City Nights

The management team were on point controlling the crowd and dance floor.
Hats are not allowed, and they had an entertaining dance-​off for competent dancers. Music kept the crowd going, and there are resting lounges located upstairs. They have two rooms, both with their own DJ, one being larger than the other. Overall, a decent first impression for a first-​time night out there.
The subsequent visits had line trouble and the management team didn’t even allow certain intoxicated guests to come in, even when they weren’t causing much trouble for everyone else. Don’t know how they judge each situation, but I guess it was handled. There is a water fountain adjacent to the bathrooms. Music is typically hip-​hop and R&B. Decent club overall.

Completely incompetent staff. Could not handle very simple directions for the event we held here. In addition, they refused to serve us tap water at the bar. There was also a very creepy back up DJ who made a pass at every single girl, single or not, at the club. Do not recommend for anyone

No water for free. What the fuck? Pretty sure this is illegal but the bartender told me I have to pay $ 4 if I want water. Never coming back.

I am very impressed with the management of this place. I went in and had an okay experience. I went on Unilocal and wrote a review. The manager contacted to make sure my complain was heard. He took the time to follow up in a very professional manner and explain what actions they had taken to make sure all guest have a pleasant experience. They are working hard to fix the place up and take it to the next level. Thanks to that I will give this place another try. Keep up the good work.

This was my first time ever going to a club, I enjoyed it. But there was a lot of creeps trying to fill on whatever they could everytime I passed by. (I’m sure it happened to ever female not just me). We drove all the way from Sacramento, my friends didn’t really have fun but I did. The manager or whoever the big guy was (forgot his name) was extremely nice ! I would definitely come back :)

If you really loved the songs that were played at your sixth grade Halloween dance this is your place. Both rooms featured dj’s that probably played at the local elementary school earlier that day. Unfortunately it is one of the few 18+ events available in San Fransisco. However, the fact that it was an 18+ night club wasn’t what made it cringeworthy it was the music. We’re talking Lil Jon from the early two thousands to like music older than I am. I could never be drunk enough for this. But hey, shake it like a Polaroid picture I guess.

Worse experience ever! Me and my co workers from Starbucks decided to go last minute here after our closing shift! We arrived around 11:30 to The club coming from redwood city. So anyways they told me I couldn’t wear a SnapBack inside the club after I freaking waited in line with my friends for like 25min! So I told the lady security that I’ll just go back to my car and put my hat in there! I came back and then the guy who checks IDs sends me to another security dude on the street! I waited for him to come talk to me for like 10min ugh! So then he finally comes over & tells me the problem was that I was wearing khaki shorts and that violates dress code! Again I’m like at a lost for words at this point because the lady security could of told me that beforehand! Anyways this dude tells me I can’t wear shorts into the club yet he lets some under 21 year old kid that was caught in line with a water bottle full of vodka! Like I seen him search the dude and he finds and takes the bottle and lets him go back in line! Are you freaking kidding me? So I complained to his boss that was running the event and he felt bad and let me in for just 10 dollars instead of paying 20! I would of preferred it to be free but whatever! Anyways the drinks come in little cups and are way over priced and aren’t even strong drinks! Nothing but little underage kids there! So not going back! They suck

This is the worst club ever! The guys that go here are the most disrespectful creeps I have ever encountered. Not only are there horny kids but creepy old men. This is not a place to be caught off guard. (Coming from a 20 year old)

I’m 24 years old, and City Nights is the first club I’ve ever been to. As far as music goes, it’s a lot of fun. There’s great beats and variety. However, I would probably go to an 21 and over Club in the future to better avoid the young horny boys who just want to bump and grind on any available female (my only complaint). If you go with a group of friends, it’s lots of fun. The security is polite, the bartenders offer good service, and I think this was a wonderful first experience! :)

We went this Saturday to see Eric Bellenger. We left at 1am and he never showed up. I couldnt believe how ratchet it was. Guys if your here to dance good luck, literally every girl there «just wanted to dance with their friend». I dont understand the crowd that this place attracts lol. Not worth it to stand around the outskirts of the club overhearing every other dude talk about how lame the place is until they got so bored they leave. Take the warning seriously: You do NOT want to go to City Nights. Just save up your money for a decent reputable event. This place sucks hard I can’t believe what a crappy time the whole thing was. Also girls, if you go out to a club and dont want to dance with guys… especially a ratchet place like this, go to your lesbian friends house turn off the lights and play some music.

