I was having debilitating stiffness and pain in my neck so I made a same day appointment at City Pulse with Danielle. Lucky me. Danielle a consummate pro who takes a full account of your medical history before recommending any treatments. After two comprehensive treatments that included needles and cupping I felt like a new man. I’ll definitely be back whenever my finicky neck and back act up.

I cannot recommend Rachel at City Pulse more highly. I’ve been seeing her weekly for about 9 months now and this is why she gets a 5 from me:
— Effective and Experienced — Rachel is board certified when most acupuncturists aren’t, super informed about areas of western medicine and how they might interact with acupuncture and herbs, and it’s clear she has a wealth of experience. You know you’re with someone who knows what they’re doing and believes in staying up to date. Her technique is great too — I went from being a bit freaked out by the idea of needles to barely noticing them.
— Personalized care — She gets to know you, what’s going on in your life, and remembers and genuinely cares. I’ve come to look forward to seeing her smiling face every week. And more importantly, she is genuinely supportive, you’re not just another patient for her.
— Extremely well organized and professional — She’s always on time, I always feel like there is no other patient but me during my time, and she takes thorough notes and remembers every detail about my concerns seamlessly.
Overall, if you’re looking for someone who is clearly highly qualified and holds themselves to high standards, Rachel would be the person to go to.

For years I suffered from an aggravating, deep shoulder pain which was the result of a slipped disc brought on by multiple car accidents. The pain was accompanied by a shooting pain down my arm and into my fingertips. I had tried traditional western medications, massage, physical therapy, each would help for a short time but then the pain would return. Since going to City Pulse, and working with Danielle, the pain is all but gone and my quality of life has improved exponentially! I was new to acupuncture and she walked me through the process, explaining and answering all my questions in a very knowledgeable manner. This review for Rachel at City Pulse is way over due. I have seen her for well over a year now. She helped us conceive our first child, when were having problems and it just wasn’t happening. Within a year of Rachel’s treatments we were pregnant, naturally (no IUI or IVF) with a healthy baby boy, who is now 4 months old and thriving.

Rachel is the best of the best. I wish I had received treatments from her years ago. I am truly grateful to have found her as my Acupuncturist, in the past my Western Doctor and Specialist Doctors always treated me as a number to get me in and out of their offices which consequently they definitely overlooked/​missed my pain issues, symptoms and overall troubling ailments which I have had lived with for YEARS. When my mysterious winter rash re appeared, I thought that I might lose my mind. Since THREE different doctors and their remedies did NOTHING for me I decided to go the Acupuncture route since I had seem some benefits in the past.
Danielle cured me! She was able to see me that day (the sound of desperation in my voice maybe?) and we had a great session. I felt super comfortable, I really liked the place, the «vibe», and I liked the way Danielle was super professional, great at eastern medicine, yet modern and relatable.
I have gone back again and again even though my rash is gone, seeking treatment for other issues and for general relaxation purposes.

I had my first session and introduction to eastern medicine here today. My visit was for carpal tunnel syndrome Along with a few other irksome pains.
I have tried physical therapy, braces, and NSAIDS but they weren’t working anymore on my wrist and I’d like to avoid surgery so I decided to give acupuncture a shot. As a scientist I may be skeptical about the explanations on why the treatment is supposed to work; however, the studies I’ve seen show acupuncture is very effective for pain management with little or no drawbacks. Ultimately I don’t care how it works just that it does, especially if it means avoiding surgery. So here I was!
My guide to eastern medicine was City Pulse’s Danielle Boucher. Simply stated, She was awesome.
The office and location were very close to home for me and easily accessible via Bart or Muni. It was walking distance for me. Appointment setup was online. I was able to fill out all my forms prior to the visit. It also doesn’t hurt that they take my insurance and FSA card. The office is clean and very serene.
My session started with a review of my medical history and the condition I was being treated for. Danielle was very thorough and patient and took the time to listen and explain. A physical examination followed and then she started the treatment. She walked me through the process and answered my questions. This was my intro to eastern medicine and acupuncture outside of what I’ve read in books so I had a lot of questions. Couple that with me being a scientist and I’m a combination of eager, skeptical, and curious. Danielle was very aware of this and put me at ease.
I really could not feel the needles and she was very good at finding the tender spots that needed work. After the needles were inserted I just had to lay there. I zoned out for 20 minutes as the needles did their work restoring my Qi. It was very relaxing. Danielle then removed the needles, answered more questions, and had me try a few things before I meet her again. She was very clear that I wouldn’t feel any different for 12 to 24 hours. Perhaps it was the effects of how relaxed I was afterwards but I swear my wrist and fingers tingled less.
I’ll update on the progress of treatment as my therapy progresses.
So far I have nothing but good things to say about City Pulse and Danielle.

