We found Ciaran on Unilocal.After many disappointing interactions with contractors in trying to get bids, it was refreshing to finally have someone respond who was willing to work with us and the work we wanted. My husband met with him first and immediately got a good feeling. Ciaran is responsive and always communicating what’s going on and is just an overall pleasant and super nice guy. We had a rather large deck job plus new French Doors and window installations and I must say I am extremely happy with the finished product. He really made an effort to work with us and our budget — which is a BIG plus in this competitive market — and finished pretty quickly! No surprises in the end and we couldn’t be happier about using our new and improved space. We have other plans for home improvement work and will definitely be using Ciaran in the future. You can tell by the consistently great reviews that Ciaran and his team are some of the best in the business, at very competitive prices. Unlike most contractors, he is always communicating, you are never left wondering what is happening next, and his team is VERY quick. He did a great job setting our expectations correctly so that he accommodates all our requests but also tells you when we’re a little crazy! I like that honesty.
Best of all, he and his team are always pleasant to have in your home. The amount of clean-​up they do at the end of each day is worth its weight in gold. He has been in our home twice now. Three years ago he created built-​ins, renovated a half bath, redid a kitchen backsplash, among other medium-​size projects. He coordinated electrical, tile, carpentry without a hitch. I have to say the built-​ins were done at a very competitive price but it looks like I paid a fortune for them. The craftsmanship shines through in all of his work and everyone that walks into my home comments on these gorgeous built-​ins.
More recently we needed to replace our old roof, so we used that as an opportunity to add a skylight in a windowless room, and addressed some mold under the stucco at the front of our home. Three weeks was all it took from the moment he dropped of a quote/​contract to the last sweeping of the sidewalk. Now they’re finished and I still can’t believe how much they got done while other friends are still waiting for a contractor to call them back. You feel like you are his only client but I know he had several other busy jobs going on at the same time — he’s just a whiz at scheduling his team to be in the right place at the right time.

We hired Ciaran after getting a couple estimates and finding him on Unilocal.Ciaran helped rebuild a rotten deck tied into floor joists on a slope, 30 feet above ground. He was easy to work with, very competitive on the bid, very clean including plastic zip enclosure in the bedroom where work was being done. We found Ciaran on Unilocal.From the beginning you can tell that he’s on top of his game. He’s honest, hardworking and a great communicator. We had him install 2 sets of french doors, a shower/​tub glass enclosure and a few other minor touch ups around the house. He finished as promised and was extremely pleasant to work with. Just an all around great guy and goes out of his way to make sure that you are happy with his work. My wife and I would highly recommend Ciaran and his crew.

I live in an old Mission Victorian duplex. In mid-​May the owner of the other flat announced that he was moving and would be selling pronto. But the backstairs were pretty rotten and obviously needed work before a sale.
I called several contractors, including Ciaran at Edenavow. He came out quickly, gave a good quote, and understood that we needed to get started rather quickly. Several others came out and quoted, but couldn’t start for months. Others came out and never got back to me with a quote. There is sooo much building in SF right now our basic backstairs are just small potatoes. We chose Edenavow for Ciaran’s responsiveness and honest friendly manner, quoted price, and ability to start within a few weeks.
Ciaran understood our timeline. When I asked if we could start the Tuesday after Memorial Day he was honest and said maybe if we were really lucky, but certainly by the next Monday. He kept in contact that week via text and email, and Monday it was.
He handled the entire permit and inspection processes. The work was done by Friday and inspected/​approved the following Monday. And after the inspectionwe asked him to do a few odds and ends. He did it right then, including building a little garden gate from the extra lumber to keep my dogs out from under the deck, for no extra cost.
He and his crew showed up early each day about 7:30 and worked until 4:30 or so. They were so quiet before 8am, getting prepped before the real noise started, it was amazing. Everyone was very polite and friendly on the crew, and the back area was cleaned up nicely at the end of each day. When things were half-​built at the end of the work day warning tape was put up and I was notified by text not to walk out the back door.
For the painting we used Evert, a painter who works with Edenavow regularly, I think. He and his crew did a great job as well, were quiet, clean, and friendly. My dogs even liked them! It was nice that these two guys could keep in contact about our wee project.

Edenavow built a detached building addition behind my house and I am very happy with the work done by Ciaran and his crew. Ciaran is conscientious and honest, always quick to respond to communication, and very easy to work with. He made sure everything was done right and finished in a timely manner. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire Edenavow again and will recommend them to anyone looking for a contractor.