It’s a decent club, the music was okhay, it was a mix of rave and hip hop type of music, my oh advice is that stay with your friends and your definitely gonna have fun and ladies there’s lots of thirsty ass guys in there, the only thing I don’t like is that out of no where after having a good ass music, they be playing some Taylor swift type of music which causes the mood down and the cost of water bottle is $ 4 which is definitely a rip off

I should make a note, this clubs is not actually 5 stars, I’d say it’s 3.5, this is compensating for the 1 star reviews that are that way simply because of the fact that the club get packed.
Personally if you are thinking about going, I’d go on a Wednesday Night (EPR) or a Friday night (Club X). Saturdays are beyond me and probably by far the most ratchet.
If you are smart, you’ll never pay the $ 20 cover if you either message them on facebook beforehand or get one of their many ways for discounted cover (for friday nights you can usually get in for free if you know where to look, Wednesday nights have less discounts).
So my experience usually includes free entry, no wait in line, most of the security guards being super respectful and nice.
Some of the new promoters can be a bit puffy like puff fish thinking that they are the shit because they work there, but most of them are also extremely chill.
Overall my experiences there have been positive.
btw, if you are a girl, and there is someone you don’t like following you around, or creepin, you can always ask security and they will help you out.

My friends and I actually call this S***y nights. It’s pretty bad. I’m over the same music with the same beat and there’s a bunch of kids there. Not worth going. Just wait till your 21 to go to a better club, or attempt to find a better 18+ club.

Only place me and my friends could all get in because of our ages, not many 18+ clubs around. If you’re 21+ please please go somewhere else you will be very disappointed. Its a fairly big club with two dance floors and an upstairs lounge area and second bar, the music consists of top 40 and hip hop on Saturday nights and it gets PACKED, lots of young people with a handful for 40+ year olds lurking for young women. Men get super grabby and creepy. I can say ive made the best of it during my times here but im about to be 21 and ill NEVER be back!

Eh. That’s the review. Eh. It’s full of high school kids, who possibly have fakes. Some of those kids looked like they were thirteen. And to top it off there were like two forty year old guys trying to get some hahaha!

The DJ sucked tonight. I believe he repeatedly played 6 songs tonight. My playlist is better than the DJ. I ended up having a headache by the end of the night. Terrible DJ.

City Nights, the only place (I could find in SF) that would admit 18 and over. Came with my daughter and her friends. got there at 8:45 pm but place does not open till 9:30 p.m. Got in line (you have to be behind the ashtray, mind you). Promoters were polite and ready to answer questions. Bartenders were nice (seems that not a lot of people order drinks there,…hmmm). Got a reserved spot on Mezzanine with no problem ($ 25.00). Note: cannot go out to smoke and go back in prior to 12 midnight .
Music: hip hop
Atmosphere: ok. lots of females hang by or in the bathroom (how odd,.)
Drinks: pretty good, pretty affordable
Staff: very polite
Only thing, when they opened the main floor, the music was super duper loud and I was/​am surprised how they manage to do that. I swear it could ruin your eardrums,.

Just don’t. Wait the 3 years.

I won’t even review this joint. You get 2 stars and you know why.

A Fantastic Venue Back In The Day — Eh, not so much now.
SITREP
City Nights was a spectacular venue that brought together a cutting-​edge group of musicians, dancers and a wonderful dark-​wave crowd… but this was back in the 1990s to the early 2000s.
THE RUN-​DOWN
Then 2001 rolled around, the welcome mat rolled up and so began a steady-​decline of what was once a superb music performances and guest DJ-​spots.
I witnessed the beauty of Faith & The Muse, VNV Nation, Diva Destruction, the Hellbillies, and I MET Trent Reznor and Brian Warner (aka Marilyn Manson) in these hollowed halls. But no more.
THE EVENTS
The wondrous DJs that once graced these halls — «X», DJ Blixa, DJ Nako, and others — created some of the most spectacular events to attend: «RODERICKS CHAMBER» (1994 – 2001) and «CAMERA OBSCURA» (2001 – 2003). I cry many tears that these days could be relived again. But they are not.
GIRLFRIEND CENTRAL
Of no small consequence to me is that fact that I MET four (4) of my most significant relationships in my life at this venue. [I even «did» it in the broom closet with one of those vixens during the «Faith & The Muse» concert — seriously, a LIFETIME memory I will always cherish, as the mop handle was digging into my back, but f*ck, did I care? F*ck no!] But I don’t find myself going through these doors as much these days, and, ALAS!, probably why I am still single! ;^D
TODAY
Periodically I find myself coming back here now and again — mainly because of two sweet Russian girls I was dating — but the music is more Hip Hop and Rap now these days, the crowd is more rude and uncouth, and I can not find adequate reasons to praise this venue any more.
THE LOWDOWN
Ce la vie. Time marches on for better or worse (and in this case, for worse). But I will still give it TWO STARS — One for the spectacular event-​memories that once were, and a second because of the girlfriends I once acquired here in far far better days. *Deep Sigh*
