This place is our favorite neighborhood hardware store. Vince is awesome… he is helpful, friendly, and professional. Whenever we need to complete a DIY home repair(or have questions about home repair) we stop by G Mazzei & Son’s hardware and always are able to find what we need. I love that this store has been in Bayview through many decades and that it is a family-owned place. I would give this shop and it’s staff six stars if I could… it is simply the very best!

This is the kind of store you wish all stores were like: large selection, well laid out, with good prices and a really knowledgeable, friendly staff.

I agree with everything that has been said. This is a gem in the city. Ed and Vince were warm and welcoming the moment I walked into the store. I came in to get some keys cut and instantly realized that I was in a store with a lot of history and character. I also regretted all my purchases at Lowes with sales people who didn’t have a tenth of the expertise of Ed and Vince. G Mazzei and Sons also had better prices and could quickly order anything they did not have in stock. Please support this local and independent family owned business!

I just went in to get keys cut but it was a quick and very pleasant experience. I talked with the owner about how the store has been in his family for three generations. I really enjoyed the family feel of the place.

I love this place. My husband and I bought our first home in Bayview about 6 months ago. It is a lovely old Edwardian place with tons charm… but it’s a fixer-uper…so we often need materials of the hardware store nature. I stumbled upon Mazzei & Sons one day and have been a loyal customer ever since… my husband loves it too. Ed and Vince, the owners, are super helpful, friendly, and remember my name every time I stop by. They have all the stuff that a Lowes or Home Depot has(except for lumber and such) and sometimes their prices are the lowest… even lower than Lowes or Home Depot. True story. And if there is something that you need that they don’t have in the store, I’m sure they would order it for you and give a fair price as well. This is my favorite hardware store in all of San Francisco… it has been family owned for many generations and still is… So come on out and support this local business. Keep San Francisco from becoming one giant strip mall of chain-stores that have none of the charm, wonderful customer service, community connection, and top– of– the– line products that Mazzei and Sons’ has.

This place is a small, family-owned hardware store. They have keys and lock services, shower, gardening, shelf, cleaning, and some light products. They were really nice to help me find doweling pins for my shelf that lacked them. I got the wrong size the first time, and they didn’t have any smaller ones but they let me return them even after they were opened… ANDTHEN the guy was like we have metal ones if you want. What a savior! I was amazed at their helpfulness! I’m glad the son knows his family store! They were in the back somewhere, and went to get them. He let me trade them in and they were only $ 1 or so more. Cheap, quality products and they really need all the help and business they can get. Support them!

This is a hidden gem. I lived in Bayview for almost a year before I even knew it existed. The guys inside are genuinely friendly and eager to get your problem fixed. They’re fully stocked and fully aim to please. Don’t bother driving over the hill to Ace’s or the dreaded Home Depot; Mazzei’s has it all.

This place is great. Everyone is super friendly, helpful, and knows their stuff… don’t know how to fix that leaky toilet? Just ask. They have everything a neighborhood hardware store should have… paint, hammers, nails, nuts-n-bolts, etc, etc, etc… they even make keys in and can re-key your locks… If your house is ~100 years old like mine, they have all of the ye olde hardware stuff to keep you place held together… Heck, you can even buy those old galvanized trash cans and wash basins like grandma used to have… Check it out. Friendly, knowledgeable, and family run… a true piece if SF history. Only complaint? M-F 8am — 5pm… Please give some weekend hours, like Sat 12−4pm so I don’t have to go to Home Depot for the ¼″ drill bit I needed for my weekend project.
