This establishment is inconsistent. It’s always a little bit sloppy in here… the machines aren’t always working so you may or may not get your favorite flavor. Anyway, the yogurt isn’t bad, but the toppings are sometimes picked over and lacking…

since tuttimelon closed down I’ve been trying to find another frozen yogurt place besides PinkBerry which is all the way in downtown and its good. The original flavor here is too sour. All of the other flavors were not good. And way too pricey! $.62 per oz… crazy! I found one in Sunset that has way better flavors and its $.58 per oz!

Great location, the inside is OK, not the cutest, could do with some updating and a deep clean.
As for the favors, nothing super spectacular, the peanut butter was good but there wasn’t any cake batter or different flavors.

Hello white girl dessert! While the flavors here are not very adventurous or decadent, they do have hot fudge. Like actual hot fudge. And that’s honest what I crave the most as a topping. I was also into the sort of cave of cookie dough you could scrap your own pieces from as opposed to the usual dry balls of cookie dough found at most places. Good experience overall!

Really good froyo. Went here when Fraiche ran out of tart — third time it’s happened.

With tutti melon closed, we were forced to venture out of our comfort zone to find some Wednesday night fro-​yo. Cultive mended our wound that tutti melon left! Not only do they have great rotating flavors of fro-​yo (even dairy-​free which I get), but they surpass tutti melon in both price and amount of toppings. Highly recommended!
Two words of caution:
1) be sure to turn the dispensers SLOWLY. Even though there were three signs warning about that, I still turned it normal and got about 3 pounds of Reese’s pieces.
2) beware of how close bar none is. Don’t get sucked into the Mecca of fratty/​tinder hell.

Artificial taste of yogurt, the tart one is always icy. If you look at their ingredients lists, tons of «bad stuff» (corn syrup, different forms of sugar, etc.), and one more thing, if you come on Monday or Tuesday, the man always charged you tax even if you order to go, so try to come at different day if you want better customer service!

The froyo here is consistently creamy (none of that icy crap)! I loved all the tart varieties, and the tart original is actually TART/​borderline sour, but that’s a good thing :)
Hands-​down faves were the Apple Tart and Mint. Both were super refreshing and not *overly* sweet. The Coffee flavor is good as well, though that’s a bit creamier and more ice cream-​esque that froyo, in my opinion.
Definitely recommend.

i stopped into cultive for frozen yogurt with my friends after dinner, and this ended up being an excellent treat. i loved that we could have samples of the flavors before deciding since there were about 9 or 10 to choose from. since it was self-​service, it was also possible to mix and match the flavors and many toppings. many of the yogurts were either fat-​free or no-​sugar-​added, which was a nice way to make the dessert (a little bit) healthier.
i chose a combination of mint, vanilla, and chocolate. it was very hard to tell that some were no-​fat or no-​sugar-​added, and the texture was creamy and smooth. i also found that for all the flavors i sampled, the flavor definitely came through.
i added sprinkles, fruits, lychee, and some little popping bubble things that i have no idea what they were, but they added a very cool texture.
the yogurt was sold by weight and i was slighty terrified that i had over-​filled upon arriving at the register, but was very glad to see that it was only around $ 4.

Scene: Mid-​week around 6:30 p.m. in an empty shop. Two employees discuss an interesting topic, while the customer approaches the self-​serve yogurt machines. One employee says hello.
The customer tries the Original Tart (just the right amount of tartness), Lemon Tart (faintly lemon) and Dutch Chocolate (good). Free samples! The great toppings are self-​serve. It’s difficult to stop the toppings when turning the knobs of their containers, so be careful.
During the next 20 minutes, customers enter, try flavors and buy yogurt. Regular customers request favorite flavors which are missing. For newbies, don’t miss the sign which offers 20% off from 5 – 7 pm daily with a Clipper card or MUNI transfer.
All in all, the yogurt tastes good. The toppings are great. I will return.

