It is the Christmas day, we stopped by Mission district at noon time, and found this was the only place open for food. We were happy… yeah! But, when we brought bakery, café, drinks. My wife also got couple cups of water at the self-service station, immediately, the lady work at the counter say loundly, «50 cents per cup, you need to pay.» Well, if they really charging 50 cents per cup of hot water, they should put up a sign.

Starved — i found this place in a pinch — I was hopeful! it was Sunday afternoon — didnt have cash, they had a 10 $ minimum on a card. i got a grab bag of pastries for myself and others — seemed like it was 3 days old, hard, stale and without flavor. I got them from the front cases, choc chip, macaroon, turnovers, custard filled, chocolate covered, etc — No good … 2 other people tried them and gave a worse review. I threw every item i tried into the garbage — Big Disappointment. I did see buns rolling out of there like hot cakes, so probably not all bad… ? i was so disturbed by the lack of flavor, stale texture and poor timing — how old were those pastries!??, that i wont be trying again.

A dollar a pork bun, are you freaking kidding me!!! I almost died of happiness. We had been walking from bookstore to bookstore in the Mission without any snacks, so when I saw this place I went in and bought five things and ate them all immediately. Between three people we tried the pork buns, onion rolls, hot dog rolls, cream-filled eclairs, and sesame seed balls. Everything was bomb.

OK I have been a regular customer of this place for a long time. The baked goods are great and the people who run the place are nice. My problem with them is lately the owners have allowed too many hangers on who buy little or nothing to take up all of the seating in the place for hours on end. It is common to try and go in and have a snack or lunch and run into the same group of 12 or more people taking up all of the seats when only one or two of them bought a soda or a drink. This means the rest of us who might buy a meal or a snack have no place to sit. Recently the counter gal said I have not seen you in awhile what gives,? I frankly told her you need to get the deadbeats out of here so we have some place to sit. The management is clueless on this having recently reduced the seating from 16 seats to only 12. If I ran the place seating would be reserved for paying customers not neighborhood deadbeats which nothing better to do than mess with their business.

I was astounded to find a Chinese bakery in the Mission on Unilocal, but lo and behold, it actually exists and is totally legit. Bakery pumps out the usual Chinese baked goods, though they were out of BBQ pork buns when I went. I picked up a massive egg custard tart for a party for $ 5(I think), and I really couldn’t stop eating it myself… Great place to pick up a pastry for a weekend coffee!

We were walking by, headed to lunch, the delicious smell from this bakery grabbed us as we walked by. We bought a coconut bun, a sesame ball, and a thin crunchy cinnamon roll type pastry. All three were delicious. So many other things looked and sounded good it was difficult to narrow it down to just three! It was a nice surprise to come across this little bakery. Oh, the prices were extremely good also!

Victor’s review jogged my memory to review this place. My mom was in tow and wanted to grab a few items. To the best of my recollection, it was the only chinese bakery in the immediate area. The few buns and things we tried were OK. Not too dry, but not very memorable either. Just glad that there is one here for the hankering!

To be fair, I haven’t been to this place but my dad saw the crowd and decided to check it out. He brought home a coffee jelly roll which has surprisingly a light and airy textures that you look for in a jelly roll. Instead of some questionable heavy cream you get every place else, these guys manage to make a very good barely even greasy coffee cream filling. So good yet thoughtful of them to do so rather than slapping on a heavy coat of your standard heavy cream. Looking forward to checking out other items next time. Skip the jelly roll from Golden Gate Bakery, they only do 1 thing right IF/WHEN they’re not«on vacation», egg tarts and overprice ones.

I needed a half sheet birthday cake on one day notice, and since my usual spot(Schuberts) isn’t the most conveniently located, I ordered a cake from AA Bakery in Chinatown and picked it up at their sister store on Mission. Their Mission location is just a couple blocks from BART, perfect for those without a car. The cake itself was just a classic Chinese style white cake with whipped cream and fresh fruit. It was there on time, looked nice, and tasted decent— the actual cake was a little more dense than I would’ve liked, but really not terrible. I’d placed my order through AA Bakery and while the person spoke perfect English and repeated the price to me three times, I was charged $ 10 more than quoted and when asked, I was told that I’d misheard. Maybe I made a mistake, or maybe I got ripped off… not quite sure. Next time I’ll place the order in person and not over the phone. Still, not a bad place to get a birthday cake if in a pinch, and definitely better than Costco(though triple the cost).

