Craftsman and Wolves is a contemporary patisserie offering a menu of high-end pastries, cakes, confections, confitures, desserts, as well as gourmet sandwiches, salads and savory fare throughout the day, seven days a week. Since opening, the patisserie has garnered national praise in publications including Wall Street Journal, Real Simple, Esquire, and Bön Appétit, and GQ magazine named his famous «Rebel Within» as #6 on «The 50 Best Things to Eat and Drink Right Now.» The beverage menu includes Oakland’s Highwire Coffee, a selection of housemade sweet drinks including hot chocolate and drinking caramel, as well as seasonal tisanes, high-quality Taiwanese oolong tea from Naivetea, beer and wine.
History
Established in 2012.
Chef William Werner partnered with Lawrence Lai and Ann Lee of Naivetea to open Craftsman and Wolves in the summer of 2012.

Over the past decade, William Werner has honed an impressive mastery of pastry techniques and developed a distinct style. Named San Francisco Magazine’s «2014 Best Pastry Chef,» Plate Magazine’s «2014 30 Chefs to Watch,» Star Chefs’ «2013 Rising Star Artisan,» and a James Beard Foundation «Outstanding Pastry Chef» nominee, Werner also serves as a Valrhona Pastry Chef Consultant, leading professional culinary demonstrations and classes in the US and Canada.
