Geoff is a great massage therapist. He is very attentive to your specific issues and tailors the massage to your exact needs/​wants. Very professional and knowledgable. He runs his practice out of his quiet home. I would definitely recommend him.

Geoff is the best. Period.
I’ve had back pain for years, and while physical therapy, yoga and chiropractic have helped, none are really effective until my muscles are relaxed. The only way I’ve found to really relax the tension is a good massage. I’ve had some good ones over the years, but Geoff is better than any of them: he does a great massage.
Aside from his technique, which is excellent, Geoff makes the effort to understand what the problem is, what’s working or not working. He’s a good listener, and he uses this to fine-​tune his massage. I’m going every week or two now, and it’s made a real difference.

I was a bit nervous to receive a professional massage. The only massages I’d ever received were from lovers in a sexual context so I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to fully relax and enjoy a massage from a stranger. But Geoff is a true professional. He was able to put me at ease and give me an intense massage that really did feel beneficial. Geoff was able to delicately question me to see what type of techniques would be most beneficial, despite my ignorance of the various massages types. He has a thought out process, with attention to detail that even includes a glass of water waiting for you when you arrive.
If you’re looking for a professional massage therapist that knows what he is doing, Geoffs your guy. Super easy to get to his place as well. Right by 16^th Street Bart.

I’m very picky with massage therapists and Geoff is hands down one of the best I have ever been to. Runs his biz out of his home so it’s not a spa but its still fantastic and he is always spot on with pressure and speed. HIGHLY recommended!

I paid for an hour-​long massage, and unlike many other massage therapists he definitely spent more than an hour on my massage, as well as additional time for followup advice. Today was my second visit to see Geoff and it was another excellent experience leaving me feeling loose, relaxed and pain free. I very much appreciated that Geoff called to let me know that there was some surprise roof work being done and that he was more than happy to reschedule to another day when it wouldn’t be so loud-​more than kind! I’ll be back over and over for over all body maintenance and relief of painful spots.

Hands down the best massage therapist in the City. I always want a female practitioner. But from the very first appointment I felt completely comfortable and relaxed. And his massage transports me to another realm. I know it sounds corny but when you get a massage from him you’ll get it. He’s professional, skilled, down to earth, easy to work with, loves what he does, and did I say the massage will make you see god?!! Dont hesitate to book with Geoff. You will never go anywhere else again.

I’ve been going to Geoff for 2 years now. He’s amazing. His massage style is like jit kun do — the style of no style. He combines techniques from a variety of massage styles. He’s great at catering to my needs depending on what areas need special attention. He’s also a very interesting and balanced person so I always enjoy chatting with him. While it may feel strange to some that he works out of his home, he’s a really nice, honest and professional guy so people shouldn’t feel weird about it.

All I can say is this guy knows how to give an incredible massage. I was hesitant to post this, at risk of making it harder for me to make appointments for myself. I decided I should help spread the word, and hope more people get to experience his massage work. Amazing.

Geoff asks lots of questions and really listens and tailors the massage to your needs. i’ve never had a regular massage before and I love it! The price point and ease of scheduling makes it accessible.
As others said, his studio is in his house no no fancy spa but its completely comfortable and professional.

Wow, wow, wow. A few years ago I was looking for a massage therapist in SF. I must have gone through 4 or 5 before I found Geoff. This review is horrendously overdue, and all I can say is, Geoff is the best massage therapist I’ve had since moving to the Bay Area.
He does massages in his living room, and his home is in the Mission, so if you drive a car and expect to find easy, free parking, good luck. But he’s very close to the 16^th St BART and Valencia St. is one of SF’s busiest cycling routes, so consider taking a more environmentally friendly form of transportation (it’s better for your health too). And of course, if you need the slick, upscale spa experience with candles, expensive stone work and frosted glass doors, look elsewhere. There’s plenty of that around.
But what Geoff offers that no other massage therapist I’ve had in the Bay Area has offered me, is an extremely attentive massage that’s completely tailored to what I need. With Geoff, the massage is all about *you*. Whatever you want and need at that moment.
Geoff is great about asking for feedback as the massage progresses, giving me extra attention where I need it, adjusting pressure. He’s versatile, being excellent both at fluid, long strokes as well as relieving specific spots and pressure points.
I usually go to Geoff when my neck and shoulders are hurting from long hours at the desk, but I leave his home with my feet, hands and legs singing with delight.
If you’re looking to chat, Geoff will gladly have a conversation with you during your massage. If you want peace and quiet, he’ll create the perfect ambiance. Life is too busy these days, but for 90 minutes (I most recommend this length in order to get the most thorough massage), I’m in another world, away from my worries and problems. Right there, on that table, I’m enjoying the most heavenly bliss.