The facility is clean and peaceful + Danielle is a nurturing and respectful master of the needles (and cups). Felt great afterwards, will certainly be back.

This is very long over due. I went to see Rachel when I was trying to get pregnant. Needless to say, I ended up pregnant with twins. She offers really great services for very fair cost.
I would look forward to my weekly treatments because as soon as I would lie down and she worked her magic I would fall asleep. It was so soothing and relaxing. Which is exactly what you need when you are so stressed out trying to get pregnant. Although I didn’t get pregnant during my treatments I do fully believe it helped prep my body for IVF which started soon after my acupuncture treatments ended.
My body took right away and got pregnant the first try. I now have gorgeous boy/​girl twins! Thank you so much Rachel!

I highly recommend Rachel, especially for those who are seeking fertility treatment! My husband and I tried for two years to get pregnant, and I had two early miscarriages during that time. I started taking Clomid, but the doctor didn’t think it was working well for me, so I decided to take a break from meds before switching to Femara.
The month I didn’t take meds, I decided to try acupuncture @ City Pulse with Rachel. After three sessions, she took my pulse and asked me if I was planning to take a pregnancy test. It was still days before my missed period, so I hadn’t even been thinking about it, but based on how she asked the question, I decided to… and I tested positive! It turns out she could tell I was pregnant based on the pulse she felt! When the doctor tested my hcg levels, they said it was extremely high and the only explanation they could give is that it was a really strong pregnancy!
I saw her throughout my first trimester, and she helped bring me safely into the second trimester!
The other thing I have to say is that she is incredibly affordable! She has a discounted rate for those who choose to do «Community Acupuncture,» which means you’re in the same room as a few others while getting acupuncture. The intakes and the follow-​up check-​ins (which are done at every session) are done in private, but when you get the needles put in, you’re supposed to be in a room with other people. BUT, every time I’ve gone (at least 10 times), NO ONE has been in the room with me! So, pretty much, I got a private session for $ 35 every single time!
She is also very personable, knowledge, and responsive to questions in person and via e-​mail. I have already recommended Rachel to several friends who have been seeking fertility acupuncture!

I recently moved from Virginia to the Bay Area and wanted to continue with acupuncture. After reading all the reviews I went to see Rachel. Her office is very relaxing and warming. She consults with you first and then you have weekly appointments. My insurance did not cover her services but also offers reduced rates on certain days/​times that helps make it affordable.
I was reading that acupuncture helps with fertility by causing blood flow to the ovaries. She also helped me with my sleep at night. My husband and I are very excited because this helped us in a natural way. With acupuncture it took us about 2 – 3 months.
I would highly recommend seeing Rachel.

This was my first acupuncture experience and Rachel really made this experience for me. I started seeing Rachel in August and continued through April. If I had not moved to Napa, I would still see her.
Rachel really made me feel at ease — especially someone that is as squeamish as i am about getting poked with needles. She is very professional and really took the time to get to know me and my needs. I looked forward to our sessions because I always know I would get about 45 minutes of complete relaxation. There were more than a few times that I fell into a deep sleep.
I would recommend Rachel to anyone!

I just can’t say enough great things about Rachel…
So few people in the medical industry truly CARE about their patients. Many times, as you talk to health care professionals, I can almost see the money clock ticking on their eyes. They are counting the dollar signs associated with each patient.
But with Rachel, I can feel her genuine passion to help heal me and make me feel better. Rather than having to yell «Help. I’m the patient here. Can you listen to me!!!», I feel that she really listens and pays attention. This is crucial for me.
I think she charges way too little for her services. I get a 5 star rating care with each visit. =D
I wish more health practitioners everywhere were more like Rachel!!! **sigh**

Rachel and the acupuncture practice is amazing! I hesitantly started acupuncture after unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant. I tried everything and felt I’d run out of options before hearing about acupuncture. I couldn’t believe it when It only took one month of treatment before I was pregnant. Afterward, we continued treatment for the first trimester to combat any morning sickness or complication. It definitely worked! To this day I’ve had the easiest pregnancy of any of my friends. Rachel makes the whole process comfortable and easy; I would highly recommend City Pulse Acupuncture for anyone struggling with a complication. Can’t thank you enough Rachel!

Rachel is amazing. Last year my husband and I wanted to start working on baby #2, but after a year of nursing #1 my cycle still had not returned. I went to see Rachel and she treated me with acupuncture and herbs. After only four sessions and a couple of different herb concoctions Aunt Flo returned and six weeks later I was pregnant!