Ciaran at Edenavow is pretty much fantastic to work with. He made the whole process of remodeling a bathroom (in a one-​bath apartment) relatively painless. Everything was cleaned up and in its place at the end of each day (even after the demo day, when it was gutted down to the studs).
Ciaran and his entire team were professional, on time, courteous and qualified. I would work with them again in an instant. He answered all of my questions, listened to my ideas, and came up with suggestions and solutions. His carpentry skills blew me away, recreating a detailed door frame to match the others in the house and a custom shelving unit.
With a heated floor and tile to the ceiling, I am very very happy with the new bathroom. Absolutely superb results!

Ciaran and his team are exceptional. If your like me, you’ve had mixed reviews (at best) with contractors. Frustration starts and ends with miscommunication, missed expectations and missed due dates– not so with Ciaran and Edenavow. Forget about the need to micro manage Ciaran because you’ll never have to. What you get is an extremely detailed oriented crew that’s on top of everything. Even the clean up was more than you would expect from a contractor. I never saw tools or equipment laying around for days on end. What’s more, Ciaran makes sure he’s proactively checking in throughout the job to ensure that quality work is being done.
He installed a beautiful fireplace, sound proofed my cieling and managed a fantastic job painting older looking shaker kitchen cabinets; making them look new and contemporary. These were advanced jobs that required somebody that really knew what he was doing– especially the fireplace renovation. I’m absolutely certain that any other contractor would still be working on everything.
Edenavow makes renovation mentally manageable and thats huge. Theres an attention to detail and workmanship thats unmatched. Like all the other reviews on here, I strongly recommend Edenavow.

We recently went through the condo conversion process which required we do some repairs to our building. We hired Edenavow and couldn’t be more happy with the job they did. Ciaran and his team were great to deal with and everything looks great. Ciaran is very familiar with city requirements and codes, and was a tremendous help in coordinating with the city inspectors and getting everything signed off. I highly recommend them.

Our house was a real fixer upper. After spending about a year and a half on the inside we decided to start on the outside. We knew we needed the fences repaired, but were toying with adding a deck and getting the house painted sometime later this year. Well, once we met Ciaran we decided to do all three at once and he took care of it all and more.
We couldn’t ask for better than Ciaran and his team. Ciaran met with us each morning to go over what was to be done for the day. He was always right on time and answered all of our questions. He updated us throughout the day and at the end of the day checked in with us to see how we liked what had been done so far. He was also very patient with us as we made changes along the way. He adapted quickly and met our needs. We added a lot of little things, from plumbing to electrical and Ciaran took care of it all. Ciaran’s team was amazing. Having all this work done you would think they’d be noisy, but I could hardly hear them. They cleaned up each day and were very nice and professional. They finished the job right when they said they would, even working on weekends! The end price was right with the quote and his prices for a few additional items were extremely fair.
All that said, the most important thing is the finished product and it’s just simply amazing. The fence is beautiful and the deck is amazing. I can’t even believe it’s our backyard. Ciaran’s team’s attention to detailed is astounding. Everything looks perfect. I love going into our backyard to stand on our deck and admire our fences.
As you can tell I highly recommend Edenavow Construction for any job you might have. We definitely will be working with Ciaran in the future and totally look forward to it.

Over the last three years, I have hired Edenavow for both large and smaller projects for my home in San Francisco and they always do an excellent job. Ciaran Dowler is the proprietor and is honest, hard working and an excellent craftsman. He truly cares about his clients and wants them to be happy — a rare characteristic these days! His work is top notch and he is a delight to work with… always pleasant and of good cheer and temperament! He also has a great eye for esthetics and a strong sense of detail, so one never wonders if he will be happy with sub contractors who don’t «get it» or try to encourage you to accept less than excellent work. If he does not get it right the first time (which in my experience is extremely rare) he will make it right so that his customers are happy!

Based on my previous experiences, I never thought an honest, hard working, efficient and reasonable contractor could be found. Ciaran proved me wrong. Whether you need a simple fence replaced or have a major remodeling project, Ciaran is the consummate professional that will get the job done… on time and on budget. His work crew is very professional and he has a great working relationship with his subcontractors. He is a true craftsman and a master wood worker. Ciaran will provide you with daily progress updates and he will not rest until you are truly happy with the finished product. I’m lucky to have found Ciaran as my general contractor and would recommend him in a heartbeat. Just don’t get intimidated by his behemoth truck pulling up in front of your house… behind the wheel is a very kind and friendly guy that you will quickly make friends with.

