Cunningham Design

I’m so pleased to have found Scott and his design firm. I discovered his website which demonstrated a strong ability to work with most any aesthetic and design sense. He’s now assisting me with a kitchen remodel in addition to a dining room/​living room makeover. Scott is personable, professional, and talented with a great sense of humor. He’s very easy to work with. As others have mentioned, Scott respects your vision while at the same time gently guides you in the right direction with his expertise. I tend to have very high expectations of anyone I work with and I couldn’t be more impressed by Scott and his approach. Did I mention my dogs love him?

It was the first time that I tried this based on good reviews on Unilocal.At first I was not sure if Scott would be willing to do small and budget-​concerned project. It turned out that our meeting worked perfect for me. Scott was able to provide me with a lot of good insights and expert advices, to the point and efficient. He is professional, friendly, and a true talent. With his guidance, I know better now what I should be doing next in order to improve my small condo.

We recently bought a little house built in 1922 with an original tiny kitchen that desperately needed a remodel, but that couldn’t be expanded. We also needed a powder room tucked into the tiny space. And, of course, we were on a very defined budget. A contractor, that we ultimately didn’t work with, suggested Scott as a design consultant. Wow. Was that the best suggestion ever. If you read all of the reviews about Scott’s talent, I could repeat them here — they are all spot on. But, instead, I will add one component that no one has mentioned.
We needed a permit drawing for the powder room since it was going to be new construction. After consulting with a couple of architects on price and timing, I asked Scott what he thought. It turned out that Scott had access to a reasonably priced drafts person that he could work with to create the drawings. It saved us a couple thousand dollars and a couple weeks of waiting by having Scott produce the work.
Never having worked with a designer before, I was unsure of what to expect. I really and truly appreciate having Scott fill that role. He is wonderful!

I worked with Scott on a very budget-​conscious redesign of our living room. He was very flexible in working with me. He presented great, workable ideas and was timely too. At the beginning of the project I had very definite ideas of what I didn’t want, and Scott was great at helping to articulate what I did want. His guidance is very gentle, yet he’s clear on what won’t look good. When our room was complete, we received a lot of compliments. Many people said the room felt so much bigger than before. And during our weekend of Thanksgiving festivities and entertaining, it felt sooo good to have a nice, defined space to talk with guests. Such a change from how it used to be! Overall the rooms feels cozy and useful– just like I wanted it. I highly recommend Scott. He’s very skilled and has a great sense of humor that makes the process fun and easy.

My wife and I worked with Scott for guidance on color selection and material consulting during the remodel of a very central kitchen, and new floors and paint throughout the first floor of our home. We were completely overwhelmed with the possibilities for paint color, floor stain, cabinet, countertop and tile choices, but Scott came in and listened to what our style and tastes were and gave us an easy path to getting everything selected correctly the first time.
We are extremely happy with the end results and get regular compliments from all guests about the colors and finishes. Scott was a pleasure to work with and we would recommend him to anybody.

I am a contractor and recently remodeled my own residence.
I attempted to design all of the color, and hard surfaces for this project, but quickly realized that I did not have the expertise to pull it off. As a contractor I know the importance of getting it right the first time.
I have known Scott for some time and I have seen some of the work that he has completed. He has also worked with several of my clients. I was impressed with his work on my clients homes and I enjoyed working with him.
He spoke of a «finishes profile» a complete specification list of all the hard surfaces such as paint color, tile, flooring, counter tops etc. Just what I was looking for.
Wow did Scott make a difference to me.
He was professional, talented, asked lots of questions to figure out my vision, was always on time and made the process seem easy. He is funny and kept the process light and interesting.
He knows the products on the market and has a handle on durability and function. He didn’t choose pretty finishes that would not perform.
We met several times throughout the process with updates and Scott was always happy to make changes as I felt necessary.
Most importantly, my project is a stunner! I love that all the finishes relate to each other and the outcome is a home that is interesting, classic and flows from room to room
Who would have thought, a great designer without a huge ego.

It was our great fortune to contract Cunningham Designs for a very unique project refurbishing rooms in a 100-​year-​old Castle in Pacifica, CA. The project is extremely idiosyncratic and presents many challenges, the least of those to conserve the eccentricities of the late Mr. Sam Mazza, donor to the foundation that carries his name. Scott Cunningham sensed the importance of balancing legacy with high-​spirited imagination and beauty, with magnificent results.
Called into an ongoing project with an impossible deadline, Cunningham Designs demonstrated precision project management and finished not only on time but also within budget. The design work completed to date has far exceeded our expectations and has awed the many visitors to the elegant newly-​designed rooms that are part of public tours, receiving rave reviews.

We recently bought a house that needed some love and hired Aaron Gordon Construction as our contractor. Aaron arranged for Scott Cunningham to be our designer and we are beyond glad that he found him! Scott has an amazing eye and helped us realize our dream house, spending thorough time with us to go over *all* of the details associated with it.
What we like best about Scott is his laid-​back personality. He is very good at articulating his opinions without being insulting but doesn’t hesitate to let you know when things aren’t working. I think that art of tact is something that not a lot of designers have. It was a pleasure working with Scott and my wife and I highly recommend him for your design needs!

I hired Scott Cunningham to help me with my new flat in San Francisco 2.5 years ago even though I had some Interior Design and color experience. He helped me pick wall colors and select existing furniture based on colors I had always wanted to make my home look luxurious yet comfortable and he not only helped me bring my theme to reality but he also helped make it more unique. With his expedience, yet patience with me, and by hiring the best green painters he recommended, we were able to bring the ideal canvas (my walls) together before moving a single item into my home.
