When it comes to Dr. Bart, the first thing that doesn’t come to mind is warm and fuzzy. Her bedside manner isn’t the greatest but I think she tries though but you are who you are. I don’t think of warmth and general sweetness when I think of Dr. Bart.
The eye exam was somewhat painful for my tender eyes and I really don’t know if my eye health got better or worst after seeing her.
As for the billing, it was very expensive and exudes greediness.
Will I see her again for my future eye exams? The answer is a definite no since my first and last experience with her was not that great.
She came recommended so I went to see her but there won’t be a second appointment!

Dr. Bart provided adequate resources so that when I had an emergency during non-​business hours, I was given a call by the doctor covering her. When I needed my prescription in an emergency, it was emailed to me immediately. She has always been willing to work with me.

While it’s true that Dr. Bart works very quickly (my eye exam lasted less than 5 minutes) I found her bedside manner to be more efficient, than rude or abrupt.
I am writing this review though in regards to her biliing staff. Even though I was assured before my appointment that our insurance covered a «routine eye exam» I received a bill for the full amount. Called Dr. Bart’s office and was told that our insurance refused to pay and that Dr. Bart’s office had properly billed it, though it was clear from my conversation that it had been incorrectly billed. To quote the woman I spoke to, «It’s not us, it’s (insurance company).» I called the insurance company who confirmed that Dr. Bart’s office had incorrectly billed my visit. Gentleman I spoke to put me on hold, called Dr. Bart’s office, cleared it up and told me that it was taken care of. When I called back and spoke to the same woman at Dr. Bart’s office, there was no apology, just «It’s okay.» My family will look for a new ophthalmologist.

I saw Dr. Bart last year for my yearly appt, and she wasn’t very helpful. I told her my contacts weren’t strong enough and I wanted to get the exam hoping for a better prescription. I knew by memory my prescription but I didn’t have any old contact boxes to show her as a reference. After the exam, she basically said «you have astigmatism, there’s not much I can do since we don’t have any of your old contact boxes, let’s use the prescription you remember.»
Uhhh, so what if I didn’t have any old contact boxes for you to reference? Isn’t that what the exam is for? =/

Not helpful, extremely arrogant. Would not recommend. The entire checkup lasted around 10 – 15 minutes. When asking about options for helping with dry eyes, Dr. Bart’s response was simply «go to sleep earlier». I explained that this was not an option with my work schedule and wanted to look into punctal plugs. She said that she has them herself, loves them, but refused to put them in and reiterated that I should instead go to sleep earlier.
Unfortunately not all of us have a 9:00am-1:00pm work schedule.

Echoing a few other reviews which have said the same thing: Dr. Bart is missing the #1 rule of running her own practice — patient centricity!
If you want to be treated like a human being instead of a payment source, stay far away from this doctor’s office. The staff at Dr. Bart’s office are hostile, unaccommodating, and utterly unprofessional in tone with regard to patient respect.
As a result, my general eye doctor has removed Dr. Bart’s office from his list of opthamologists that he refers patients to. You should too.

I am a physician myself and was initially happy to be seeing a local ophthalmologist. She seemed nice enough but her business practices, I am afraid, will be her downfall for her private practice. She has a very strict cancellation policy (for which I was charged $ 70), and her front desk staff are incredibly impolite. Despite paying a co-​pay for my first visit, I was sent a bill later for my two visits with a total for another $ 60 (the second visit for which I was seen for 5 minutes). I feel for her as a physician struggling to keep up her own practice. However, she is missing rule number 1 in running a business– customer satisfaction and warmth! Best of luck to her! However, for all those patients out there — beware before considering going to see her!

My recent visit with Dr. Bart was sub-​optimal. In my experience (and interestingly, as others have echoed here), her bedside manner is abrupt and she is generally unapproachable.
My first appointment with Dr. Bart was relatively uneventful (though far from cheery) and I suppose that’s why, a year later, I returned. At my second visit, I was made to wait nearly half an hour for my exam, despite an empty waiting room and a seemingly quiet day. After the receptionist tapped on Dr. Bart’s closed door three times, she eventually emerged, and quickly moved into my exam room with a rushed apology for keeping me waiting. I told Dr. Bart that I was on my lunch break and that given how much time had elapsed, I could either reschedule the appointment for a future date, or we could conduct the exam in five minutes if that were even possible. She opted for the five minute exam and actually finished in four.
She asked me if I felt my eyes had changed since the year before and I could not possibly answer that question. She ran me through a very quick series of tests and announced that nothing had changed and I did not need an updated prescription. I could not believe that our visit was so brief (my car gets more attention when I get it smog checked). I worked it out that between my co-​pay ($ 60) and the charge I’m going to likely have to pick up for refraction ($ 75), I will have paid $ 33.75 a minute for that visit. Lord knows what my insurance company was billed.
All around bummer and definitely not headed back there for my next annual eye exam.

I recently had my annual eye check-​up. No changes in eye health for the past i5 years. I’m still using the same glasses for the past five years. The experience was wonderful and very professional.

