructors!*** Each instructor has a different style to the way they teach Yoga and theirs just shined in terms of personality, leading and helping the class.
I wished that they offer later night classes after 7:30pm on the weekdays because I get off work, want to grab a bite to eat and then find myself barely making it or having to rush to the 7:30pm Twilight Vinyasa class.
They offer pilates and facial treatments too! However, I came here solely for their yoga! They also have detox beverages, yoga mats and clothes for sale.
I noticed that there is a change with my body posture as the weeks progressed. It has helped me improve on my back becoming straighter, toning my core stomach as I loosen up my shoulders and essentially focusing on my breathing.
I feel refreshed every time the session comes to an end.

I go to college in Philadelphia but on holidays and during the summer I live in SF. I LOVE Glow Yoga. This is the only yoga studio I’ve found so far with really great instructors who are friendly, inspiring, and motivating. I’ve been coming here on and off for the past 6 months whenever I get a chance.
I enjoy attending Dallas’s and Amber’s flow classes. They guide you through advanced poses without making you feel inadequate. Both Dallas and Amber will push you to try new things without being over bearing and welcomes you to push yourself through tough moments.
I’ve tried one of Roger’s classes and found it interestingly unique. He paired the hour long vinyasa flow with 80’s music, and although I found it too goofy and informal for me, I saw that many of the other people in the class really enjoyed it. (people were definitely singing along through the class!)
Finally, this isn’t really all that relevant to yoga but, Glow offers a lot of other random things that inspire wellness and health. First, they offer lemon ginger water that I enjoy drinking before and after class. Second, they have wellness seminars and workshops like inversion workshops for the more daring yogis and cleansing workshops to teach about healthy food. Finally, they often have free samples of healthy natural beauty products (usually from Burt’s Bees) which is always nice!

I love that this place has actual workout yoga! I went to Mona’s class. I’m not really into slow yoga, where you stay in downward dog for most of the class, and lucky for me, nor is Mona!
Really conveniently located, right next to Washington Square park, and great décor.
Must check out the Twilight Vinyasa class on Mondays.
They also usually have groupons/bloomspots…so get one!
