Dr. Chang is a Board Certified plastic surgeon who specializes in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and body. Dr. Chang performs the latest in breast reconstruction techniques, including the DIEP flap, and reconstruction with the latest silicone gel implants. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

History

Established in 2009.

Dr. David S. Chang has been practicing medicine in San Francisco since 1997. He trained in both general surgery and plastic surgery at UCSF. Upon completion of his training, he worked on the full time faculty at UCSF, teaching plastic surgery to medical students and residents. In 2009 he went into private practice. With Dr. Gabriel Kind, he formed Kind Chang Plastic Surgery.

He completed residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He is Board Certified in plastic surgery and performs both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery in his private practice in San Francisco.

Dr. Chang was professional and easy to work with, and my results are fabulous. Scheduling appointments is very easy because his staff is responsive and courteous, and his schedule is flexible enough to offer many convenient choices for appointment times. He did not pressure or judge, presented a wide range of options and allowed me to make my own choices. He has also been very responsive to follow up questions and offered his time for multiple follow up appointments without charge, just to make sure I was doing OK. The results are great and I am very happy.

The only place I go for Botox. Dr. Chang does the Botox himself and is meticulous.
I also highly recommend Dr. Chang for breast surgery, whether it is reconstructive or cosmetic. Dr. Chang is highly skilled, experienced and very nice.

I highly recommend Dr. Chang! I decided to have prophylactic mastectomies due to my increased risk for breast cancer and Dr. Bailey my wonderful breast surgeon recommended Dr. Chang. From the start I felt like I was in great hands with these two surgeons. Dr. Chang and his wonderful assistant Candice were always kind, professional, and thorough. I am extremely pleased with the results! I am back to all of my regular activities with no pain or discomfort, I am very happy with how everything looks, and most important of all is the peace of mind that I have done something to greatly reduced my chances of getting breast cancer!

Dr. Chang is a true Artist! People may say I’m a bit biased because I have had the privilege to personally see his work post operatively because I am an RN. I was contemplating breast reduction surgery for many years and have had other consults with plastic surgeons, but never could get my insurance to help with the costs and/​or just didn’t feel comfortable with the MD. Somehow his staff was magical and got the bulk of it covered! I wish I saw him years earlier, but I am so happy with the results! Perfectly symmetrical, hardly any pain, barely noticeable scars. He and Candice, his NP (truly amazing in her own right, super gentle with suture removal too) were really patient with my multitude of questions, not to mention the rest of the Staff (thank you, Suzy)! I could not have picked a better surgeon, very low infection rate too. I recommend him highly to everyone I know.

As promised by Lisa Bailey (Bay Area leader of breast healthcare), Dr. Chang is a perfectionist who you want on your team for reconstructive surgery. He and his assistant Candice were the most punctual providers I’ve ever dealt with (working out of Bailey’s Oakland office). The whole process is inevitably awkward and uncomfortable, but Dr. Chang gives you the confidence that you are getting the best possible guidance and care.

I’ve gone to Dr. Chang for several procedures and in every instance, I’ve been thrilled and amazed with the results.
Unlike most Plastic Surgeons, Dr Chang is also a General Surgeon, which makes him prepared to handle any situation that might arise in an operating room. First of all, he has outstanding credentials. Dr Chang is Board Certified and graduated with honors from Dartmouth College. He received his medical degree from New York University and received his General Surgery and Plastic Surgery training at UCSF. As a result, he was recruited to join the faculty there. Dr. Chang has published articles and written textbook chapters on plastic surgery.
My experience of Dr. Chang is that he is an aesthetic perfectionist, who is extremely skilled and dedicated to his patients’ satisfaction and well being. In addition to his technical expertise, he is also kind, caring, responsive, realistic and completely patient focused.
Other health professionals (Internist, Dermatologist, Nurse) who have seen my stitches have been awed by the perfection of Dr. Chang’s handiwork — particularly stitches which aid in healing and reduce scaring. I have had other physicians say that Dr. Chang is the only Plastic Surgeon that they would choose for themselves.
Anyone who is interested in a top notch Plastic Surgeon, who delivers beautiful life changing work, should have Dr. Chang at the top of their list!
