Excellent tailor: I’ve gone to this tailor for years for minor and some more major adjustments and repairs. His prices are reasonable and the quality of his work is always excellent.

My pants (3 of them) were left too short… even after trying on, pinning it, AND bringing the proper shoes. My dress hem was also too short even after trying it on and her pinning it and the belt (it’s a wrap dress) was not hemmed. She gladly fixed the dress and belt but I had to come back in a few days. As far as the pants, there was no room to make them longer… sucks. She is very pleasant but definitely a language barrier which may have been the problem.

I wrote a 5 star review but don’t see it any longer so want to do it again. C & W recommended by Satin Moon where I bought the fabric for a gig dress to be copied from another. I grew up sewing with a highly talented seamstress mother so I know about fittings, buying fabric, the works. I show up for a fitting and put on the half made dress and Mei takes out what look like huge orange gardening sheers and cuts here and there with me in the dress. One dart was high and the other low. I thought to self, «ok this was a good experiment but don’t get your hopes up; good thing I still have the original dress…» I return a week later to a perfect dress with piped sleeves. Great pricing and expert work. This is a wow place. I’ve had her copy and make other dress wear, repair sweaters, etc. Everything is top notch.

Came in to hem a pair of dress pants and was in and out in about 10 minutes. We were two people looking to do tailor adjustments in a very short time frame, and Mei told us she would get it done. In the next few days, we picked up our garments and looked like brand new gentlemen.
Parking is sufficient in the surrounding Sunset area but make sure to bring cash. It’s a simple and easy job… no hassles!

Mei Mei did a beautiful job custom-​fitting my evening dress from Nordstrom. It has an intricate pattern around the waist where it needed to be taken in. She lined everything up — no one can tell part of it is taken out and it fits me like a glove.
When I picked it up we were both so happy with the result.
Mei Mei called me the next day letting me know she owed me $$. I had paid my bill in full the day before forgetting about the deposit I had paid earlier. We were both so happy with the result that neither of us checked the balance or counted the payment. Mei Mei is not only an artist but honest as well.

Wanted to say thank you for the perfect bridesmaid dress alteration! The dress needed to be taken in about 2 sizes, had lots of fabric, and I needed a pretty quick turnaround. C&W worked their magic, and the dress fit perfectly! Thank you!

I had a pretty good experience here. I brought a bridesmaids dress in to have it taken in. The owner is very efficient. She gets you in and out the door in 5 minutes. She took in the dress so that it was about a size smaller. It was strapless so I was worried it wouldn’t stay up but she did a great job and it feels very secure. To take it in cost $ 50.
I also she asked if she could shorten it about an inch but she advised me that it wouldn’t be worth it because of how complicated the bottom of the dress was. She told me it would have cost $ 80 so I appreciate the fact that she didn’t try to convince me to.
The alteration took about two weeks and she only takes cash by the way.

I specifically joined Unilocal to write this review. Mei is amazing! I had a bridesmaid dress that needed a lot of alterations, and looked like it would be difficult to achieve. Mei not only got all the alterations done flawlessly, but quickly too. She’s an absolute rockstar! The only thing is that it was a bit pricey, but I think that’s because of all the work needed to fix it. Either way, I’d do it again in a heartbeat because it’s quality, good service and craftsmanship! You can just tell she knows exactly what she’s doing and loves her work to boot. She was great — would recommend over and over!

I got my wedding dress sized down. Very heavy satin and not easy to work with and I had to take in at least 4 inches everywhere plus shorten. I was also on a deadline very close to the date, but she managed to work with me and guaranteed that it would be ready on time!
She was also very helpful with recommending strap options since it was strapless, and suggested using the fabric that I would lose from taking it in so much to use for the straps. It came out beautifully and was the last (procrastinating!) thing I needed to get done before my wedding trip in France!
When I move back to the city, I’ll be taking all my office dresses there to be altered!

I bought an off the rack gown at Nordstrom to use for my wedding dress. I knew it’d need alterations (no big pink bow for me!) and I wanted to add straps so I wouldn’t be pulling on it all day/​night.
Mei came through with flying colors — we changed out the sash (the easy part) but she added straps that were wide at the bottom and narrowed as they came to my shoulder — which was totally slimming — she also wide set the straps to ‘hide’ the boob bulge that can sometimes over-​flow on the top/​sides of a dress when you’ve got copious amounts of cleavage. Mei also had me bring a stack of bras to find the best one and then finished the dress so the straps didn’t show all night. She was great at making suggestions for the dress and ideas that were flattering. All this with a couple of quick fittings and a very reasonable price.

