Fox LSAT

This afternoon I met with Nathan Fox for private tutoring in San Francisco. I had been a bit nervous, after all, I’m a fan and have listened to all of the Thinking LSAT podcasts. But he was incredibly friendly and casual, and it was the first time in the last 3 months of LSAT-​studying-​to-​the-​max, that I had fun with it.
Of course he didn’t give me a magic button that I press and BOOM! 180! Which is of course what every person studying for the LSAT would love to have, but he definitely called me out on some of my big flaws that I know I’m guilty of (reading too quickly without enough attention to detail), he simplified a lot of the test for me.
I really enjoyed meeting with Nathan and it was very helpful for me to talk about overarching test aspects as well as review individual problems in depth. He even gave me one of his books!

I just completed a session with Fox LSAT. I originally met Nathan Fox at an admissions seminar at Boalt Hall/​UC Berkeley School of Law. I was quite impressed by his presentation. He seemed very knowledgeable and very approachable. So, I made a mental note to keep him in mind when I began searching for an LSAT prep course.
Good or bad, depending on how you look at it, I know quite a few attorneys and they each have differing opinions concerning how to prep for the LSAT; thus, all they did was confuse me. Then, I met someone who used Princeton Review and she was not happy about the experience at all – that doesn’t mean that it is bad; that was simply her opinion. She recommended BluePrint because her friend was happy with his experience. But, for some reason, I just wasn’t feeling it. So, I decided to go with my gut instincts and I selected Fox LSAT. I am glad I did.
Nathan Fox is a fantastic instructor. What I liked most about his course was the emphasis on Logic Games; something which I initially feared because I had no concept as how to adequately approach them. By the end of the session my degree of accuracy with this part of the LSAT had soared.
Additionally, two of the greatest aspects of Fox LSAT are the resources that Nathan wrote and published, which are included in the cost of the course, and the fact that he is so accessible. He allows you to contact him via phone, text or email and he will help you with any aspect of the law school admission process including review of your personal statement. Furthermore, even after you complete the course, he encourages you to stay in contact. I haven’t tried any other LSAT programs, but I seriously doubt that they would continue to help you free of charge once the course ended.
Nathan’s course was an incredible experience and I am so glad I trusted my instincts. I would recommend Fox LSAT to anyone who is determined to embark upon a journey through the treacherous and daunting law school admission process.

I have taken the LSAT three times: the first time was after a 3 month prep course by TestMasters. I scored a 159 after using TestMasters, which simply wasn’t good enough. I needed a 162. This was when I started private tutoring with Nathan, and though he pushed me hard to improve my score, I was a little apathetic. It showed in my score, which was a 160 on my second take. I continued to work with Nathan after that, and he not only helped to strengthen me in the areas that I really struggled, but he also pushed me to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. On my third take, I surged past the number I needed and scored a 165. I’m thrilled.
If you are planning on taking the LSAT and looking for someone to tutor with, absolutely go with Fox LSAT. Prep courses like TestMasters are as bland as it gets. Nathan’s courses have some bite, they are entertaining and his teaching strategies are top notch. I’m so glad that I worked with Nathan and got the score I wanted. I would recommend him to anyone.

Fox LSAT was great! I improved my score by 12 points after taking the class, and I know some of the students improved their score even more after only a month. Nathan’s funny and engaging teaching style helped keep the material interesting and made studying for the LSAT much easier. He clearly loves teaching and also reaches out to students personally when they miss class, which really helps you stay on track. Great class, great books, and a great teacher!

I found Nathan using Unilocal and like every other review that you’ve read about Nathan, you know the Unilocal reviews hold true to everything they say. It’s not very often that you can find a witty teacher that actually cares about his students’ well being. If you’ve read any of his books, you know that he is more than willing to help you get through the terrors of the LSAT, so long as you are willing to reach out.
Nathan takes an argumentative approach to the logical reasoning and reading comprehension that is consistent throughout the course. I can still hear Nathan’s voice, arguing with the question/​speaker, every time I take a practice test. His approach is abrasive and effective, but you have to be willing to put in the work.
If you’re struggling with logic games, TAKE FOX LSAT. Nathan’s a master at the logic games, and his methods will stick over the course of your practice testing. As you practice, each game will be easier to answer with accuracy. Whether you’re going into this course as an empty slate or as refugee from another LSAT prep course, your decision to take Fox LSAT is indispensable. On the first day of class, you’ll receive a number of Nathan’s books: read them and don’t ever shy away from them. His books will keep you engaged even after you’ve left his class. If you’ve already purchased any of his books, I can assure you that the wittiness that you’ve read is exactly what you’ll get in the class itself.
Take the class, work hard at it, and you’ll see your score increase.

