Been here a few times and am always so happy with the results, can’t beat it. Making appointments online is so easy and makes for a great experience.

I’ve been coming here a little over a year. Notch never disappoints. Laid back, friendly atmosphere matched with the cleanest cuts I’ve ever had. Great location just blocks from my office (which matters to me) and close to all the shopping and fun of Union Square.
If you want a fresh cut, go see Notch. He’ll take care of you.

One of the best hair salons for male females and children. A great location in the Union Square area with a wonderful view on the 12^th floor and don’t forget to ask for the barbershop coffee it’s one of the best mature drinks to have.

Needed a haircut while at a conference in SF. I found it using Unilocal of course. The reviews are accurate. It’s a great place to get a haircut. My barber was very attentive to detail and took his time to make my hair look nice. I was able to make an appointment for the same day and was attended exactly on time. The location was the only hard part. It’s near union square located between two department stores. You go in a door and up an elevator. Ask the guy sitting at the desk what floor to go to.

Well cut hair for a reasonable price in a laid back setting! When I come back to SF and need a haircut this is the place I’m heading.

Called and asked for one person I read about and was happy cause he was available. I got cleaned up today and I honestly like it — a lot. I should be back shortly. I got a nice clean fade. Pony tail
all this week so I can show it off.

Was looking around for a spot to get a clean fade/​tape and found Details on here. Went to Notch, the man knows what he’s doing. Definitely going back when I need to get cleaned up. Good spot where a guy can talk about sports and get a fresh cut.

I was looking for a barber in the downtown area and decided to give this barbershop a try. Great decision this was! I didn’t have an appointment but Notch took me in! He was friendly and chatted 49ers/​Saints while he worked his talents. Found my new barber.

I’m very particular about my haircuts and have been on the road traveling for business the last few weeks. In dire need of a cut I turned to TopNotch as they had a good rating on here and were in close proximity to my hotel. The service was fast, the vibe was cool, and most importantly, I got a great haircut. Will be sure to stop by the next time I’m in town.

My man Notch hooked me up. Took his time and gave me something I could tell he put some thought into. Price is a tad steep but worth it.

Great service, convent location and a really spiffy hair cut. I’ll write more later but I’d certainly tell you to give these guys a shot.

A year later and I’m still happy that I chose Notch. I’m starting to believe he’s the best barber I’ve ever been to. Extremely punctual, and my cut is always sharp. I have no complaints. Not to mention the intellectual conversations in the shop.

I made an appointment for 4:00 and showed up at 3:55. I waited until 4:25 without even an acknowledgement that I was there. Then, when it was my turn the gentleman that was supposed to cut my hair decided to take someone without an appointment before me for a quick beard trim. At that time I walked out because when I have an appointment I wouldn’t expect to be at the barber for over an hour for a simple haircut.
Aside from that haircuts are $ 45. The guy seemed cool enough that is why I dont give one star.

I was very disappointed with the bad attitude and service from this dump. I waited for ½ hour before the rude black guy asked if I had an appt. when I told him that I didn’t, he then skipped me to took another customer. His whole attitude was rude and discriminatory. The other barber at one point, took out his phone to text someone, while he was in the middle of a cut. I couldn’t believe it. I left without a haircut which I am very grateful for.

I was excited about my first ever shave, which didn’t disappoint. The hot towel, steam and gentle exfoliation, all taking place within an ever-​present yet unacknowledged threat of decapitation, made for an amazing experience (and shave). I plan to make this just the first of an ongoing indulgence.
The surprise though was the haircut. I’ve reached the point where the street’s been busy for so long that very little grass grows. This doesn’t bother me in itself, but it leads to unpleasant choices. Do you crop it completely, which I thought was the kindest approach aesthetically, yet requires quite a lot of maintenance and expense? Do you engage in magical thinking and convince yourself that your comb-​over will succeed where others failed? Do you dress up as Mr. Clean each and every day?
None of the above, so I’ve discovered. You just go see Notch. He did a beautiful blend or maybe it’s a taper in the back that created texture and a facsimile of volume and found the sweet spot for the length (s) of those buggers on top that stick straight up when cut too short and droop toward the comb-​over side if left too long. The result is something close to a styled, sharp head of hair.
There was no fuss. Nice unforced talk and comfortable silence, punctuality and courtesy. I’m a new and future customer.

All I gotta say that every time I walk outta here, that fresh cut got me feeling like the man. Great atmosphere, great people and great service. I mos def recommend this shop.

Came in from Seattle looking for a lineup, found this place, literally the best decision of my trip. Sergio squeezed me and a buddy in as a walk in, hung out, super laid back atmosphere, but the cuts are razor sharp.
This is THE barber shop. Classic in every sense. Can’t speak high enough about this shop.

Found Notch on Unilocal.With no personal recommendation I took a shot and it worked out. He’s the real deal — good small shop in a great location. The haircut was solid for a clipper cut. I could benefit from a scissor trim at the end to clean up stray hairs but to be honest I didn’t ask (or pay extra for) a scissor cut. If he had handled that proactively it’d be a 5-​star review ;-)
Notch is a personable guy, does a great job, and the view from the shop is outstanding. Highly recommended.

Found my new barber. Notch came highly recommended from my buddy who said he was the best and he didn’t disappoint. I was a little hesitant at first to put down the extra money as im used to putting down less than $ 18 at a local barber shop, but this was well worth it, definitely a master of his craft. You may not think it, but there are drastic differences. He can essentially do any cut you want, just tell him. If I had a beard I would probably get my beard cut from him as well. Also love what he did to the place, had photos of the G.O.A.T — MJ, all across the room and that in itself was dope.
Scheduling was cake, he’s got a system where you can just book online, and he was pretty prompt.
Overall, had a great experience, great conversations and best of all a highly satisfying cut.
