I’ve had geico for two years. I was fine with until I got in an accident. Driving down a residential street and out comes a car pulling out of a a drive way, head first into on coming traffic and hits me. The driver literally drove into the middle of street, I was so furious. He said he couldn’t inch out because there was a big truck blocking his way, which yes there was a truck, but to just completely go into a street with on coming traffic and not even inch out? So, I called the police, we shared insurance info… etc.
After two weeks of phone calls with geico, they decide that it is a no fault accident. Of course geico is happy about that, they don’t have to help pay for any damages done to any of the vehicles. Do not get geico. These workers do not care about their customers or have an ounce of empathy at all. Currently, still going to local mechanics to fix my car, something geico should of helped me with but didn’t. I couldn’t believe their customer service. I’m sad I got into a accident, but I’m glad I now know about geico and am telling everyone I know not to get insurance with them or cancel their policy. This has happened to too many people.

The saying «You get what you pay for» is spot on with GEICO. When its cheap it usually does not work. I was hit with a person that has geico insurance and they admitted fault. But guess what. GEICO does not want to pay for the damage to my vehicle. If you love headaches and dealing with people who dont care at all then go with Geico. If you want a real insurance company then pay a little extra and when that fender bender happens you will be glad you did. GEICO SUCKS

Biggiest piece of garbage company ever if you fart to loud in your vehicle they will drop you absolutely useless do not waste your time pay a lil extra somewere else if a body were to fall from sky on your car they would drop you and say its your fault thats how terrible they are

Geico insurance is absolutely terrible! I recently experienced a car accident and filed a claim. However, the whole claim process was nothing but a series of miserable experiences. So far, I have talked to five different Geico adjusters who have repeatedly acting very aggressively and unfriendly throughout my communications with them. I do not recommend Geico as your insurance company.

If I could give less than one star, I would. It is clear that Geico spends all of it’s money on commercials instead of their customers.
This has been hands down the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I switched to Geico from my previous insurance provider because of the savings offered on my six month premium. Within a month a driver ran a stop sign and T-​boned my vehicle on the right hand side. Not only did I injure my back but my car had significant damage. The other driver immediately accepted fault, apologized and proceeded to give me his information etc. There was also a witness in my favor present who gave me his information and offered to be a witness on my behalf. This accident occurred in June and my car is still not repaired correctly (It’s almost December).
Apparently Geico was overwhelmed at the time of my accident, and did not have enough adjusters to manage their clients so they hired a third party adjuster. It took almost three weeks for anyone to even look at my vehicle. During this time I was using a rental vehicle that was only covered for 30 days and the body shop was losing money housing the vehicle. When the third party adjuster finally created the estimate for my vehicle I was informed by Geico to disregard that estimate because they fired this third party adjuster company. The body shop and I were so confused and when I asked when they would actually send someone to look at the car to do a proper estimate I was given the run around again. In short Geico never sent anyone from Geico to look at my vehicle. We were then told Geico was going to go with the original estimate with no explanation about what had changed and the check for the damage was sent to the body shop. I didn’t know this at the time but later discovered that many damages were left off of the original estimate and still to this day have not yet been repaired.
At every turn I have had to fight with Geico to get service, coverage and reimbursements for out of pocket expenses. This accident was not my fault and Geico will be reimbursed by other insurance company so I don’t understand why it was so difficult to be taken care of. The body shop finished the repairs on my vehicle as based on the original estimate, but when I went to pick up my vehicle noticed that the repairs were not complete. When I mentioned this to the body shop they explained that the repairs I was referring to had not been included in the original estimate. This is not surprising considering there was obviously something wrong with this company which is why Geico fired them, but then they never sent someone else. I then had to submit a supplement to Geico for the additional repairs, this had to be approved and the whole process took about another month. I just received the check for the additional repairs this past week. The body shop also complained to me to let me know that this was going on with several other vehicles all insured by Geico. I now have the check for the final repairs which I will send to the body shop so that they can order the parts for the repair.
In summation I have already switched from Geico to USAA Auto Insurance and would not recommend Geico to anyone ever. Definitely look elsewhere for your coverage. This experience was a complete disaster.

After I got Geico I slightly scratched my paint and refused to pay for it, because they claimed that paint could of been scratched before I got Geico. But, they refused to take photos of my car before and even after I said I insist you take photos of my car and they said no, it would cost too much and be too much trouble. If you have Geico, they don’t pay at all if you get into an accident, which is why their rates are so cheap. And the lizard is annoying.

If I could, I would give Geico a zero star rating. The reason being cancellation of insurance based on information they received that was false. I was trying to Über but Über would not allow me to drive with them unless I had the right insurance. I asked Geico about the rideshare insurance and told them I did not want to do it. Now, because I called in August and asked them about this, they assume I went on ridesharing with Über anyways and have threatened to cancel my policy. Because this is not the case I will continue to bash them online, and tell as many people as I can to not get insurance through Geico. Terrible customer service. DO NOT get geico insurance. Instead try Mercury Insurance!

