Edward Eddie Cruz, MD

Brought my child to after hour pediatrics and Dr. Cruz was the doctor on call. We had been to this office before and was very happy with the doctor we saw the first time. Unfortunately, our second time there wasn’t the same.
As a Pediatrician, you would expect one to be sensitive to parents’ feeling. He was not. You would expect the pediatrician to be good with kids/​babies. He was not. You would think he’s listen to your questions and concerns. He did not. I can go on and on…
Unfortunately, our experience with Dr. Cruz was not great. He just didn’t make us feel any better after leaving the office. Would I go back to this After Hours office again? Yes. I think I’ll call first to see who’s on call next time.

I love our child’s primary pediatrician from CPMC… she is great. However, we brought our child to the CPMC Pediatric Evening Referral Clinic and I was completely disappointed at their doctor on call: Dr. Eddie Cruz. Not only did he makes you feel like you should not be bringing your newborn there with his condescending comments… without even understanding the child history or even listening well or letting us parents finishing our sentences. What a joke! I spent an hour leaving a voicemail and talking to his nurse who determined I should bring my baby in and then he made me feel that I brought him for nothing. Horrible bed manner, horrible attitude, condescending… what a jerk. If I ever find out that he is the doctor on call, I prefer to take my child to the ER than dealing with him again. He would be the very last doctor I would choose as primary pediatrician for our children.
I am even surprised that the Sacramento Latino Medical Association has it as part of the board:
. I would expect them to at least have doctors representing them that can deal respectfully with children and their latin families.
What a disappointment for us as Latinos, for El Salvador, for University of California at Davis Medical Center, for University of California at Berkeley, for the Children’s Hospital of Oakland and for San Francisco.
