Epicenter Cafe

Didn’t like this place at all. The place is small and VERY LOUD especially with everyone talking and it just echoes everywhere so it’s hard to concentrate if you’re trying to do work. Also, the «free wifi» cuts out after two hours and you need a new code on a piece of paper for each device (if you dare to ask for more than one code). It’s such a hassle, and they have restrictions for each table about how many people can sit there! Does not feel inviting or relaxing like other cafes I’ve been to. The coffee and pastries are average (my muffin was hard and didn’t taste fresh) and you can probably find better at any other coffee shop. Sorry to be such a downer but I will not be returning to this café! There are others that are worth your money (such as Elite Audio Coffee Bar on Folsom and 5^th — great coffee, lots of natural light, actual free wifi and you can stay as long as you like!!)

This place surprised me. There food was really decent I ordered their lox bagel and the smoked salmon was great it wasn’t cooked like cheap smoked salmon it was raw with a delicate smokey flavor. Their lattes were perfect along with a gorgeous Rosetta leaf design. I didn’t expect much from them because their service seemed a little shy but I’m impressed definitely would eat here again.

Best Café Mocha I’ve ever had and it comes in an actual mug which makes it feel like home! Have yet to try the Homemade Blackberry Pie but that’s next! Love this place =)

Very bad service. Got my drink order wrong twice and rolled their eyes when I asked for it to be fixed. likely won’t be back

Fresh tasty food! Will come back here! Waffle with syrup made my fussy 9 yr old very happy! My other kid also enjoyed his food, he had a tasty healthy meal. Great selection for all fussy folk. Very impressed considering the location. We stopped here because there was ample parking.

*Drinks: was here for meeting so I didn’t order any food. But the chai latte is good. The food smells yummy too. Will definitely try one next time
*Service: awesome! Everyone are so friendly. Make your morning much better.
*Line: I was there on Friday around 9.30-ish and the line was not that crazy. Figured it will be busier in the morning.
*The place: there are plenty of seats. I picked the seat by the window to enjoy the sun. There are plenty of power outlet if you do choose to work here. They also have outdoor seating though I wouldn’t recommend that as it’s a busy street and you may encounter some weird people screaming at you for no reason.
*Overall: like it! 5 stars because I don’t see why not.

They make a killer Cubano, which is fairly hard to find in coffee centered SF. Actual food, poached eggs are excellent. A great place to work, free wifi — you can get 1hr or 2hr code when you order.

Stopped by for breakfast and it was $ 13 for a small latte and a breakfast sandwich. So it’s definitely not cheap but the vanilla latte was really good. Probably won’t be back for the food but I could see myself stopping by for another latte as it had a nice balance of espresso and sweetness from the vanilla. I also like that they serve them in actual mugs if you are staying at the café. Even though it was a small, it was a nice size. The pastries looked pretty tasty as well. Apparently they have a one hour wifi limit which if true kind of sucks because a) it wasn’t that busy when I stopped by on a weekday morning (which I assume is their busiest time) b) they have a ton of seating and c) I would be way more likely to stop by if that wasn’t the case and I am guessing others would be too.
Bottom line: They have a nice menu of coffee, espresso, tea, smoothies, shakes, beer, wine, pastries, and actual food. Prices are on the high side overall but that is probably expected for this area.

This is for sure blue bottle quality, and their cold brew is amazing!
There was seating inside, although I didn’t use it.
Bottom line is that it’s a solid coffee shop in SOMA for the high quality coffee snobs of SF.
Looking forward to seeing you soon, but not too soon, because you will for sure empty my wallet if I make this a habit!

Ownership seems to have changed. Vibe changed with it. Service is OK and drinks are OK, but nothing special anymore. Music is now more of a midrange day spa or Best Western lobby. Too bad, since this used to be my favorite low-​key coffeeshop, even before the third wave hit hard a few years ago.

The avocado bash shake is delicious! (BUT pricey at $ 5+) Contains avocados, bananas and yogurt which is a triple threat in creaminess! They have a great seating (tables and couches) if you want to lounge and do work or chat with friends.

This place has been my 2^nd office for a few years now. I love what the new owners have done to clean up the place and provide more seating.
The menu has improved as well! I love their assortment of salads and sandwiches (and comfort food when it’s been a bad day). Their Chicken Ceasar is perfect: generous helping of grilled chicken, right amount of dressing and the shaved Parmesan is a nice visual touch. I often crave it.
Coffee is tasty, too. Chai is good. Flat white is just okay (room for improvement).
Finally, I’ve seen a lot of complaints about limited, one hour wifi. This is false. Every time I’ve visited, I’ve been given two hours. If I need more, I ask. Obviously, if the place is packed with customers waiting for seats, they may turn me down, but it hasn’t happened yet!

Epicenter serves very good coffee, but the Wi-​Fi situation leaves much to be desired. You must ask for a unique passcode that entitles you to one hour of Wi-​Fi. I did not purchase anything after my initial coffee and therefore felt embarrassed to ask for another passcode, but my friend asked for hers and got another one.
I understand wanting to limit squatters all day, but the whole experience makes me want to work out of a different coffee shop.
Stop by if you’re passing through, but keep moving if you want to put down roots!

