Chef Jed Larkin Catering

Jim F. beat me to it but I want to also shower Chef Jed with praise. The food was amazing!!! I am a jaded foodie and considering that the elements were tough (outdoor dining in SF mid-​summer — crazy, right?) I was not prepared to be wow-​ed the way I was! Not only was the food delicious but it was hot and beautifully presented. Not a detail was missed.
What Jim F. did not mention was that Chef Jed cut his finger badly during prep — and had to go the emergency room. You would have never known. His staff were fine for the couple of hours he was gone and he returned with stitches and a big bandage and jumped back in.

We hired Jed to cater our outdoor wedding reception in Sonoma County for over a 100 guests being held at a private residence. The event turned out amazing largely to due to Jed.
He took charge and organized all the rentals and brought in a whole outdoor kitchen since the location didn’t provide one. He was on top of it, flexible, and on budget. Plus the staff couldn’t have been friendlier.
The amazing food was fresh and delicious. We started off with risotto fritters, ceviche in endive and spicy quesadillas. Then the main course included tri-​tip steak and halibut over white beans, watermelon salad, heirloom capresse salad, grilled corn salad. Everyone raved about the food. And the menu was designed to avoid gluten allergies, not an easy thing to do.
It went beyond expectation and gave the evening all the romance of a summer Tuscan meal. Thank you again Jed.

Oh, Chef Jed…

If brownie points actually had anything to do with brownies, I’d be requiring a U-​Haul of Pyrex pans. Jed scored me loads of these «points» with my uncle, his boss, and all their co-​workers with his amazing Moroccan-​style fare at our semi-​corporate party… 20 different palettes to please, and he did it with a smile! I knew he was a keeper when we first met and he brought his dog (who promptly blocked Craig Newmar of Craigslist in a coffee shop doorway with his sassiness).
Jed coordinated all rentals for the party, arrived early enough to deal with said rentals, then made sure post-​party pickup arrangements were made (and clear) before he left the event for the evening. To some, this is a minor detail, but to those of us with OCD/​planning issues, it’s freaking fabulous! No stressing about who would be getting the last items rounded up, or who would be making the return trip to fill-in-the-blank…because Jed had our back!
Excellent communication from start to finish, enthusiasm, honesty, and efficiency. (I wish I could turn that into some kind of rad acronym but it’s just not gonna work, too many E’s.) An added bonus of Jed’s fabulosity: the staff he brings with him to the event! They were just as great as him and equally as professional. I encountered them frequently throughout the night, quietly clearing plates and glasses. Unbeknownst to them prior to the event, they were in a strict no-​shoes house and were asked to work without footwear. I know, as a gal in the «industry», this is not generally a legit request, and can lead to very sore tootsies. Jed and co complied with nary a toot of displeasure… which is why we made sure to tip handsomely so they could all get a rubdown (sorry y’all!).
I heart Jed & the way he rolls!
Bottom line, hire Jed for your next event. But don’t hog him, we like him a lot!

Party planning makes me melt — I dread it. I enlisted my niece to help stage our company’s party at the bosses’ house. She found Jed Larkin through colleagues of hers. From our first meeting to the latest follow-​up phone call, my experience with Jed has been stellar. We schemed a Morrocan meal for 20 that he pulled off flawlessly. His calm-​in-​a-​storm demeanor was just the anchor to settle the nerves and the food was peerless. Kudos keep rolling in to the office from party guests dazzled by the night. I won’t dread party planning anymore as Jed’s my go-​to guy.

We hired Jed to cater a brunch for 65 people at our home the Sunday morning after our October wedding, and boy, did we do the right thing! Scrumptious! Scrumptious! Scrumptious! Jed served:
Scrambled eggs with goat cheese and dill
Asparagus with a very light vinaigrette
These little baked rolls with a slice of ham inside of them
A variety of toasts
Juices, coffee, and sparkling water.
So the food was awesome. Guests could not get enough of the little toasted warm rolls-​everyone was eating them like crazy! What amazed me was this: Jed was reasonably priced and invisible! He arrived one hour before the brunch began. Calm, cool, and very collected, I didn’t hear one plate slam, one pot bang, or one voice raised! Just what I wanted the morning after my wedding. And he set up the Bloody Mary/​Mimosa bar, too! He greeted guests with a huge smile and asked how he could serve them. Silverware roll-​ups and warmed plates, cold orange choice and warm toast, he did it all!
Best of all, I didn’t lift a finger and he left the kitchen spotless (probably much cleaner than it was before)!

We had Chef Jed cater our wedding, and it was far beyond expectations. Planning the reception was remarkably easy; Jed provides clear and frequent email communications and proposals. He has access to superior, reliable rental vendors, so it was no trouble at all adding last-​minute items. He hires the finest catering staff who were not only professional but genuinely engaging and enthusiastic. And the food! His menu had our 75 guests immensely satisfied – and coming back for more and more. He turned a plain banquet room into an elegant dining experience. His pricing is very competitive compared to the market. I most strongly recommend Chef Jed – you will not be disappointed. For my next event, I will only make one call: to Jed.
