Collector’s Cave

This shop is super cute. There are plenty of awesome merchandise and didn’t feel over crowded with options. It was clean, well lit, and spacious for a comic book shop. I am definitely a fan. The employee was also super friendly and let us browse leisurely.

Smaller, privately owned (this is good) store with choice toys, a good selection, excellent prices, and great, friendly owner. An excellent walk down memory lane.

Very cute little shop with a good variety of Marvel figures, Lego sets, Barbies, comics and other little toys. Very reasonable prices too!

I always like to be fair, so we went by this store again last week and the experience was much much better and we feel like we got some really good customer attention this time. Instead of the gentleman we encountered before, there was a woman behind the counter this time and she was great. She answered all our questions and actually showed some interest in what she was doing. We found some great Batman comics (they have a bunch of them) and she was exceptional. Maybe the owner read my previous review and decided to step up the customer service, but maybe I’m dreaming.

Ehh decent store with comics, toys and baseball cards. Prices are a bit on the high side though. They do have a nice selection of many items. The owner is nice and can provide help.

I found this small but well stocked shop in yet another attempt to quench my periodic thirst for new baseball cards. I’m never disappointed as there is an excellent selection of new packs, individual star cards and cards sorted by team. Friends, if you need a gift for the Giants fan in your life, you’re in luck here. You can leaf through the Giants box and pick out lots of winners. The store carries inexpensive plastic boxes that make storage easy and keeps the cards from getting damaged. Looking to fill space in a Christmas stocking? This is an idea to consider and the store to do it.

This shop has a terrific selection of toys for children of all ages, as they used to say under the big top. The toys for this era’s children are at their eye level. One of the joys of being a bachelor without children is the pleasure of spoiling as many of them as I can. I love and support shops where I get more bang for my buck, and that is the case at Collector’s Cave. Not only do I support a locally owned business, but I can also find a cool toy that a youngster can play with for years.
Collector’s Cave also carries toys from when we were children. Old toys are in great demand with collectors, so the selection varies, but the condition is always excellent and the price is fair. Seeing them here brings back fond memories of my Remco Tank and my little sister’s Mr. Machine.
You comic book fans, whether you crave them old or new, will also find a home here. My friend Eric has really enjoyed the old Daffy Duck comics I’ve found here. I, in turn, am delighted to treat this brilliant physicist and inventor to comic books.
As in most destinations San Francisco, parking is at a premium. Once inside, however, Collector’s Cave offer smooth sailing. Enjoy.

Steve is passionate about collecting. He has always wanted this store ever since he was very young. I’ve known him for 15 years and I’ve watched his collection grow and grow to the point where he no longer had a bedroom, it was all action figures, magazines, sets, you name it.
If you are looking for someone who knows his stuff, Steve’s your man. I can guarantee that he hand selected each and every piece of merchandise in his store and can give you specific information in detail about whatever you seek. If he can’t do it, nobody can.
Not only is he knowledgeable and reliable, he’s a helluva nice guy. Go check out the Collector’s Cave! You’ll be happy you did!

Opening this door is like stepping back in time to my childhood — 1970s and 1980s toys abound! There are «modern» toys to be found as well, but I was amazed to see Garbage Pail Kids, original Transformers, classic risk, and — to my partner’s amazement — Shrinky Dinks! Brilliant! I wish I had more time to pour over all of the forgotten relics from my childhood! Great place!

As I looked for a gift for my 6-​year-​old niece, I must admit that I felt a bit of nostalgia for my childhood past. Barrel of Monkeys, Lite Bright, Barbie and Connect Four to name a few. They also have a large selection of Lego sets. By the way for you old school Lego fans, Lego is now selling a very large set (500 pieces I think) of just the assorted size bricks in a variety of shapes and colors. You can make what you want from scratch; really get the creative juices flowing. I had to refrain from purchasing one for myself… For those of you that like to collect things, they sell vintage comic books and sports playing cards in mint condition.
From Barbie to life like talking president dolls, this place has it all.
The owner has great taste in toys and collectibles and the prices are reasonable. Even if you don’t need to buy a gift for someone, you should go there and buy something for yourself!

Phenomenal find! We were visiting SF and tooling around on Union Street in search of a gift for a friends 3 year old son. Imagine our happiness when we ventured across this place. They had an amazing array of toys for such a small shop … and not the crazy stuff that’s coming out now but stuff from when we were kids!

The store appeals to adults and kids alike as long as you like toys, comics or cards. What I really like about this store is that they carry new and vintage collectible toys, comics, and trading cards (sports, TV, etc.). I bought some vintage Planet of the Apes cards here and they had some of the old POTA dolls too. They had vintage and new GI Joe dolls, not that I like those. You never know what you might find here, like vintage Star Wars toys or even the 6 Million Dollar Man, Pee Wee’s Playhouse cards, 90 210 cards, along with new Simpsons figurines.

Whether Captain America is dead or alive, Matt still hearts the fictional Marvel Comic superhero.
Matt bought Captain A’s Plush dolls for $ 12.50. Also, the hobby store, which carries primarily action-​figures, has a figurine of Matt’s second love. Matt also bought a 1:12 scale metal statue is hand crafted and painted with the extreme details. For $ 60.00, the statue is ready for combat and also looks great on Matt’s mantel.
You can easily tell that Matt misses his fallen partner in crime.

I passed by on monday during normal hours, but the place was closed at 2:00pm. They didn’t pick up their newspaper, which means they might not have come in at all…
anyway, i wasted gas to check them out, but i should have called. anyway, i hope to go back, but for now… 1 STAR

What the hell is going on with Legos? Admittedly it’s been a while since I was in the market for a Lego set, but I remember them being ridiculously, independently cool. Medieval castles and pirates and whatnot. Big sets full of little pieces with detailed instructions, and at the end of it you got a little plastic fantasy land. Now it’s all product placement and joint venture… Harry Potter and Star Wars Lego sets. That takes all the fun out of it! You’re supposed to be able to play make-​believe with the Legos; to make your own story! It takes all the mental enrichment out of the toy if you link it up with some pre-​existing story that’s so fucking ubiquitous it’s in their fucking Happy Meals. That’s the problem with kids today. No fucking imagination.
Anyway, their selection of Legos is not what I’d hoped. And it irritates me that they have Giants Monopoly but not San Francisco Monopoly. I mean, how do you make Monopoly fit a professional sports team? I’m so over branding, man.

You gotta love a comic store on Union Street, plus they have plenty of action figures, both new and collectibles.