Good coffee, lots of seats, Wi-​Fi, friendly service, and a nice sunny location. I can’t ask for more than that! And it’s at a great location by other eateries and Whole Foods.

I’ve got to like the staff at Epicenter café, there’s an aura of lightly feigned drama that’s engaging in a nice way today, they had cool music playing and friendly patrons, I don’t mind spending the money on metered parking as at least one does not have to hunt for a parking spot
Also they really have their poached eggs down right with zingy sauce hollandaise or tomato, it’s clean and thought stimulating environment

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I have to say I’ve never written a negative review for any place, but I had a terrible experience there. I was going there intending to work for the day and have a coffee, some lunch, etc. I told them I just wanted to make sure the wifi was good before I bought something because I’m working here for the day and they wouldn’t give me the code. Then I bought a coffee and they gave me a 1 hour pass and said I had to buy something every hour to continue the wifi. Then I asked for my money back because I wanted to go somewhere else and they wouldn’t give me a refund.
Firstly I’ve never been to coffee shop that was this protective over their wifi, secondly I thought it was irresponsible for them to have not told about the limit when they knew I was planning to work here for the day. And the fact that they gave me attitude and refused to refund my money was very unprofessional.

Meh. Saw some pretty good reviews of this place on Unilocal on my way to work and I needed a coffee so I decided to stop by. The décor and interior of the place is pretty lovely, huge glass windows shine some really nice natural light as well.
I ordered a latte to go and just wasn’t a huge fan of the latte. It wasn’t very smooth and it was a little too bitter for my preference. Price was $ 4 which is how much a latte in the city costs these days, so nothing surprising there. But given that there are many many other coffee options in the city, not sure I’ll be returning to this one. Ambiance could be great for studying though, the place is nice.

4 stars for seating area and salads. I had their avocado salad and it was on point. Also, they have very nice relaxing music playing normally and they have 4 couches, 2 in the back and 2 in the front. Lots of seating area inside which makes it perfect for reading, studying, lounging. On a nice day, they also have chairs and table outside. They are dog friendly. I’ve seen lots of people drink their coffee inside with their dogs.
I would give it a three star for coffee and their chai tea latte though. I disagree with the other posts on coffee. They can definitely do a better job.

4– internet: Come on Epicenter people! Seriously! You’re a coffee shop in San Francisco and you allow only one hour of free Internet?! I think people stopped doing that along time ago.
If this place had free Internet for at least 2 hours, I would definitely come back. The atmosphere and the seats are really great here.

I think I’ll have to come a bit more for Epicenter to grow on me. I strategically came during off-​hours to guarantee a seat and enjoy about an hour of work with a nice chai latte. The café is tucked away along the street around the corner from the bright and shiny Whole Foods, attracting a decidedly less perky crowd. It’s bright but a little tired-​looking inside, probably through a combination of well-​worn usage and a lack of renovation. The same tiredness can be applied to the lone staff member in the evening, who went mechanically through the motions of taking my order yet still remembered to ask if I would need Wi-​Fi. After affirming, I received a slip of paper with a code for 1-​hour of Wi-​Fi. The hidden message is that this is not a place to camp out and do online research.
I sat on the black couch towards the back so I could make use of the little bench-​table planted in front of it and the table to the side. It was a pretty comfortable spot, I’m not gonna lie. Since no more customers were coming in, the barista/​cashier/​captain of the ship began wiping tables probably in anticipation of closing time. He wasn’t rude or anything about it, just went through with the same kind of mechanical thoroughness as before.
There are two bathrooms in the back. How to choose? Use the left one (closer to the front door), I already screened for you. It’s brighter, with a better door handle, and more generous soap dispenser. You’re welcome.
I have a hunch that Whole Foods may have allowed prices to float upwards here as items on the menu are more expensive than average. My chai latte, in its peeling Epicenter Café mug, was tasty, as I’m sure other things are too, but it’ll take a few more visits for me to make it feel worth it.

Es un lugar trendy, limpio, agradable, contempóráneo, dónde va la gente que trabaja en las start ups del barrio según un blogger de la ciudad.
Me gusta mucho la decoración. Es un café limpio (el baño también), de tamaño mediano, de decoración moderna con ambiente calorosa gracias a las mesas de madera clara y las ilustraciones en las paredes. A la entrada, hay un área pequeño tipo bar (mesa y silla altas), otro más salón (sofas y mesas bajas), y el resto del local con mesas grandes (2 mesas de 4 personas cada una) y pequeñas (4 o 5 mesas de dos personas) para comer y trabajar al ordenador. La parte del bar que da a la calle es luminosa, al fondo bastante oscuro. Si vienes solo, te piden sentarte a las mesas pequeñas que están en el fondo del estabelicimiento. Puede molestar según quién si trabajas al ordenador. Hay enchufes para el ordenador (no hace falta la bateria). La música es alta. He comido dos veces y estuvó bueno/​normal (hamburger y ensalada). Tiene unas galletas con dulce de leche muy buenos. Según el importe de tu consumición (los precios son moderados tirando a carillos), te dan una hora o dos de acceso a Internet. La conexión me funcionó bien. Ciertas personas del staff podrían ser más amables.
