Ur not welcomed here if u are not Chinese(speaker) rude cashier pretended not to speak any English even though she spoke perfect English just before I payed. I went there to buy hot dog buns(not knowing that they had mini hotdog buns which were 3 for $ 1.70) I bough hot dog buns and some other buns for my mom. When did some calculation I realized that the lady charged me $ 1.10 for each mini hot dog buns so confronted her about it that’s when she pretended she didn’t speak English. I pointed out the sign that clearly said(3for $ 1.70) she yelled at me for no dam reason. Rudest experience ever. Would give a zero star if I could Ps: mon said that the cupcakes I had bough for my little cousins were very stale

Neighborhood asian bakery with some of the BEST char siu baos(BBQ pork bun) in the city! Bun is perfectly fluffy and the char siu flavor is ONPOINT. They also have buo luo char siu bao(pineapple BBQ pork bun) they run out fast! Occasionally see flies flying around inside the display case of pastries. Their nai wong bao(custard bun) is stuffed with custard and is very creamy if you’re into sweet baos. Muffins seem like they are from Costco. Also, found some egg shells in the sponge cakes.

Come here for fresh buns! I’ve stopped by around lunch and in the late afternoon on different occasions, and the buns always tasted fresh. My favorite is the pineapple bun, which is always pillowy soft and mildly sweet. The sweet and crusty topping tastes great! The cocktail buns here were also good. If you’re looking for Hong Kong-style milk tea, get it from here instead of Geneva Bubble Tea next door. The milk tea here was fresh and had a strong tea flavor, which can’t be said for Geneva Bubble Tea’s pre-made milk tea. There was enough sweetness to enhance the tea rather than overpower it, something tea lovers would definitely appreciate. If you’re into really sugary drinks, this milk tea isn’t for you. There are a few tables inside, but most people just grab and go. The prices are cheap — just a couple of coins for each bun. I don’t speak any Chinese dialect, but I’m glad to have gotten nice enough service here. They weren’t especially friendly, but I’ve gotten smiles and thank you’s, which is good enough for me. Like many Chinese-run shops, Geneva Bakery is cash only. Glad to have this nice little Chinese bakery in my neighborhood!

A friend who lives nearby the Geneva Bakery took me here. The rich variety of bread and desserts provided my family a genuine HK taste. We packed wife cake and pineapple bbq pork bread to eat on the upcoming flight back home. The HK milk tea is a must try.

You know its a good chinese bakery when there’s a line out the door, uncles drinking coffee and aunties playing mahjong inside! Bought some pastries for my boyfriends family to take home to LA, SOFRESH… Literally grabbed them out of the oven! And they don’t use a lot of corn starch, so you don’t feel bloated after the bread! Yum mommy!

Use to come here all the time for their cake or their buns. I only came here since my mom asked me to buy some buns for a party we were having. Their buns and cakes are always at a reasonable prices. I got about 12 variety type buns for my family party for the cost $ 9.90. Not bad of a price for the among of buns that i got. You can eat your buns at this place since they do have tables and chairs but i usually get mines to go. The staffs are usually friendly when i do visit this place. The parking around here are so so depending on what time and day you go. Definitely will come back again since its more closer to my house

Never had the cakes, only the buns From what I have tried(pineapple bun, cocktail bun, ham & egg bun, green onion bun and hot dog bun) I have to say they were all delicious. Their buns have a soft pillow like texture that withstands from getting soggy, even after a few days. As for the fillings, they are authentic in both flavor and appearance. Ideally, if you can get there stuff fresh and consume it within a few days you will be in for a great treat Overall Thoughts Delicious Chinese buns at a reasonable price

Yuck! Do you guys even replace your cakes?! On a whim, my family and I decided to buy some pastries from Geneva Bakery since it was on our way to our destination. We ordered a slice of fruit cake and a couple of red bean buns to give to a friend. I don’t really have high standards for fruit cake, but I do know that Chinese bakeries make fruit cake well. Unfortunately, I was disappointed because the cake tasted so old, I took one bite and threw it away. Eeyuck, I won’t be back!