I haven’t met Mr. Fox in person, but I have benefitted greatly from his irreverent but on-​point LSAT study guide books. Currently, I’m on page 443 of his Logical Reasoning Encyclopedia: or Disrespecting the LSAT and I think I would be in a padded cell by now had I continued to read the plethora of other testing books I had purchased.
Commentary following the questions will often make me laugh out loud, BUT, I’m learning one question at a time (while being totally disrespectful). If I need more detail I’ll work through another prep book (especially with formal logic) but there is nothing like the drills of one question after another, starting with easy and ending with hard, that Fox walks you through. If you’re offended by the «F» word, choose another book, but if you enjoy a hearty laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of some LSAT questions, Fox’s commentary and analysis will get you through the process intact, in possession of your sense of humor and a highly developed bullshit meter.

I only hope that my rating doesn’t deter from it being shown publicly on Unilocal.I have to say, I have his books, I listen to his podcast «THINKING LSAT» with StrategyPrep founder Ben Olsen and I have drank the Kool Aid. Nathan Fox is the man in the LSAT world and I truly believe he doesn’t care about anyone more, than passionate people looking to crush the LSAT. He may care about us more than himself.
I have never paid for in person courses from Nathan. Just bought books and listen to his amazing podcast and out of the blue I email him with a question as he always tells listeners to do and within 24 hours he has responded and then responded AGAIN to a follow up email of mine. I mean I am so far down the totem pole for him and his business but I poured my thoughts into an email and he just responded like a was personal student. I can’t imagine what his schedule is like but he took the time to show he wants to help anyone who asks. If I lived near San Fran at all. I would do all I could to get face to face with him.
Do yourself and favor. But prep materials from Nathan or Ben Olsen of StrategyPrep and listen to the Thinking LSAT podcast anytime you can’t physically study and practice. It’s a game changer!

I came across Nathan’s website a few years ago because as everyone else here I was and still am interested in Law School. Compared to other LSAT test prep courses Fox Test Prep was and still is the most affordable. The reason why I chose this prep course is not only because it is affordable but also because I kept reading that the top prep courses were a bunch of BS.
I took Nathan’s full course two years ago and at first I was like this dude is rude as heck BUT he also was extremely honest about law and what it really entails. The first day he went straight for it by telling his students the TRUTH to law school and the law firm life. I actually seen a few students at the end of class ask Nathan, «so can I get a refund, maybe law school is not for me?» If one person can sway you from a choice you thought you really really wanted to not wanting it anymore then, as Nathan always notes, you did not do your homework or just simply don’t know what you want. If you want to be an attorney it really is best to expose yourself to the world of the law, the life of an attorney and what personal relationships will suffer because of your career choice because it really isn’t as the movies portray it to be.
Nathan’s course has taught me to SLOW DOWN, READ CAREFULLY AND BREAK DOWN THE QUESTION (S). I work full time and have had to go to trial a few times this past year so have fell off the study wagon many times. I have not seen much improvement because of this and because I have not given it 110%. What I can say though is that I have come to slowly understand the test more. I actually hear his voice in my head while I take a practice test and when I review I hear him breaking down and talking smack to the writer when it comes to logic reasoning.
He really is a 5 star guy not just because he has helped me pull myself out of the confused state I was in at the beginning of my study road but also because he keeps it real. If you can get past the «he seems like as ass» (which is what you will find a lot in other attorneys) you will slowly see that his techniques will be ones which will help you CRACK the LSAT.
Good luck and know that your are not the only one that «doesn’t get it.»

I am writing this update as a now admitted law student thanks to Nathan!
I am so happy that I decided to take Nathan’s online LSAT course because it really helped me reach my goal! Before taking his class, I didn’t know anything about law school, except for the fact that there was this test called the LSAT I needed to take. Nathan introduces the LSAT as approachable and most importantly as learnable. He is also available through email for questions about admissions or applications, which is something that I highly valued.
I will be starting Golden Gate Law in August, and honestly, if it wasn’t for Nathan, that probably wouldn’t have happened. I also received $ 20,000 in scholarships thanks to his advice to apply early. He is incredible and if you want to get into law school at an affordable price AND also receive scholarships, then Nathan is the guy!

Update: I got into every law school that I applied to, including Harvard/​Yale/​Stanford, with multiple offers for full rides. A good LSAT score = less law school debt. Thank you Nathan! Seriously, his class is amazing.