Tart is the best there and the best I’ve had in a while.
I got there around 11am, walking with my friend and we stumbled upon this cute shop. Walked in and so happy that they don’t restrict you on the sample cups. I tried most of the flavors, watermelon, tart orig, chocolate, and i would say chocolate and tart are my favorites. My first thing I go for is the HOT FUDGE. something about hot fudge + chocolate yogurt makes it all the badness on my «fat free» froyo. haha, its sooo good! Anyways, they had hot fudge there a plus for me!
The tart was enough tartness, and it didn’t melt after 10 minutes of walking around! Also, this place is organic, so at least i have that peace of mind.
I would recommend this place again and hope to see another one open up in the south bay one day!

Half the flavors were just horrible. I think Icebee is better even tho their’s can be watered down on certain days. The only flavor I liked was the praline because it was no sugar added and nonfat. I do like the condiments, but you have to turn slowly because you end up getting a shit load of nuts. The price is like any other yogurt place. I definitely had better, but this place will suffice my sweet tooth for now.

This is one of those yogurt places that has big cups and lets you get your own. There have a bunch of different flavors and toppings to pick from and you can take as much or as little as you want. At the end you pay entirely by how much your cups weighs. Be careful don’t put too much in because the price can get to be really expensive. They only have huge cups.
I also like that they have a variety of different kinds of yogurt regular. Greek, tart (also flavored tart), and sherbet.
The four flavors I picked were pretty good. They certainly have a lot of fruit flavors, I think having more non-​fruit flavors would be a good idea.

This used to be my favorite fro yo place and was walking distance from my apartment.
Now the flavors are just too sugary sweet and Yogorino has replaced my sweet tooth cravins. Also, its more expensive than most fro yo places!

I can’t say I’ve ever been impressed by a self-​serve froyo place. This one is as good as your typical place, but none of the yogurt seems very rich and the flavors aren’t that well done. Red Mango beats this anyday, and I still think Fraiche is the best.
I will say that the place is clean and welcoming, so not a bad spot to take a froyo break.

I’m partial to yogurtland but since I live in the marina, cultive is my go-​to for froyo! And I must admit, they do have a better selection of toppings!
Price is a tad higher than I’m used to at yogurt land, so I don’t go too crazy. They usually have a good selection of flavor and you should try them all before filling up your cup! If you are a marina local you should get a punch card, and there will often be a coupon on your Safeway receipt for 20% off.

Even with their broad non-​tart selection, this one strikes me as a bit healthier than the other froyo chains, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s any tastier. Truth be told, I prefer the creamier indulgence to be found at Yoppi Yogurt or Yogen Fruz, but I would put Cultive in the «OK» category. I think part of my impressive has to do with its unfortunate name. Cultive. Sounds like it was made by the Branch Davidian group or maybe just the NRA. That probably make it a perfect candidate for Union Street, a neighborhood that always struck me as more Stepford-​like than others in the city.
At 43-​cents per ounce, the prices are competitive here. I must have been swept up by the health fervor and chose Original Tart as my flavor of choice. I spooned some fresh blueberries on top, and it was refreshing (see photo). It just wasn’t a terribly satisfying ender after having a juicy bison burger over at Roam. There wasn’t much seating in the place despite the fact that it’s relatively spacious. I have to say the one staff person looked quite bored sitting at the register, and perhaps that also contributes to the sense of ennui in my review.
FROYO — 3 stars… refreshing but somehow lacking in full flavor
AMBIANCE — 2.5 stars… clean and spacious but where do I sit?
SERVICE — 2 stars… did she move?
TOTAL — 3 stars… if you need froyo strolling on Union

This is my third time here, its always been alright. But tonight I went and I was extremely disapointed. It wasn’t even a busy night, but people were crowded around the toppings, and it was hard to see what they had. They need to spread it out more. My second complaint is that they were lacking in toppings and flavors. All I wanted was some mint, and there was none to be found.
Cultive is an ok place, but I would prefer Pinkberry.
BTW: Why do they still have the grand opening sign up when they have been open forever.

Froyo: 4 stars!
Although I only liked the Green Apple tart and Strawberry tart out of all the flavors sampled, these 2 tarts were very tasty! Different from the usual tart flavors. And with sweetness that reminded me of the fruity Mentos. It could’ve been more tart. But still very enjoyable!
Loved the flavored mochi too!
Price: –1 star!
