Specialties
I specialize in portraits. You know those photos where everyone’s looking at the camera, smiling, and looking extra happy? Yep, I do that. But what makes a portrait session all the more special with me are the quiet moments in between those «look at the camera and smile» shots. I’ll tell people to «interact» with each other and they’ll look at me slightly confused and then proceed to… interact with each other. So much so that they’ll forget I’m even there. And that’s when those moments happen: quietly candid interaction, beautifully framed in a single photograph. That’s what I specialize in.
History
Established in 2007.
During a period of (f)unemployment at the end of 2006, I decided that I would invest in a DSLR camera. (A very reasonable financial decision considering the fact that I didn’t have an income!) I learned to wield the camera properly it by shadowing two different wedding photographers and acting as their assistant and second shooter. I owe a lot to them. As I found more people who wanted photos, I realized three things: (1) I’m pretty good at this; (2) I really enjoy doing this; and (3) people are actually paying me for this. Life’s never been better after that discovery!
Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner
Hi! I’m the business owner, photographer, editor, and everything-else person for Chung Nguyen | Photographer. Thank you so much for visiting my Yelp! page and taking an interest. I hope you’ll contact me to learn more about getting photographed!
Since this is my bio, let me just tell you about me in a nutshell… I’m actually a first-generation immigrant. I came to the US in 1989 with my HUGE immediate family. I’ve got 10 nieces and nephews. I went to UC Berkeley and have a BA in English, which means I could write this bio forever (character limit be damned!). I’m very patient with animals and kids. And yeah, they’re very similar. And I like them both. I’m currently loving Ethiopian food because it’s flavorful and a nice change of pace. I’ve traveled to Southeast Asia and Western Europe alone with nothing more than a dream and my backpack. I let my dog sleep with me and we inadvertently have snoring competitions. In my dreams, I win!
