Citibank

Impersonal bank… Tellers are fine but the personal banking is horrible… I am a citigold customer and have not established any personal relationship with this branch. I will be talking my business elsewhere. They do not say hello or try to get to know you.

It looks like the bad reviews from the other Unilocalers are dated a while back. The personnel might have changed because i have been here a few times lately for their teller and I’ve only received good customer service. There is rarely a line so the wait time is usually very short. The tellers greet you and are all very courteous. They don’t try to hard sell you «promotions» or credit cards like what the other banks do. Today, I went to close an existing account and open a new one. We sat with one of the personal bankers, Tracy. She was fast and thorough. We got everything done in less than 15 minutes. When it was time to move the money from the closed account to the new one, Tracy walked us to the counter and she ensured everything was handled properly. They treated us like important customers although we don’t have a huge bank account.
In terms of the person complaining that the counter is all the way in the back of the bank — yes, that’s true. But this branch doesn’t have big thick glass partitions between you and teller. Where are we? In prison where you have to pick up the handset to talk to one another?!? It’s a more «personable» design. I’d rather walk a few steps.

I feel really upset and it is my first time to go to city bank. I have been waited for 30mins but everyone just ignores me. After 30mins other people came in, they still ignoring me. So incredible. Bad service ever!

I feel like every time I come here they have new tellers that don’t know how to do transactions outside of deposit and withdrawal. Do you know they have ATMs for that? Please train your tellers to know how to do cash advances.

this citibandk is unigue. in that the cashier’s window is unseen. upon entry.
one must keep walking until the discreet stalls appear on the left side.
once found, tjhe cashier processed my CC payment quickly, they also offered to introduce me to a loan officer .
my meter was running so i declines.

Customer service BLOWS. Rude teller named Lisha or something, she wasn’t even the one helping me! I lost my wallet and had absolutely no money on me so I tried to withdraw some cash in case of emergency. I offered a picture of my drivers license (lost it with my wallet) and my SSN. Lisha butts in almost yelling that I couldn’t and she needed a physical card to withdraw money. Obviously she didn’t hear my problem because I DIDNT HAVE THE CARD. ANYTHING. The teller lady that was actually helping me just needed my SSN and to verify my name and what not and I was easily able to do it. After realizing what happened, Lisha tried to be nice and make jokes. Uh no.

Horrible

I really don’t understand why this branch has such horrible reviews. It’s super conveniently located (i live a block away), their ATM is 24-​hrs, their staff is always friendly and greets everyone as they enter & service is fast and efficient.
Although I have my issues with Citibank as a whole on the larger/​company scale, there’s nothing wrong with this branch and the folks who work here.

I remember coming to this place a few times before and not really liking it. They are a bank and everything seems self service. They don’t want to help people.

I just came in to get information on a home loan. The mortgage representative was a prick. I asked him for some information on home loan and his response was «why don’t you call around?» Caught off guard I told the asshole I wanted to talk with you in person. His next response was to get pre-​approval you need to pay $ 50. He then stares at me blankly. WTF? So I get up and walk out. I was pretty pissed off and came back to talk with the manager. The manage semi-​apologized. Since I bank with wells fargo the manager asked me «can’t wells fargo give you a loan?» I guess people don’t shop for home loans around here. No wonder their stock went from $ 60 to 90 cents. They aren’t even worth 90 cents. Garbage customer service.

I don’t what’s up with those one star and two star ratings, but I think I got some good service at this bank. For someone who isn’t that great in the English language and excels in the Cantonese language, I can totally understand. Some of the other Citibanks I go to in the city have some shady bank tellers who act like you’re a foreigner. That’s totally jacked up. Good service = good business.
The staff here got my needs taken care of quickly and efficiently. The manager is young, kinda cute and knows her stuff. Other than that, I’m pretty content with the service I get.