I have actually never reviewed anything before, but I feel like I only hear the terrible things about insurance companies, and I got such amazing service that it needs to be recognized. I was in an accident this summer. I crashed my moped into the back of someones car. We were stopped at an intersection, and had just started accelerating after the light turned green. A cop was across the intersection through the other red light so the guy in front of me hit his brakes and I didn’t hit mine in time. We were so close because we had just started moving. It was my fault so I called to report the incident and claim the damage for his bumper. I was unable to claim my bike because I did not have any collision. The women I spoke to was so friendly and made the process super easy. I was pretty beat up from the accident (having been on a moped) and not looking forward to dealing with it, but she was kind and explained everything and NEVER made me feel like I did anything wrong. It was an accident, and she was so kind. Accidents are scary, traumatic events. I never want to have to fight or argue with customer service reps. And I hate feeling worse after a conversation with them. Especially in a situation where I am already shaken up. She deserves the rating all on her own; however, my whole experience was great.
At the end of the conversation I learned that I had no deductible because I was only claiming damage on his vehicle. (Totally shocked) And it was my first accident ever so my rate did not increase. Also, the told me to not interact the other person involved in the accident and to direct him to them because they would take care of everything. And that is exactly what they did. I did not get another call about it, and got to recover in peace. I really could not have asked for anything more.
There are people on here with justified complaints I am sure, just like most businesses; however, I am sure there are people on here with unjustified complaints. There are people who are never happy and there are people that do not research the coverage they are signing up for and are upset when something happens and they are not covered. Take all reviews with a grain of salt. I was very nice to them, and had never had an accident before and they took care of me 100%. I also was fully aware of my coverage and knew that I did not have collision on bike. Someone else might have thrown a fit about that and had a totally different experience. After my experience I would 100% refer someone to Geico!

I have been a loyal customer for 5 years. Suddenly, my rates were about to triple so I didn’t pay to renew. I got an email that my policy is canceled and the day after my payment was due, my online account was automatically shut down. I got coverage the immediately following business day and received another email today. The sneaky rep asked which day my coverage with the new insurer began after she tried to knock my new insurer and sell me on another policy. As we were wrapping up, she mentions to me that I know owe them $ 25 and change. Because there were two days between when my policy was «canceled» with GEICO and the new policy began. (Ended on a Friday, got new coverage Monday morning.) She had even asked me what day I want the policy to cancel out on but then suddenly I no longer had an option? I explained to her that I am not agreeing to this coverage, I didn’t ask for this coverage, I am not signing anything stating that I am accepting coverage for these two days and she’s still insisting that I am owing this $ 25 and change and threatening collections at me over it. I explained to her that it is my choice to allow the two day lapse and I will deal with those consequences, and that her forcing two days of extra coverage on me is like trying to leave the grocery store and a clerk insisting that you owe for a loaf of bread you don’t want just because he threw it into your cart as you were walking away. I don’t want your loaf of bread, GEICO. If you triple my rates and refuse to do anything about it, I’m going to find someone else. Who wouldn’t? Be careful that you don’t tell them any information about your new policy if you cancel, they’ll find any way they can to screw you over. Even if it’s only a few bucks.

The worst experience ever. I filed a claim almost a month ago, and to date, I am having to prove that my claim is not fraudulent.
I will for sure cancel my policy with them when and if I ever get my car fixed.
Bad bad bad company.

I have been a loyal customer with Geico for about 2 years.
Never did I think I would be so let down by their terrible customer service.
1. I got rear ended. The other party was a douche and said I reversed into them while at the stop light. Who does that?! They couldn’t prove either one of us right so they couldn’t help me. Unbelievable.
2. They increased my payments 400% without my proper approval!!! My bills went from $ 90 to $ 110. I overdrafted thanks to them. They charged me in 3 months what they charged me in a year. The supervisor of customer service couldn’t even help because what they were doing was according to law and ethical. Ethical? Yeah right.
Way to lose a loyal customer Geico.

Will I at least ever get a response about getting my belongings from my totaled vehicle? No? Thanks Marlene from Geico, I hope you enjoyed your vacation!

I filed a claim one month ago when I found my motorcycle on the ground where it was parked.
Something happened during the night, someone push the motorcycle or something else, the police report said probably an hit and run by a car and of course Geico take that as an absolute true even if there are no witnesses and no camera footage. I filede as vandalism because my insurance policy doesn’t have collision on it.
So after 1 month! they called me and say that there’s no coverage and they won’t pay anything, in the meantime the picked up my motorcycle from the service and now I’m in a limbo where I don’t know where my motorcycle is and with the perspective of having to pay everything out of my pocket.
Worst experience ever, totally useless insurance.

GEICO EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE is absolutely horrible. Had a problem with my car, was stuck by the side of the road on the highway. called them, since we paid for EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE, they said they were coming in 30 min. One hour later, I call again, and they have no record of the claim!!! By then it was getting dark and dangerous. I tried to talk to a manager, and they gave me the runaround, finally telling me to ask the police to help me!
The lizard may be cute, the british accent charming, but if you have any problem on the side of the road, neither the lizard, nor anybody else at GEICO will help you.