This is my to go place for buns because it’s close to where I live when I’m home. Their buns aren’t bad, they also have fresh egg tarts if you go at a good time. This has been my to-go place spot for years. Recently, service has just been doing downhill and QUICK. They have a sign looking for an employee to work there so I went in to ask about it, when I asked for the manger/owner, lady working behind in the counter went to the kitchen to get the manger and when she walked out, she went ‘Who called for me? What do you want?’ Thank goodness she wasn’t hiring a student as a summer job. Ever since this incident, I haven’t been coming into this place. Only if I had to. I say you should just go McGarden Bakery for your goodies instead of there. It’s just a block away from this place and it is MUCH better.

A dollar Fried Curry Beef Bun! Fried Curry Beef Bun is very hard to find. But this thing is very popular in Japan. It calls«Kaleh-Pan» in Japanese. When I walked in here for my 1st time the other day, the Fried Curry Beef Bun got my attention right away. So, I said to myself, «I gotts to know!» After my 1st bite, I said, «SonofaBxxxx, This is a bomb! « The gets 4 star right there. This CCS, Cheap China Shit, is A Good Shit indeed. I’ll be back for more.

The pastries here are decent, and the cocktail bun=coconut bun was good. Still, it’s similar to many Chinese bakeries so that’s not saying much. Props to them for opening in the area — Excelsior District. Should be three stars. However, my pics-taking might have agitated them. I was already out the door, down the block, when I saw the register lady and baker/owner standing at the doorway. They were also saying something to one another. Then, I think the owner/baker tried to write down my license plate. Weird. Maybe I’m overreacting, but two stars as I don’t want to return and get knee-capped. Note: reminded me of the time in SEAsia when friends and I got ripped off at a bar for drinks and so we did not leave a tip. As we walked back to our villa, the bar sent a couple of goons after us on motorbikes. They followed along for over a block and demanded tip, lol. Milestone: the 3,500th «Funny» vote’s review. :D

Cheap and delish!!! Pleasant for quick breakfast, snack or the like. My usual is the onion bun($ 0.70), mini corn bread(3 for $ 1.30) and mini hotdog bun($ 0.70). Cents and dollar for everything! Go!

Medicore at best. I suppose this is good if I’m on this side of town and craving some bao. The char siu bao had very little meat in it(see pic) and some of the flavor combos are kinda gross but overall an okay bakery.

You are what you eat. With that said, I used to be called«bo lo bao»(pineapple bun) when I was a baby because my head was round like the bun. I stopped by around 1PM today, and ordered a pineapple bun($ 0.50) and an egg tart($ 0.60). Both were warm and delicious. The pineapple bun was very soft, moist, sweet and not as crumbly like it can be at other bakeries. It was also glazed. with who knows what. because it was very shiny. The egg tart was very fresh and the crust was slightly crispy. This place is so cheap, and has a huge variety of baked goods. However, service can be a bit rude. But I don’t really care because this is a bakery, not a sit-down restaurant.

I had been craving Pork Buns for a while, and I kept wanting to try this place as the reviews had been pretty good. It was my boyfriends brothers birthday and last minute we needed a cake, but we didn’t want some generic safeway cake, ya know? So I suggested we try out this bakery. We walked in and were greeted immediately, the cake we got was a white cake with whip cream frosting and fresh stawberry’s…it was absolutely amazing! While we were there, I had to try the Pork Buns, so i got one, I think it was like 90 cents or something, it was worth every penny and then some! Definitely a place I would and will continue to go back to.

Take your sterotypical Chinese bakery from the heart of Chinatown and drop it near a Bart station off of Geneva. This bakery is close to the BF’s mom’s house and has DELICIOUS pineapple buns. I am totally addicted to them. They are super bad for my hips. They have other delicious pastries too but I tend to get my favorite ones which happens to be super popular. This is a place not well known for their smiling customer service. It’s a place for you to point(if you don’t speak Chinese) or order in rapid fire Chinese what you want and they just hand it to you within 30 seconds or less. The prices are super cheap. Just ignore the older Chinese men gathered around. They’re sipping on their coffee and eating their Pineapple bun while reading their paper or people watching. Maybe one of these days, I’ll bring back some for the South Bay Unilocalers. But for right now, I’m hogging these buns all to myself.
