FC Wong Photography

I should point out that I gave FC Wong Photography a modest ⁴⁄₅ stars because I thought his studio didn’t have an album selection. While it has nothing to do with the quality of his work and his professionalism it was a pain to have to make an album yourself. I would have been happy to throw money for someone else to do it. Little did I know that his studio did have such an offering and I was just too forgetful in bridal bliss to remember that it was available. Anyway, my bad! A+++ Fu!!!

We would like to thank F.C. Wong for describing the resolution of the pictures he took and his equipment himself. If you do the math, pictures with a resolution of 2784×1856 pixels have roughly 5 Megapixels, which is a quarter of the 20 Megapixel resolution his camera, a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, is capable of, and also its lowest resolution setting. Fu was absolutely wonderful and I couldn’t be more happy with our wedding photos. He was so professional and knew just how to pose us to get the perfect lighting effect. He also managed to blend into the background, but still captured great shots of everyone. His photo-​journalistic style was exactly what we were looking for and he definitely exceeded our expectations.

Fu was our wedding photographer for our Oct. 2009 wedding at the Ritz at Half Moon Bay. He also did our engagement photos. And he was amazing!
What we appreciated about Fu was, first of all, his style and artistic eye. He is a true photojournalist. If you want a guy who will merely gather groups to click as they smile (OK, all high school friends now… now, all relatives on the bride side!), Fu is not your man. What is the point of those photos, anyways? If it’s a photo your friend or mother could have taken, no need to have a professional there, right?
Fu’s photos are truly fabulous — I kid you not, some of his photos of my parents laughing or friends dancing, they look like stills out of a movie, or something that should be hanging in a gallery. My husband and I are not glamorous in real life, but we sure look it in our wedding photos! And I think that’s what’s important — that your photographer gives you that «something» you can’t get from your friend’s cameras or those disposable cameras on your tables.
We also liked the fact that Fu’s full time career is as a dedicated photographer, not someone who does wedding photography as a weekend job. He takes the wedding itself seriously, and fully appreciates that you are (hopefully) going to have only one of these in your lifetime.
One more kudos: he always timely responded to our e-​mails and/​or calls. We had one vendor (who I won’t name here) who almost NEVER responded to me until I e-​mailed her 2 times or more. It was so frustrating, so we appreciate the good service.
Did I mention he was a nice guy? And funny? :) He was a true pleasure to work with, and he has our warmest recommendation. We are very pleased with our photos.

It was great to have Fu as part of our wedding. He almost always does an engagement shot because he like to get to know couples before the chaotic big day. Getting to know Fu beforehand was wonderful because it’s one less source of uncertainty. He’s extremely professional and talented. You’ll get that sense as soon as you meet him.
Fu didn’t disappoint us on the wedding day, either. He was on the ground, up above– all over the place taking shots. He worked harder than any vendor and even calmed my fiancée and I down when there was a health emergency at the wedding.
You won’t wait long for your photos after the day. His pictures speak for themselves– amazing!
Fu is an all around gem.

My daughter and son-​in-​law chose Fu to photograph their wedding and after meeting the man and seeing a preview of the photos, I know they made an excellent choice. He manages to capture the moment beautifully with his use of light and composition. I am anxiously anticipating seeing the rest of the photos but I know that Emily and Devon will have wonderful images of their wedding day to cherish always.

My husband and I hit the jackpot by having F.C. Wong as our photographer. (Excuse the bad pun. We’re from Las Vegas!) At the time, F.C. was trying to get his name out by offering a «name your own price» promotion. Naturally we had to find out for ourselves if this marketing campaign was too good to be true.
F.C. was very professional, warm, and was receptive to our ideas (like having a high school prom-​like photo booth area where our guests would come take pictures with us instead of us making the rounds to each table). He presented his portfolio and we were impressed by his keen ability to capture human emotion. We wanted a photographer with a natural artistic eye and knew we found the right man for the job.
Our package included an engagement shoot and we had a blast working with F.C. that day in Monterey. He made us feel comfortable and spent a lot of time making sure he got the shots he wanted. When we saw the pictures, we were blown away with how beautiful they turned out.
On the wedding day, F.C. and the second shooter, Gene, were both on-​time and were great about meeting all our family and friends. After seeing some of the sneak peeks, I have no idea how they were able to get those amazing shots with the challenge of poor lighting at my parents’ house and at the church. They were faced with the challenge of rain and the daylight faded quickly prior to the reception but somehow they managed to take exquisite pictures.
Since those «name your own price» package days, F.C. has indeed established himself as a key player in the wedding photography business. I like to think that I «discovered» him before he became so well-​known, haha. Thanks F.C. for chronicling our wedding day in a way we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

This man has the eye of the master. I have seen him in action in San Miguel de Allende at a friend’s wedding. His personality quickly made him a friend to all the guests at the wedding, which gave him access to amazing shots of people unaware of the camera. However, the final product is where Fu’s passion, expertise and instinct come together in pictures that are so artfully shot with angles and composition that bespeak the eye of the master.