I have been coming to Geoff for the last 6 months. He is possibly the best CMT ever! Started with 60mins and quickly moved to 90mins. We always discuss the areas of focus and he makes sure you are 100% comfortable before he starts.
He is a very talented and a very kind person. I have experienced all kind of massages everywhere and this is hands down, the best massage in San Francisco!

This review is long over due.
I found Geoff on Unilocal a couple of months ago due to just muscle pain everywhere. I remember it was a Sunday, which meant, no one would be open.
Luckily, Geoff was able to take me in the following Monday morning to help my low back, shoulder and neck issues. He fully evaluates your concerns first and what kind of techniques you are comfortable with. He did an amazing job loosening me up!
Keep in mind, he does his massages in his apartment. But at the same time, he is very professional and does a great job to accommodate you and make you feel comfortable.
Parking can be a pain, but since this is in the mission, i usually like to wander around for a walk after my massage. I would definitely recommend Geoff to anyone close to the city!

I visited Geoff about a month ago due to lingering neck strain. I’d visited my doctor the day before and she had recommended massage to me (in addition to some muscle relaxants) and Geoff was local and highly rated.
Geoff started by discussing why I came in, the issues I was having, and where I’d like to have work done. During the massage he spent a lot of time working on the trapezius vs the neck.
Afterwards, he explained he saw a good degree of knotted muscle there and how the trapezius influences the neck. He followed by saying that with what he did, it would be sore for a few days but that I would feel a substantial amount of relief afterwards. He also gave me a sample of some cooling gel for any pain I’d have for the neck in the short term.
Sure enough, a few days later I had more motion in my neck than I had in a month and an understanding of why I’d been having neck pain in the first place.
Geoff was very professional throughout and I highly recommend him. He does work outside of his apartment which I could see being unappealing to some. However, his work space is very professional and as well equipped as any spa. I will certainly be visiting him again.
Update: I’ve continued to visit Geoff every few months. I’ve gotten a lot of relief each time and often information on the parts of my body he noticed were very tight and some stretches to address them on my own. It’s made me more aware of my body and its problem areas which has kept me in the gym more consistently and more limber day to day.

Traffic was crazy in the city yesterday due to SF marathon and Folsom street fair… neither of which I took part in. So needless to say my car was barely crawling; it was like a parking lot on Valencia & Mission. So I was stressing that I would miss my appointment with Geoff.
He was very friendly and accomodating even though I was very late. He still was able to give me a 40min deep tissue massage focusing primarily on my neck, shoulders, and back. Well I have to say it was pretty amazing. And I will definitely be back!
My only complaint is that I still prefer the spa-​like ambiance, since he works from home… I didn’t feel that comfortable at first. But I am searching to find a phenomenal massage therapist so that I can become a regular customer… and so far Geoff may be the one.

My goodness. I never realized what a star Geoff was. Of course, I always knew. But I didn’t know that you all knew until I saw him here on Unilocal.
I think intuitive is the key word to describe Geoff’s work. I asked him how he knows how deep to go without my saying anything. He said he listens to the breath, feels the muscles, knows to let up near the tendons, and also checks in with you to be sure. But all I ever say is, «great».
I’m also always impressed that he has a lot of stretches and other information to offer to keep chronic pain at bay. He’s truly a gifted healer.

Oh Geoff– you changed my mind about deep tissue massages for good.
I used to be scared of the temporary discomfort and insist on light handed Swedish massage only– Geoff combined the two at my request and I left floating on air, with seriously lasting results

Excellent! Geoff realizes that massages are not one-​size-​fits-​all, and works very hard to understand your likes/​dislikes.
If you want a massage with deep pressure, you’ll get it here. He’s not afraid to dig in. Every movement is deliberate and purposeful, and he seems to enjoy his work. I’ll be back, for sure!

I agree w/​everyone, Geoff is great! During my training for a half marathon, I pulled my calf muscle, which was extremely painful. Desperate for relief, I went to Geoff based off the Unilocal reviews. Not only did he see me on an extremely short notice, but Geoff managed to work most of the pain and inflammation from my calf.
I have received countless massages over the years for all kinds of reasons and I can, without a doubt, say that my experience with Geoff was one of the best and most effective, if not the best, massages ever!