OH NO YOU DIDN’T!
I don’t have an account with CitiBank. I bank with that big dumb animal WAMU. But this review isn’t about WAMU. No, it’s about a friendly little $ 3 surcharge for non-​CitiBank withdrawals.
Sure this absurd charge may be a corporate policy, my disgust is likely misplaced, nevertheless, THREE BUCKS TO TAKE OUT TWENTY? Yet, as with much of life, a solution is simply found — walk 15 feet down Irving and pull out your money from the WellsFargo and their «standard» $ 2 charge. Then go spend it at Arizmendi.

i’ve been banking here for years, about 6ish or so.
i’ve had some really good experiences, but that has changed, and progressively gotten worse, or at best gotten very unpredictable.
overall, citibank sucks, and were looking to change.
help me find a better bank, Unilocalers!
so, here’s the long saga of our rocky relationship w/​citibank…
we opened our accts before it was citibank, back when it was still calfed. it really seemed better than.
in the past 3 years, i’ve had some decent experiences, some nice and friendly and even helpful tellers.
and i’ve had some really bad experiences. once, i even wrote a complaint about how i was treated in this branch. the woman, i think she was the manager at the time, was so rude, the person in front of and behind me in line, were equally shocked, and since we had all been talking to each other in line before it was our turns to be helped, they all reacted strongly to her behavior, the guy in front of me even stood up for me when the woman was so rude. i was just so shocked, i just stood there with my mouth open for about a whole minute, and he piped in. yes, i felt like a damsel in distress being rescued, not my usuall m.o. but ok by me this time. at least i think she got the picture when the other customers even had to react, and stand up for me, to how she was.
also, a problem with citibank in general, i’ve had my paychecks, that i’ve deposited in the bank box, returned to me on numerous occasions because the signature didn’t match the one on file. i went into another branch to clear this up. the woman was helpful (the branch on geary) and showed me the signature on file in the computer, and looked a the returned check. she said, it seemed close enough and thought there should not have been a problem.
just one more pain in my ass here!
another time, i got a «corrected» deposit error, in which citibank changed my deposit amount in their favor.
when i tried to get more info, i got the run-​around.
i called, wrote, emailed, and came in to this branch to try to get it resolved, or at least get more info on why this «correction» happened.
the manager at this location took down my name and info to look into this matter and promised to call me the next week or so, but never did!
all this to fix, or at least understand why, to no avail, i never got an answer at all as to why this happened, but finally, after about 6 weeks, i got another «correction» notice with the money re-​deposited,
hmmm…
and there’s more! so, i’ve had one of those bank cards that also acts as a credit card. when the last one expired, i got a new one, and it no longer works as a credit card, just at the tellers and bank boxes. i also called and went in the have this resolved. again, to no avail. they sent another new card, it also didn’t work properly! crap!
i’ve never quite trusted them again.
imcompetence at best, at worst, well, you can judge based on the above info…

I used to bank here like forever ago and while I am not a big fan of going inside the bank ever, occasionally I would have to set foot inside it’s very quiet walls. Back then I had no problem doing it because there was a lot of helpful staff there to assist me with my needs. Today however, things went incredibly wrong.
I had received a check the other day from a friend for a considerable amount of money. The check belonged to citibank, so I figured I would stop by in the afternoon and cash the sucka. Upon entering I was looked up and down (practically scrutinized) and not in the good way by an older Asian woman. I was dressed down mind you, but WTF! I live around the corner so I see no reason to dress up.
After that, I had to wait 7 minutes in line because the other tellers were doing something that was so important that they couldn’t get to me, I hope you ladies enjoyed your conversation. The 7 minute ordeal ends when finally this old Russian woman gets behind the counter and decides to take me on.
I give her my check and tell her that I had wished to cash it, gave her my two forms of ID and waited for the cash to flow in… only, it didn’t. I started to notice that it was taking really long to cash a simple check, and when I looked at her terminal she was looking at my friends account. All of a sudden she picks up the phone and starts dialing my friend… wtf is going on? She doesn’t get through so I asked her what the problem was, then she walks away from me and goes and talks to the Asian woman that had scrutinized me earlier… then she walks back over with her and she proceeds to tell me that they can’t cash the check. There is nothing wrong with it except that it has a different address, but I can’t cash it… it’s the same account but I can’t cash it. I take my check and go home… pissed off.
My roommate has banked with them for years and told me that it shouldn’t have been an issue at all for them to cash the check. I don’t want to say it, but I thought it was pretty racist… it left me extremely embarrassed to the point of feeling compelled to file a complaint.
2 stars to this place… the only reason for warranting it second star is because there is no line inside. If I ever go back here again it will be because it is close to my house, but even that is a fucking long shot.

i go here about once a week for deposits on company check. i realized that a couple of the counter people always change. some of them come in and are as dumb as a rock. they just don’t know how to operate the system and don’t know what to do. they look for the manager all the time. but, i gotta say, the manager right now is very nice and very good at her job. she knows what she’s doing. almost never seen a mistake on her side. i also like how they welcome people. couple of the employees sitting at the tables always says hi and goodbye when i walk in.