Ciaran has done a wonderful job for me on several homes. His attention to detail, communication, scheduling and timeliness are stellar. He’s designed and built a large 2^nd story deck, rebuilt the structure on a kitchen and upgraded more than a few windows. Edema ow Construction and Ciaran Dowler were excellent in getting our T I C to satisfy DBI requirements for our condo conversion. We were nervous because finding a talented and trustworthy contractor is not a simple task. Ciaran was always there supervising the subcontractors, watching over their work, was prompt for all appointments and really diligent. We asked him to handle an upgrade to our bathroom as well, and he took us to look at tiles, basins, etc, he even had a friend customize a shower door to match what we envisioned. he really goes out of his way, is cheerful, funny and a great guy. watch out for his super-​size truck!,

Ciaran is highly professional, accomodating, diligent, open to ideas, and trustworthy. He arranged for the painting of our house and installed exterior shutters and did not rest until we were absolutely happy with the result. He made what started out as a daunting task, into a genuinely enjoyable process. We would certainly call him for any of our future home improvement adventures.

With any major building contract when you sign up and start you wonder how you will feel about your contractor at the end. I thought Ciaran was a very nice man when I met him at the start, while at the end my opinion was completely reinforced and strengthened.
Of the many good qualities Ciaran and his team demonstrate, is the willingness to stick to the scope and charge you what he tells you upfront. He’s not a guy to underbid and then come back and «scope-​creep».
Ciaran has gone above and beyond for us. As one example last weekend I realized due to a break in to our car, that someone might have a front door key. I was out of town and all it took was a call to Ciaran. He saved me a 4 hour drive home and had the locksmith in within hours while he supervised. He even payed the guy out of his own pocket for me to pay him when I saw him next.
I would totally recommend him to others and would be willing to speak to anyone wanting to speak directly (please arrange call through Ciaran).

Ciaran is a one-​stop shop. He has a great team of people that he has assembled. The project was to totally remodel a ground floor studio with bathroom, top to bottom. Everything was made new: the ceiling with inset lighting on a dimmer, new wood floor, new sliding glass door, new window, new tiled stall shower with glass door, new bathroom ventilation, new lighting, new vanity, toilet, new light in closet with wall switch, and all new electrical.
We went shopping for the bathroom accessories and vanity and Ciaran knew which sinks/​cabinets would work and was great about measuring so that we could make the exact right choice for the small space we had to work with. He even came on a day he wasn’t even working at the project, just to help, when my friend was injured and I needed help to move a piece of furniture into the studio, plus he brought a helper with him. In addition, he fixed the leg on the furniture, which wasn’t even part of the project he was hired to do.
Ciaran has great attention to detail and made sure that the details were completed properly and was very responsive to any of my questions or concerns. I give him and his team the highest praise. They always cleaned up after themselves everyday. I can’t say enough good things about Ciaran and his work ethic. Plus he’s a lovely person with a wonderful Irish accent.

My wife and I had been looking for someone to remodel our kitchen for a couple years and had no luck. We saw a handful of local companies like California Kitchens but everyone wanted to just rip everything out and re-​do everything and charge us $ 15,000 to $ 20,000. Mind you we have a Victorian in the Mission district so our thoughts were always to keep a some of elements of the house.
While at a dinner party at our neighbors house we noticed the owners wonderfully re-​modeled kitchen and asked about the work. The owner, Malia was quick to mention Ciaran Dowlers work from– Edenavow Construction. The next day I called Ciaran and he came by the same day and gave me a reasonable estimate.
A couple of weeks later Ciaran and his guys got started and finished the whole job in two weeks. He came in about $ 2,000 under budget and without any issues. He was always professional, up front and most importantly communicated with us at every step of the process.

We found Ciaran through my hairdresser, who is his sister-​in-​law. We wanted to do something with our backyard wall to make it less visible from the street, so our kids could freely play in the backyard. Our house is situated on the corner so we felt the backyard was just too accessible, and in today’s world, you can’t be too careful with your kids.
Ciaran came right out, took a look around, then gave me a quote a day or two later, based on our original plans to add on to the existing wall. Then, we ended up changing the job on him in that we decided to do almost a complete teardown of the existing wall and put up all new fencing. Ciaran immediately changed his estimate to accommodate our changes, and went right to work. My husband and I always found him to be gracious, flexible, and very responsive.
Our new backyard wall, fence, and gate has changed our lives. We spend so much time in the backyard, and not to mention the value added to our house. I can let my kids play back there without worrying about someone coming by to snatch them, because NO ONE is getting through that gate (see pic).
Our fence and gate are GORGEOUS, and if I wasn’t so leery about strangers coming by and gawking, I’d give you my address for you to see yourself, but for now, I’ll settle as a reference and this review in Unilocal
