David L Curtis, MD

Dr. Curtis is not interested in me as a person, nor my specific symptoms. He did not believe the reaction I had to a medication he prescribed was due to the meds, was probably a ‘coincidence’, when everything I read online said that side-​effect was absolutely a reaction to the meds. He said «oh, you can find anything online».
In 3 visits, he did not look at my feet, which I had told him numerous times really bothered me, just assumed those pains were the same as in my hands.
He did order tests and did diagnose me, and I assume the diagnosis is accurate. But I’m going to go to a podiatrist to confirm, at least for my feet.
This is not the best doctor to see if you want someone to be caring and concerned.

I had been on disability for joint pain for quite awhile when I first came to Dr. Curtis, I was referred to him by someone who was also seeing him for an autoimmune problem.
While seeing Dr. Curtis for achy joint pain, I also saw a Myofascial Doctor, because I was also having neck, and jaw pain due to a Myofascial Disorder. After weeks of seeing my Myofacial Doctor, and doing Bio-​feedback, he said, «I believe you have Fibromyalgia.» I was elated, because finally I knew why I was achy all the time, and I couldn’t wait to tell Dr. Curtis! When my Doctor appointment with Dr. Curtis finally arrived I told him about the diagnoses that was told to me by my the Myofascial Doctor. Dr. Curtis immediately told me that he didn’t believe in the diagnoses, and that it was Mumbo Jumbo, & basically make believe stuff?!
I never returned to Dr. Curtis, I also didn’t like the fact that he repeated off the record small talk that I had divulged with him to the disability folks that keep track of my health progress… That was Very Uncool, imvho.

I had been struggling for some time.
I was having trouble walking and I knew there was something wrong with my body.
After months of pain and appointments with Podiatrists and Doctors that were telling me it was Plantar fasciitis Id had enough.
I asked the POdiatrist if it could have been arthritis because I had the same pain in my hands. I knew my body was telling me there was something wrong. I went back to my Primary for answers.
I was finally diagnosed with RA.
Dr Curtis was highly recommended by her.
He didnt even need to do a blood test to tell he just took a look at my swollen feet and could see it.
When I explained the symptoms I finally felt like someone was listening to me and within 2 days of being on medication I was walking again.
I was diagnosed at 30. Ive been seeing Dr Curtis now for 6 years and I find him to be sincere and to genuinely care. He comes in to every infusion to check on his patients and ask questions, and to see how Im doing not only physically but how we are doing emotionally and what Im doing with myself. I love to travel and has often given me names of people or places to look up on my travels.
3 years ago my father had passed away unexpectedly the night before an infusion. Dr Curtis has a very fatherly kind of presence to me so for him to come in and ask me that day how had i been, let the flood gates open. He was very kind and what made it more sincere was that he took the time to write me a card and send it to my home.
I also like the fact that if I need to talk to him over the phone about a prescription or a worry that I may he is reachable.
Ive also referred other people to him and know they have had similar experiences. He likewise has referred me to other surgeons who have been just as great as him.
I actually enjoy Infusion day sometimes. Lita is amazing. Shes the nurse that takes care of us, so caring and interested in the people that come in to get Infusion.
Im so glad that I was referred to Dr Curtis :)

I really like Dr. Curtis. He actually listened to my questions and came up with understandable reasonable possibilities that could be causing a long time skin irritation that has been diagnosed as scabies (think bed bugs) to a fungus to a plain old heat rash. He has a great manner and takes the time to listen to your concerns.
There are two reasons behind the three star score.
First, I don’t believe the office staff is the best possible staff. I have been on hold with his office for 20 minutes now. It’s like this every time I call. They put you on hold and leave you hanging. I try to understand that they are a busy office and not only are they dealing with patients in the office but also transcription duties and insurance issues. But 23 minutes for a simple record release request is NUTS!!! This makes me worry that the request will not be finished today.
Second is the Dr Curtis himself tends to over test and medicate. This can be a good and or bad thing. You want your doctor to be through but I don’t have a lot of money here. Even though I didn’t have any blood indicators for lupus he ordered a chest X-​ray. The X-​ray was not as expensive as I thought but it bugged me he opined while looking at the film the that he «knew that it would be clear». As for over medicating, he prescribed antihistamine for the rash even though we know from three rounds of allergy testing that I’m not allergic to anything. Meanwhile, the medication doesn’t prevent any of the itch and every time I pick it up from the pharmacy they tell me how it’s bad for my liver.
BTW, after 25 minutes I hung up and called back. They put me on hold again, this time for only 9 minutes. I do have to say that Rosie was very nice, thanked me for my patience, and apologized. Score 1 for Rosie. Not giving them another star for it but Rosie needs to be thanked.

I went to see Dr. Curtis after spending 7 years dealing with an auto-​immune disease that was not precisely diagnosed. He took the time to listen to my entire history and has made suggestions for how I can determine what type of problem I am suffering from since my blood work could mean more than one thing. I have seen other doctors and specialists but found Dr. Curtis to be the most detailed in his approach and knowledge. I am hopeful that I will have my precise diagnosis soon.