Reasonable price bakery with great Nepolean! It’s a hole in the wall kind of Chinese bakery but it’s good!

Cheap passable coffee. Cheap passable pastries. If you’re having an especially poor day, you can get 3 decently-sized French rolls for under a buck. Stay away from the pies. They’re cheap for a reason…

OK, so I like their french baguettes better than Grand Bakery, and both places charge 35 cents(or 4 for $ 1), but the lady who works here has a maaaaajor attitude problem.

«Greasy Spoon» «Hole-in-the-Wall», «Grub», «Bang for your Buck» meals. Dishes on the first page of the menu were less than $ 7. They speak Chinese and they serve«homestyle» types of Cantonese foods. Bathroom was dirty

WHOA? I APPROVE. If I lived nearby, I could see myself coming here every morning to grab some cheap Chinese bun breakfast eats. Many different bun selections! Only $.50 to $.90 each. DEAL? ORDEAL? Advice. Come in the morning for the best selections. Fresh. Warm. Cheap. Delicious.

Matrix of cookies: Chocolate chip pill? Or white pill? White was the path unknown and only a $ 0.40 investment. Bit crunchy, sweet, different. Think chocolate chip still has a hold over me.

A local Chinese bakery that offers cheap and tasty Chinese and American buns, pastries, and cakes. Variety of items: They have a variety of Chinese pastries including: hot dog buns, red bean buns, onion buns, custard buns, pineapple buns, cocktail buns, pork buns, cream buns, dinner buns, sponge cakes, walnut cookies, almond cookies, and egg tarts. In addition to Chinese pastries, they also have muffins, donuts, croissants, danishes, bread pudding, etc. They also sell a variety of custom-made cakes and cakes by the slice. Cheap prices: The prices are unbeatable! Buns typically range from $ 0.50 to $ 0.90 each. Egg tarts are $ 0.90. The bread pudding is $ 0.50 each. Baguettes are $ 1.50 for a few. I paid only around 4 dollars for 2 custard buns + 1 cream bun + 1 egg tart + 1 bread pudding + 1 pork bun! Tasty and fresh: All the pastries I got were very fresh. The buns were soft and chewy and the egg tart had the perfect consistency. The only bad thing about this place is that there is a $ 10 minimum to use credit/debit cards with a 10% fee… so remember to bring cash! This place is definitely worth a visit though if you’re in the area!

A typical hole in the wall bakery, but I love hole-in-the-walls, so who’s complaining? The décor is nothing to marvel at(it might even be nonexistent) but the selection of baked goods offered is very nice and the prices are cheap! I got a cream corn bun, a BBQ pork bun, a pineapple bun, and an egg tart all for $ 3.10. How do you beat prices like that? They have all the classics here, including sponge cake(regular, mango, and lemon!), donuts, turnovers, steamed buns. They were good, but not necessarily the best of anything that I’d ever had. Egg tart was a good size, at least as big as my palm, and the custard was smooth and delish with a flaky pastry. The woman working the register was friendly even if her English wasn’t the greatest, and I enjoyed being able to afford anything that caught my eye.

I order about 70 pastries from this place every month for my work employee breakfast. Everything is always fresh and tasty. Cocktail buns, ham and cheese with egg, pork bun, coconut crème, egg tarts, hot dog buns, green onion buns, raisin buns, white cake with fruit, and they used to make sesame balls which were very tasty, but the pastry chef doesn’t have time to make them anymore. The staff are always very nice and friendly. I call in to order 2 days ahead of time. If I drop by to order, I put down a deposit. no fuss. no frills. just great chinese pastries. thumbs up: friendly service. consistent pastries thumbs down: no parking near by. street parking and there is a bus stop right in front.
