Charlie Davis Body Work

Just had my first massage with Charlie, and it was absolutely phenomenal! I’ve been to at least five different places all over San Francisco and this is by far the best massage experience I’ve had to date. Whereas other places will apply too much pressure to the point it hurts or not enough where you’re barely massaged, Charlie was intuitively perfect from the beginning. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a superb massage experience. He’s also super friendly and very accommodating for last minute appointments.

I’m visiting from LA and scheduled a 2 hour massage with Charlie at the last minute. He was very accommodating with my request. Best massage I’ve had in my 53 years on Earth! Charlie was very professional, friendly, and strong. He was intuitive to my specific needs and very strong –but not too strong — I was able to relax. In fact, I am so relaxed I am falling asleep as I write this review. I will definitely recommend Charlie to all my SF friends and will book an appointment next time I’m in SF. Excellent massage and great person. He will make you feel comfortable right away. No attitude, just a great massage therapist. Thanks Charlie!

Charlie is really cool and intuitive. And a great masseuse. Applies the perfect pressure. And lots of good oil. Left very relaxed.

I just had a two hour massage from Charlie. It was superb! I generally have trouble having massage on my back due to extreme tension and sensitivity. Charlie took the time to ease my back into relaxation and within 10 minutes he was able to dig pretty deep and I was able to relax into it!
I’m here in San Francisco for vacation and went to Charlie on my first day and scheduled another two hour session for my last day.

Very reliable, consistent, professional, and easy to get along with. His massages have tremendously helped my chronic back pain, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

First time seeing Charlie. My boyfriend recommended him and he was AWESOME. I was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome and have been in pain for 1 ½ years. Sometimes things like yoga, or a massaging chair would help (a little), so I decided to try a REAL massage per doctor’s orders. I have felt SOOO much better since I got my massage on Saturday (today is Wednesday). I thought I would experience a day or two of feeling better, but it’s Wednesday and I’m still feeling the benefits!
Would definitely recommend and will be going back soon. Thank you Charlie!

Charlie is terrific for a lot of reasons. He makes you feel comfortable and taken care of. His studio is convenient. His flexibility is great since I often put things like massages off until I can no longer function effectively without some therapeutic bodywork. What I like about his technique is that it is very fluid. For me, Swedish massages are too light, and deep tissue massages are not particularly relaxing. Charlie seems to know just when and where to apply the right amount of pressure so that the experience is both therapeutic and calming. And even if Charlie wasn’t a great masseur, I’d still go to his studio for the soundtrack.

Charlie is amazing… I went in with a lot of shoulder pain and tension from working at a desk all day every day and he knew exactly how to help alleviate it. Great studio, easy to get to, nicely decorated, calm.
Charlie makes you feel totally comfortable and at ease, he takes the time to understand your issue and how to work on you, and he plays awesome music (no chimes and waterfalls… but relaxing and contemporary music you’d want to hear). Also I called on a Saturday and he was able to squeeze me in for the same day which was fabulous.
I will definitely be going back to him!

I’ve been going to Charlie for over a year now and the sessions are always top-​notch. Charlie has great techniques and the deep strokes are really effective in getting out the knots in my back and legs from my CrossFit workouts. Charlie himself is a really good guy — easy-​going, funny and warm. The space is really convenient to get to and the sessions have a great vibe, especially from the awesome music he works to. Cannot recommend Charlie strongly enough!

I had seen Charlie because my back was super tight. It was messing up my sleep. Not only did he work me out, but it just made me feel wonderful. I am not a super spiritual person, but I actually cried. He fixed what I came in for and more. Highly recommended!

Charlie is a great masseuse!

I went to Charlie for the first time last week – my goodness my back and neck feel AMAZING. I was complaining about the chronic pain in my back and neck a lot more than usual, so my boyfriend took it upon himself to make an appoint with Charlie for me. I was a little apprehensive before the massage – as I haven’t had the best massage experiences. Charlie is very welcoming and charismatic, my entire experience was informal, but professional.
Unlike other masseuses I’ve frequented in the past, Charlie combines multiple massage techniques to really give you the most comprehensive massage experience possible. Charlie assessed my neck and shoulder problems and massaged them accordingly. The massage was strong but gentle and his hands worked some real magic on my back and neck – the deep tissue part of the massage left me a little tender (which is expected) but two days later most of my chronic pain was hardly noticeable. I’m sure that anyone with chronic back pain can relate to how extraordinarily wonderful it feels to have that pain alleviated.
I’m looking forward to scheduling another visit with Charlie soon!

I’ve been getting regular massages for the past 15 years or more. I came to San Francisco on vacation and along with me came a seized up shoulder and back. I happened upon Charlie’s website and booked an appointment. This man has a gift. His intuitive nature, his alternating deep touch with gentle touch gave me the relief I was needing.
Do yourself a favor. If you need a massage, look no further than Charlie. He really is one-​of-​a-​kind. I only wish he lived in my city.

So I have had regular massages for the past 10 years due to my line of work (dental hygienist: hunching over people, scraping food debris and other shit that people are generous to leave behind thus keeping me employed). Anyway, In the early 00’s i had a great massage therapist for several years, who ended up moving back to oregon because rents were too high due to the hi-​tech pricks invading the city. remember those times?
But I digress it literally took me years to find a great massage therapist again. I went though the usual bunch of «massage» therapist out there:
-«therapists» who apply lotion on your body as thought they are applying sunscreen and call it massage
-«therapists» that spend a little too much time for comfort on your nether regions
-«therapists» that have a massage table in their bedrooms (boundaries people!!)
-«therapists» that use their «feet» (gross!) to get «deeper» really?
Frustrated, I did a search on craigslist several years back and came across The massage was amazing. Charlie is intuitive, caring, One doesn’t feel rushed and felt completely relaxed, which is what a massage should be.

I get a lot of massages and am a huge advocate for getting them. I am always on the quest for a good massage therapist — and one that I can keep going to. I went to Charlie for the first time this week — and he was great. I loved his straightforward approach, he was very clear with expectations and listened to what my concerns were. He was very responsive while making the appointment — and answering all my questions.

I’ve been going to Charlie for the last couple years. He never fails to get my body feeling great! And his studio on market near the Castro muni makes it really easy for me to get to him! Go see Charlie! You won’t be disappointed!

The first time I went to Charlie was over 2 yrs ago so as you can see this review is long overdue! Since I’ve met Charlie, I haven’t gone to anyone else for a good deep tissue, relaxing massage. He is very intuitive, going deep just where you need it and gentle on other areas — just like the other reviews indicate strong hands and sensitive touch. He takes his time during the session and checks in with you periodically. I’ve never felt rushed.
About Charlie, he is very responsive when you try to get in touch with him. If he doesn’t immediately answer, he’s probably in a session but rest assured you will get a call back soon after. He has a great personality and is one of the nicest people I’ve met!
BTW, his rates are VERY REASONABLE!
