About a year ago, I went to an opening at Gallery Heist. They had T-shirts for sale, and I purchased one. I paid $ 25 in cash and Julianne, the owner, said that she would call me in about a week, when the shirts arrive. Since then I have left voice mails, have e-mailed her, have even talked to her on the phone, and yet no T-shirt. I’ve asked for my money back, which has also not happened. At this point I’m left with no choice but to write this review and warn other people. I also agree with the hours of this space — they are completely inconsistent and whenever I’ve tried stopping by to talk to her, the gallery has been closed.

Is this place EVER open??? Every time I try to go there, its closed. In the middle of the day. On Wed. On Fri. On Sat. The hours of this gallery r a complete joke. I’ve been interested in viewing some cool art I’ve seen in the window but seriously, this place is never open. I feel really bad for the artists who show at this place because their art is NEVER seen. Some guy on the street told me the place is always closed AND the owner/manager/LAZY-ASS lives upstairs!!! Is that true? I hope he/she reads this and pays attention. The art u have looks cool so u must know something about art but u have no business running a gallery if u can’t keep your hours! Not fair to the artists OR the patrons who want to see the art! Too bad cuz I really wanted to buy that dope piece u have on the wall(with all the signs) but 3 strikes and you’re out! U LOSE!

Gallery Heist is not just another gallery full of Academy of Art throwaways. The are showing international artistic talent and are raising the bar on the talent and range a small Gallery in San Francisco can bring in. Additionally, as a collector, the prices are wonderful. It’s a great place to pick up new pieces and not spend a mint, and these are from some well known names in the artistic community. Parking can be a pain, but I love this new gallery and have added it as a nice alternative to White Walls and Upper Playground’s Fifty Twenty-Four.

Heist advertised that they were open for business on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 and when we drove by at 7:30pm the lights were off & the bars were up on the windows. It looked like they were closed & we didn’t try to go in as it was raining outside. Maybe they were open? We really wanted to see this new gallery. Hopefully better luck next time!!! It looks like a great place. Oh well!
