Specialties

I give lessons in music composition, piano, theory, improvisation, and world music. I’m a well established composer and concert pianist, and I teach many styles. The key to my teaching style is both adaptability to students’ interests and level, and Insight Methods which open up the creative wisdom of the individual.

History

Established in 1990.

I have been teaching workshops in composition, theory, orchestration, and form in piano literature since 1990. I also teach individual students, many of whom are professional musicians such as: Kepa Junkera, Ilyas Ilya, and Lawrence Wayte.

D’Arcy R.

Business Owner

D’Arcy Reynolds is an award-​winning composer in based in Marin County, California. Numerous ensembles, including the San Jose Chamber Orchestra, Ariel String Quartet, Chamberlain String Quartet, Adesso, and New Music Works have performed her chamber music. Her work has been represented at several new music festivals, including the Festival of New American Music at California State University at Sacramento.

Ms. Reynolds toured South Africa with the Sontonga Quartet in 2005 on a Meet the Composer global Connections grant, and was featured in the DVD ‘Inner Landscape’ filmed in South Africa. She has received commissions from the American Composers Forum, Noe Valley Chamber Music and Tessa Brinckman and has received grants and awards from the ASCAP, USIA, the American Music Center, and Meet the Composer.

She founded the American Composers Forum San Francisco Chapter in 1997.

Reynolds earned a B.A. in piano perf, M.A. in musical composition from Mills College.
