David Yee, DDS

I want to join the chorus for Dr. Yee, he is the best there is! I went to him 20 years ago after my then-​husband had a tooth abscess on a Friday afternoon. Our regular dentist then wouldn’t see him, and he called every dentist in the phone book. Dr. Yee stayed after hours to take care of him. He was so good that we switched over to him, and brought all of our friends from med school too. He was able to diagnose a micro-​cavity that resulted in tooth discoloration that other dentists couldn’t catch. I stopped seeing him after I left SF, but still refer friends and family to him.

Dr. Yee is fantastic. My husband, children, and I all have been seeing him for several years. He is good with kids and always makes me feel comfortable and well-​cared for. He listens to my concerns and questions and gives me answers I can understand. He has the latest technology (low-​radiation x-​rays, etc.) and the office is super clean and professional and very peaceful. Parking is pretty easy in the neighborhood. Also, his dental assistant Elana is amazing – so gentle. Oh, and one thing I love – Dr. Yee always makes sure you are completely numb before starting a painful procedure.

Dr. David Yee and his staff are amazing. I have been going to Dr. Yee for over 20 years. He is thorough, patient, timely, and honest. He also gives back to the community as he has donated his time and talents by serving on multiple medical mission trips to the developing world. When I moved back to New York for a number of years, I would schedule my yearly dental check ups and cleanings when I was vacationing in the Bay Area. Yes, he is that good!

I believe Dr Yee to be very thorough and professional. He took the time to explain everything, unsolicited, and answered all my questions. I felt comfortable asking him to send all my x-​rays with his recommendations to my childhood dentist across the country. He was more than willing, even encouraged it.
He was very thorough and explained what he was doing and laid out all my options for me during the procedures as well.

I started coming to Dr. Yee 20 years ago when my then current dentist closed her practice and recommended I go see Dr. Yee. He’s taken care of my family ever since. My daughter had very complex orthodontia and Dr. Yee worked very closely with Dr. Rodney Lee and Dr. Michael Chan (5 stars for all) to pull her sideways teeth into alignment. It was a procedure another dentist said couldn’t be done, but we trusted Dr. Yee and he explained everything and sent us to people who knew what to do.
Dr. Yee is old school in the sense that he oversees all the work, visits the lab himself and creates some of the devices. He is not outsourcing to a place where he can’t control the quality. Here’s why that’s good.
My mother-​in-​law moved to San Francisco about eight years ago. She had always had fine dental care in San Jose (IBM corporate benefits in the days when that mattered) but her dentures always gave her trouble. She assumed it was an unfixable problem from her youth. She came to Dr. Yee at age 75 and he started to work. She says that she had never had pain-​free teeth or dentures in her adult life until she met Dr. Yee. Now, in her eighties, she wouldn’t go anywhere else. I credit her experience to the way Dr. Yee does dentistry — carefully and thoroughly.
We wouldn’t go anywhere else either. In many ways, your dentist is your primary physician. We see him twice a year and always for an extended period. Dr. Yee has been able to point us toward other types of helpful care that our physicians don’t consider. He doesn’t give advice outside his specialty, but he treats you as his patient not his revenue opportunity. If you need to see a doctor for that jaw pain, he sends you there rather than trying to do something he shouldn’t. His staff is excellent, friendly and very helpful. Emily has handled our confusing schedules and dental plans (we have finally just said no to dental insurance) well.

I was one of Dr Yee’s original patients who fixed an absess on my gum when my family was leaving that same night to vacation in Mexico. It was aleady 6pm by the time my absess finally erupted and my daddy was going through the phone book calling dentists to see if they could take me. The absess arrived 2 weeks earlier and I was a kid so I wanted to see what would happen so I left it and didn’t tell my parents. Dr Yee took me in as a new patient and stayed after closing. Dr Yee always explains what is going on with your teeth and how to take care of them.
My uncle’s brother is also a dentist and he almost pulled the wrong adult teeth in preparation for braces. OMG. so we continued going to Dr Yee.
Fortunately something changed and while I was told that I probably had a genetic disposition to cavitities (I had over 5 fillings in my adult teeth as a child.) My teeth have not had more cavitities in my adult life. Its kind of interesting. Emily the office manager who I knew from Dr Yosh’s office for orodontics is great to talk to as well. And the dental hygenist is very kind and we talked about how she enjoys her career, she talked about her studies at UCSF.

I’ve been going to Dr. Yee for 25 years, and now my entire family does as well. He’s super-​nice, punctual, professional, caring, and extremely skillful. All my work has been done expertly and painlessly by him. He always takes the time to explain my condition and offer helpful advice about maintaining good dental health. I’ve recommended him to at least half-​a-​dozen friends over the years and they’ve all thanked me for the referral.

Been going to Dr. Yee for a long time. Great professional service. Great staff. One dentist that doesn’t hurt. .. really! (OK, just a little but you know what I mean). I love the office environment and the receptionist Emily is especially cool. Great folks there. Thanks!

A former colleague referred me to Dr. Yee when I switched insurance plans. This was 10 years ago. The whole team is great — Emily, the receptionist — friendly, professional, and always flexible if you need to move your appointments around. Dr. Yee — gives you information that you need and heads up on things to watch out for. Very nice and when he cleans your teeth, it doesn’t hurt. Elana — my favorite dental hygenist ever, seriously, I go to the denist 3 times a year because I’m obsessed with making sure my teeth look nice. She’s introduced me to new tools for cleaning my teeth, is super thorough when she cleans them, I always feel like my teeth are brand new after my appointments. Very gentle, her and I can chat for days, super friendly.
The other thing about their office is the japanese garden and nice new upgraded chairs (a treat to Dr. Yee and his patients — not that the old ones were bad, but they are fancy) makes the whole experience very zen.
Seriously, Dr. Yee and his team are so great, knowledgable, skilled with their gentle cleaning that I’ve already referred 3 co-​workers and 2 relatives. :)

Have been visiting Dr. Yee for over 25 years. He has been our family dentist and our grown daughters still come to see him though they have moved out of San Francisco; other dentists they tried don’t compare. Dr. Yee is thorough, conscientious, keeps up-​to-​date and very gentle. He is always caring: lets elementary school kids «tour» the office, and has a special nook for children to play in. The whole facility is clean and pleasant. Highly recommended.

Dr. David Yee is an incredible dentist — because he and his staff are courtesy, his office is a pleasure for my family and I to visit for both cleanings and dental work.
