I have moved a lot. My job and unending sense of wonder stokes an addiction to change. I have some friends who have been around for awhile – and Facebook has helped. But, my life has shifted and morphed often over the years. Many have come and gone. But there is one relationship that stands the test of that change and of time. It is my hair stylist, Clyde Higuchi. I first began seeing Clyde in the late 90s. We were truly both kids. I wanted a short, sassy Linda Evangelista do a la NYC. He was working then at Architects and Heros in SF. If you been in SF long, you might ponder our fashion choices. We have not always say, been the city to turn to for our street looks. Oh sure, if you want creativity, you can get a good dose of Burning Man fashion or some awesome hippie inspiration. But true couture? Well, maybe if you go into Niemans where they HAVE to dress the part. So, I was having a tough time finding NYC in SF. Until I met Clyde. Humble, chic, full of class and over-brimming with a super model celeb list that as a 27 or 28 years old urban aspirational, knocked my socks off, Clyde was it. And I never looked back. From SF to LA to NYC, I have stuck with Clyde.(To make it easy, we always somehow ended up living in the same place at the same time — I think Clyde has the same wanderlust as I do!) He has been at amazing places like Oribe in NYC, Prive in LA, and now he is with Alex Chases in SF. And, I have followed him to each and every one. I secretly keep hoping he will join my colorist, Jerome Molles, at Studio 323 in SF. But, I am happy to go to two great salons to get my desired look. Over the years, we have styled often! His specialty is medium and long layers that move and have shape that fits your face. So, Clyde convinced me to go long. I had been wearing short bobs for as long as I could remember. He inspired me into longer, luscious, sexy locks that are timeless and less severe for my face and as I aged. I love the sexiness, the flexibility and the versatility he creates in his styles. Now, I’m in my mid 40s and I long for cuts that keep me fresh and fashionable without looking like a trying too hard OR verging into the«mom» look. Clyde has stayed consistent all the way through. His cuts are easy to manage once you are back home. They style easily and hold their shape. They are yummy, soft and sultry. And as I age gracefully into my 50s, I know he will keep me more Jen Aniston and Angie than well, someone’s mom.