I LOVE Dr. Bart!!! I have been seeing her for several years and she is always very thorough and explains everything. I’m shocked to read the few negative reviews.

Dr. Bart is amazing, No matter whether a routine exam or something more serious she is ALWAYS thorough and acts out of genuine concern. A great eye doctor!

I’ve worked with many ophthalmologists over the years. I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Bart. Very knowledgable, skillful, and practical. I highly recommend her.

I have been going to Dr. Bart for a few years — and found my recent experience to be most unpleasant, and I will never be returning.
After having waited for 30 minutes, my visit was rushed.
Dr. Bart gave me contacts to try on — taking them out of the package, touching them, and giving them to me — WITHOUT washing her hands!
VERY ALARMING to think that your eye doctor wouldn’t wash her hands before giving you something to put in your eye.
Additionally, she did not tell me to wash my hands — and I had to ask her where the nearest sink was — WHAT?! Hard to fathom, I know.
All of my past appointments with her have lasted about 10 – 15 minutes, and cost SO much money!!! $ 170 for a CONTACT FITTING? is this a joke? I would hope so…
Lastly, the people working in her office are extremely unpleasant. The manager Sonya is unaccommodating, rude, and disrespectful.
Overall, really unpleasant experience and I would highly discourage anyone to even try it out.

Dr. Dilys Bart is efficient (economical as one reviewer put it), thorough, and highly professional. With a gentle rather quiet manner, she is also very kind and thoughtful and does not make a lot of small talk, which is great. I consider myself very fortunate to have her as my ophthalmologist.

Inner corner of my left eye has been red (to pink now) for about 4 weeks and finally got a referral from my doctor to see Dr. Bart. I arrived 15 minutes early, filled out the new patient paperwork, waited for less than 15 minutes, went in to see Dr. Bart, and was out in under 30 minutes. The receptionists were friendly. Dr. Bart was very nice, perky, professional, and answered all the questions I had. I was glad to find out that nothing was wrong, and that it was probably due to long-​term contact wear.
I don’t care for how a doctor’s office looks like, but I can see how some may not like how her waiting area is shared with another office and you can hear all the receptionists chatting and making phone calls.
Bottom line: great doctor, efficient, and I would definitely recommend her.

Wow! It’s so nice to find an excellent opthamalogist, finally. I’ve been really impressed with Dr. Bart over my past visits. She’s got great bedside manner: very friendly and a good listener and she really seems to know the contact product lines. She’s prescribed a new brand of contacts for me that are way more comfortable than the ones that optometrists had me in. I really trust her judgment. I’m so happy to have found her!

Great doctor, great staff. As a health care professional myself (dentist), I appreciate Dr. Bart’s conservative approach to treatment. Last year I had an infection in one eye so I called for an appointment, she was booked solid but her staff asked if she would work late to see me (they didn’t know I was a health professional). She did work past her office hours to see me. Now that doctor who truly cares, believe me, I took notes.

Utterly INCOMPETENT. Grossly mis-​prescribed antiviral dosage for my fiancée’s eye issue resulting in permanent eye damage and life long pain. After the diagnosis she went on vacation and neither her nor her office were available or returned calls.
On top of that she is insisting on charging us a missed appointment fee for a visit my fiancée missed which at the height of her illness in excruciating pain.
This woman should not be practicing.

Not the best ophthalmologist I’ve been too, but I liked her ok.
Waiting is not much of a hassle, nor is making an appointment.
Just sometimes I felt like the everything had to be done in a certain amount of time.
It didn’t take long for her to figure out what the problem was. I had top go back twice for a contact fitting. And still, they don’t do much good.

She came recommended off Unilocal and from my insurance company so I decided to give her a try. Making an appointment was hassle free and there was no wait, however I was not impressed with the level of care I received.
I went in to see her due to what appeared to be a cyst on my eyelid. After self-​diagnosing myself online and coming to the conclusion that there is nothing that can be done, I went in to get her professional opinion anyway to make sure there was nothing else seriously wrong as I am not a medical doctor and online diagnosis can be incorrect.
I described to her what I thought was a chalazion on my eyelid (a cyst) and that I had read that the only remedy for this condition is hot compresses. After a 5 min half-​assed vision check, she proclaimed yes, I had a chalazion, and to keep doing what I was doing at home with hot compresses. And charged me $ 250. Total doctor visit time– a whopping 8 minutes.
I understand its difficult to be a doctor in this city but for that kind of money, I expected her to at least examine the cyst and actually CHECK to make sure it was a chalazion and not take my word for it, which, she did.
After I developed what appeared to be another cyst in my other eye, I went to another eye doctor recommended by a family friend and he not only gathered my medical history and asked multiple questions about my lifestyle, etc, he also examined the cysts, gathered a culture swab for testing, and seemed genuinely concerned for my eyes. Dr. Dilys seemed distant, disconnected, and uninterested in my problem.
Not trying to be spiteful or vengeful, but I would not recommend this doctor to other people reading my review as I feel the level of care I received from her was sub par and more adequate care can be found elsewhere in the city.