If you are looking to improve your score, this is the class to take. Hands down the best experience I have had with the LSAT. I tried Princeton Review a little while ago and wasn’t improving at all. When I started Nathan’s class I was scoring a 156 and by the end of 1 month I was up to a 160. Nathan is incredibly helpful with both the logic games section as well as logical reasoning. I improved most on logical reasoning. His «no bulls**t» approach to them helped me improve my time management as well as accuracy and confidence.
This is the best LSAT class for improvement. If you’re worried about being bored in class, forget about it. Nathan is funny and engaging, and doesn’t waste any time with confusing terms and complicated diagrams. He breaks everything down in ways that are super easy to grasp. I am very happy I took his class and you will be too!

Nathan Fox is great at what he does. I entered his class scoring in the high 140’s and just got back my LSAT results today from the Feb 2015 test and scored a 161.
He’s a funny guy who knows how to teach. He also set up a really cool Q&A with the associate deans of admissions for GGU one night at our class. I highly recommend him.

Nathan is fantastic. After taking his class for 3 months my score improved by 20 points (high 140s to high 160s).
Believe the Unilocal reviews. He’s smart, he’s funny and he is a great teacher. He has a wealth of knowledge regarding the LSAT and the entire application process. If you ever have questions you can email him and expect an immediate response.
Unlike many other prep classes the LSAT is all Nathan teaches, and he teaches it well. He is committed to helping his students succeed. He has no gimmicks or silly tricks, he just knows a lot about the LSAT. He got a 179 himself and has taken and retaken and taken again every LSAT. What more could you want from an LSAT teacher than someone who knows everything there is to know about the test.

I am EXTREMELY happy with Fox LSAT prep and cannot recommend it enough. I decided I wanted to go to law school but had literally zero knowledge about the application process. I had never even taken a practice LSAT test. Thank god for Unilocal because it led me to Fox LSAT. It’s taught by the owner/​founder/​LSAT guru Nathan Fox. The course gives all the materials, checklists and timelines you need to tackle the test. Nathan is a funny dude and made the boring process of LSAT prep as painless as possible. Sometimes there was even free wine!
The value of this course isn’t just in improving your score, I gained a lot from all of the free advice. Nathan lays out the entire application process and strategies for getting the best scholarships offers. He answers all your random questions and continues to field email questions even after you finish the class. I got a ridiculous amount of individual attention that I doubt I would received at other test prep courses. I also appreciated Nathan’s honesty. The bottom fell out of the law market and it was invaluable to hear the truth about taking on debt and how it should inform your decision on which law school to attend/​career choices etc.
Classes were conveniently located downtown (not west portal!) in a fancy hotel conference room. Most go for 1 – 3 months, I attended for 2.
Many people take on $ 200,000 of debt to go to law school. Hell, simply sending in applications will set you back at least a grand. An extra point on the LSAT can save you tens of thousands of dollars. If you are serious about law school you should really take a prep class. If you live in SF, Fox LSAT is a must.

I cannot praise Nathan enough.
My initial practice exam score was a 138. Yes, you read that right, a 138. After 2 months of his in class session I was consistently scoring anywhere from a 152 – 158 on the practice exams. That’s a 14 – 20 point jump from my initial test score.
The one thing Nathan gave me is confidence. He doesn’t bore you with super technical terms. There is no fancy definitions you are expected to memorize, or some secret formula. Instead, he gets straight to the point: «This is wrong because where in the f***** argument was X ever mentioned.»
Yup, he swears, a lot. Maybe that’s why he captured my f****** short attention span. His personality makes class fun, he is approachable, and makes the LSAT bearable. You are welcome to call, text or email him whenever; he actually replies to my texts faster than my girlfriend (& that isn’t an easy task ladies and gentlemen).
His books make complete sense and breaks down every single question and answer choice. I found that I didn’t make one mark in any of his books, no sticky notes, highlighter marks, etc. THE BOOK MADE SENSE TO ME. I read it and knew exactly why one of the answer choices were wrong, what the argument was trying to convey, etc. The previous books I’ve used could’ve won me a elementary art competition. The books were scribbled from front to back, arrows pointing here to there. But none of these were present in Nathan’s book.
When I took the LSAT, his voice was inside my head. As I was scanning the answer choices I was «being a dick» as Nathan would like us to act. I was eliminating incorrect answer choices, I knew exactly why the arguments made no sense, I found the hole in every passage, etc. etc.
Before Nathan and his class, I had no chance of attending any law school. Now I am a serious contender!
Do yourself a favor and take his class, you will learn how to master the LSAT without the boring and technical garbage all my other prep books taught me.