I feel like people usually only think to write reviews for insurance companies when they have crappy experiences, which makes sense because insurance, by definition, is for crappy experiences.
However, I wanted to share the very positive experiences I’ve had with GEICO over the past 3 years and how they helped me through my own terrible car wreck. Since I’ve enrolled in their coverage, I’ve always received pleasant customer service. Revising my policy and adding additional drivers was never any problem. It was not cheap: I am a younger driver and my car was brand new so I definitely paid a premium for that. But now I’m very thankful I did, because GEICO really pulled through for me a few months ago when I got into a massive accident.
Back in June, an SUV behind me completely slammed into and crumpled the entire backside of my small hatchback while I was stopped to make a turn. I liken it to people crushing empty soda cans — that’s what my car looked like. I miraculously was okay, but my car was a goner. After contacting the police, I called GEICO right away and they set my claim into motion immediately. They walked me through what to do, and arranged for my car to be towed to their repair shop without any cost to me. I was 50 miles from home and their preferred repair shop, but they covered all expenses in getting my vehicle there. They also retrieved the police report and went after the at-​fault party on my behalf.
Throughout the entire process of getting the car towed, inspected, receiving the total loss report, contacting the other person’s insurance, receiving reimbursements, and beyond, I never received anything less than sympathetic, helpful customer service. I think their claims team takes special care to make notes on your report, so that when you call back again and again in the process, you can continue seamlessly without having to explain your story a million times to different representatives. I received my settlement check in less than two weeks from the accident. I had been mentally preparing for months of back and forth and paperwork but the painlessness of the experience was amazing! My reimbursement was fair and very competitive with KBB. And then, because I had no car, I was able to cancel my policy without any fuss.
In the end, I did everything I was supposed to do, followed their policies, paid my dues, had a good driving record, was not at fault, and had a near-​new vehicle. I acknowledge all these factors went into the positive experience I had and I realize not everyone can say the same. However, GEICO has now set the bar very high for me when dealing with crappy life situations. They were able to make an extremely terrifying situation into a methodical, personable, and comforting experience, as a good insurance company should. Thanks, gecko.

We’ve been pleased with GEICO for the past year. No longer.
We asked GEICO to bid on auto insurance for two active drivers and one permitted driver. They did, the premiums were fine, and all was well. Then it all changed.
When our permitted driver was about to become active, I contacted the company and discovered she’d been carried (and we’d been paying for) three active drivers all along. We were owed a refund, the GEICO rep said. I’m still waiting for it. Worse, on renewal for three active drivers (what we’d been paying for all along), our premiums skyrocketed.
GEICO seems prone to making mistakes that benefit GEICO. As a direct result, we’ll be looking elsewhere.

This review is about GEICO EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE.
Few days ago our car was towed away from Berkeley to Oakland. The tow away truck had no GPS or anything similar. so the driver called his company located at El Cerrito and his boss told him to charge us $ 25 as he saw on the Google map the route was 7 to 8 miles!!(by the way Google maps show multiple routes and the boss chose the longest one!!) Geico policy covers 5 miles and if the distance is more than 5 miles it is our responsibility to pay the difference.
The driver of the truck took the shortest way and the distance was 4.8 miles!!! The company boss refused to return our money! by saying that Google map shows 7 to 8 miles!!!(from point A to point B you can go at least from 100 different routes!!! from Berkeley to Oakland) and when we called GEICO we were told that they have nothing to do and we should resolve the problem with the tow away company!
We do think that GEICO should have handled this problem as they are the ones who work with them and sent them to us.
Very disappointed from Geico. We will be also filing a complaint with BBB.

Horrible experience with Geico Insurance in Hilo Hawaii. I called the toll free number spoke with Scott about buying auto insurance for my sisters car who is with stage 4 cancer. And they refused to honor a policy and told us they don’t carry a 30 day policy. And said to go look for another company. I told him we would take the minimum 6 month policy and that if she is still alive that we would renew. He was very rude and refused to honor our request for a quote. I was being DISCRIMINATED for having a sister with cancer. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY NEED SENSTIVITY TRAINING FOR THE DISABLED.

I can not believe how cruel /​lazy/​ignorant geico reps are and I spoke to 3. a guy hit me he apologized said he didn’t see me. i had another driver witness. geico asked for my info and social security and without investigating said it was my fault why because I had a guy rear end me last year. huh I took car in for estimate and luckily he was a retired accident investigator and he said he could tell I was hit. geico then said their client changed his mind I hit him. games it’s insane and now they said go through my insurance co. Ya geico can laugh if my rates go up and loose another 2k in car value when they report to carfax. geico employees are the only ones leaving glowing feedback. geico pathetic now I hate lizards lol

Won’t suggest u to go with Geico, pls read reviews before u decide to go with geico, they won’t pay and and work for ur benefit. DON’T GO WITH GEICO.