Whether you have already taken a million LSAT prep courses or you are searching around Unilocal for the best place to start, Nathan Fox is it.
Taking a Nathan Fox prep class helps with all aspects of the LSAT: the daunting test, the overwhelming application process and everything else that leads up to going to law school. Nathan himself is actually hilarious… seriously read the other reviews, the guy is super funny and makes the class go by in a snap. He also knows what he’s talking about scoring a 179 when he took the LSAT… which he started taking only after taking a minute to look around the room after the proctor said start so he could watch the other students frantically start scribbling. Badass.
I was working full time and had just graduated when I took the first session with Fox. Though my time was limited the class gave me the structure I needed and provided me with other students to network with (Nathan helps you network outside of class too with his extensive LinkedIn connections). And even though the classes were full of people Nathan does notice each persons work and help them out on an individual level. Contacting Nathan is easy, you can txt, email or call him and he’s there, ready to help.
If you are looking for a great LSAT tutor in the bay area you found him. If you are looking to buy material that will make you laugh and actually understand the LSAT (I know right… ACTUALLY understand. When you first look at the test that might seem like a stretch, but Nathan makes it happen) you found it. I just can’t stress enough how helpful Nathan was for me in getting me started on LSAT and just overall law school prep.

I HIGHLY recommend taking Nathan’s LSAT course over any other class out there. Nathan is not only highly knowledgeable about the LSAT and preparing students to score better, he is super irreverent which makes the class all the more enjoyable. The materials he has written are extremely helpful and well written. I would pick up a copy of his book «Disrespecting the LSAT», it should be mandatory reading for anyone considering taking the LSAT. Simply put, Nathan is the best!!!

I really didn’t know what to expect coming into this class. Having registered for the September, 2014 LSAT, I knew I needed to take some kind of class to prepare me for the test. So I did a little research on Unilocal and found Nathan and his Fox LSAT class. The reviews were all positive, as you can see, but I was naturally somewhat skeptical going into a new experience.
The first thing I appreciated was the class’s location. Nathan holds his classes in pleasant, quiet, private rooms at the Hyatt Hotel in downtown San Francisco. Once I settled into the comfortable room, it was time to experience what the class had to offer. We took a practice test (a real LSAT from the past) on the first night, and I was struck by the difficulty of the logic games. The trouble made me thankful for the class right away. Nathan was encouraging, stating that the logic games are the easiest section on which to improve.
Over time, I learned that Nathan is both hilarious and smart. The class was cracking up most nights, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t learning. We covered all the essential material, and importantly we DID NOT cover the non-​essential material (like the writing sample or spending too much time on reading comprehension, because as Nathan says, reading comprehension is really just about two things: reading and comprehension.
Nathan’s approach is unorthodox but highly effective. He encourages students to slow down and get questions right and discourages students from over-​analyzing questions, over-​marking up or highlighting the LSAT, or spending time preparing for the writing sample.
His methods are battle tested, as he scored a 179 on the LSAT and has worked with hundreds (if not thousands) of students and learned what works and what doesn’t.
For the money, the class is a great deal. You’ll eight hours a week of Nathan’s terrific instruction, plus several useful and essential books.

I’ve been writing Unilocal reviews for a while and it is extremely rare for someone to have 40+ reviews and have almost all of them be 5 stars. In this instance they are well-​deserved.
I was in Nathan’s LSAT class in April and May of 2013 and benefited greatly from it.
The material on the LSAT is boring as hell and Nathan does a great job of making the class fun with his humor. Nathan is constantly arguing with the speaker and using profanity (which is hilarious, btw) to keep the class alive. Actually, I think he’s just being himself which makes the otherwise dry material very entertaining. Nathan scored a 179 on the LSAT so it seems he can do most of these in his sleep if he wanted to.
The class is located at the Westfield mall right above the Powell Street BART station so getting there is very convenient if you MUNI or BART.
In addition to covering the LSAT section he does a 30 minute Q&A before every class (530pm-​6pm) where you can ask him anything related to law school. He is always honest about the pros and cons of pursuing a legal career which I appreciated. He also did a great job of bringing in guest speakers to answer questions you may have.
Nathan is always available to his students. You can always email him and he’ll get back to you. If you have a question about applying, want to send him your personal statement or got stuck on a question he’s your man. I admire how available he makes himself. You can tell he wants to help people succeed on the LSAT and get into the best possible law school they can.
One thing I particularly appreciated is he allowed me to pay on a payment plan. This helped ease some of the financial burden of a $ 500 a month class. His prices are very reasonable and worth every cent but his flexibility was very much appreciated.
Nathan also offered proctored tests on the weekends so you get to mimic test conditions. I found those valuable.
Unless you’re an outstanding test taker my advice would be to take the class for 1 – 2 months. At that point you start to see the patterns in some of the logic games and get a feel for how to set them up and you may be able to recognize certain types of questions throughout the test.
I 100% unequivocally recommend Fox Test prep. I researched a couple of places before choosing Nathan’s class and preferred to support a local business and I can guarantee Nathan is funnier and more effective than any of the big test prep services out there.