So I bought a wedding dress at David’s Bridal & had about 2 weeks to alter it. I looked online everywhere for a great, local & inexpensive place & I’m glad that I found C & W. I walked in on a Friday without an appt & was out of there in less than 10 minutes.
There was some beading on my dress, but I wanted to change it. I bought a sash with beading & I thought it would be something that would be difficult, but she said that she could do it. I had her also do some small things & she pinned the areas & was ready to alter it. I got my dress a week later & it was perfect. I only paid 48 bucks, but I honestly thought that I’d have to pay a lot more.

After my last experience here I’m appalled with the human nature. I’m also in absolute disbelief that someone could be such blatant liar, and so unprofessional, while trying to run their own business. To make this short: we went to Mei, explained we are going on vacation and we need clothes altered before our trip. She’s advised us that we must pick up clothing on Thursday, as she plans to be closed on Friday and Saturday. Sounds fine, as we are leaving on Sunday. This Thursday, the day she told us to come back, we go there, her shop is closed. Wow. Unreal. We had been calling entire Thursday hoping to be able to reach her and to fetch our stuff at no avail :(
Well C&W, and Mei, I hope you read this, as we are about to depart, and my jeans are still locked in your store, because you couldn’tcare less about what you said and promissed. You obviously don’t care about your promises. I do. And I promise you, when we come back, you will NOT be paid a dime for your «service». I also promise you that every single friend that I’ve sent to you will be told NOT to go to your place anymore, as well as I promise you to share this ridiculous experience with as many people as possible. Shame.

What can I say, but Mei is amazing!
I recently got married and had Mei do my alterations after some big problems arose with the bridal shop I purchased my dress from. I went in to see Mei just over 3 weeks before my wedding and she was able to make my dress fit like a glove in the time I had before I left for my wedding! I went in for 3 fittings overall to make the adjustments, and Mei was very good at ensuring she was altering my dress to ensure that the cost wasn’t crazy! And she was honest about what changes we should make to the dress without trying to break my bank.
I will absolutely refer and use Mei again in the future for any alterations I have. If she can make my wedding gown look amazing on me, I’m sure she can work wonders with whatever is put in front of her. Just know, she only accepts cash payments, no credit cards.

I’m not sure who C&W are, but clearly the woman who wears the pants in this shop is Meie Yi!
I had been looking for a tailor who could make a skirt from scratch off pattern and not charge an arm and a leg, and voila! Until now I had only been able to find this service overseas so I was not surprised that Meie was from Hong Kong. She is one feisty woman, very sure of herself and it’s now easy to see why. I had some fabric from West Africa that I was given as a gift and it was two years before I found someone to make some skirts out of it. I brought photos of styles I found online and she made them better than the originals I thought.
So, look no further if you want quality work at an affordable price, but also someone who is a true artisan.

Couldn’t have asked for better service. Brought my slacks in on thursday needed them by 1pm friday for work. Came back and they were all set for $ 16. When I came to pick up my slacks I brought a white button down shirt with me and asked if they could iron it real quick for me and they did! I loved that they didn’t think it was a big deal or bothersome just happy to help. and that was $ 2. And like another review said the woman with short hair and a lil spike is awesome!

This woman is a rockstar.
I had a dress I needed to wear for an upcoming wedding-​one week away-​and it needed some serious alterations. Using Unilocal,I went to two different tailors in the sunset, both who rejected my pleas to help my wedding dressing needs.
On my third and desperate final try, I went to C&W. The owner is a Hong Kong version of Pattie Smith, husky voiced with spiky, badass hair. She also has a few glamour shot photos of herself hanging around her shop, which made me like her even more. By the time I got to her, I was fairly despondent, and ready to be rejected again. Instead, she had me try on my dress, looked at it and said, «Easy, no problem.» And then she even showed me where she could make the alternations. I came back three days later and the dress fit perfectly. I was so impressed, and kept telling her so.
We agreed on a price-​which was totally reasonable. She had me come back for a fitting and she made final adjustments, all in five days total. If you need some serious alterations, formal dresses, suits, etc., this woman is it. Don’t even bother going anywhere else. I am a tailoring junkie and have been tailoring clothes for years. She has surpassed all other tailors I’ve encountered in the city.

Came here for the first time for alterations and couldn’t be happier.
I purchased a Sue Wong evening gown that fits everywhere but the bust area. As the dress has intricate beading and embroidery, May was honest in saying that it’s not worth it to pay her $$$ to let it out. Being a custom seamstress, she found an alternative solution to my problem and I didn’t have to leave down an arm or a leg. Crisis diverted!

My parents always go here to alter expensive clothing! Mei is very to the point and tells you exactly what needs to be done and how much it will cost. She’s also very quick and can do last minute tailoring.
I had a really expensive dress I bought last minute for a dance and she was able to fix it within 24 hours. She saved my night, literally.
Come here only if what you have costs over $ 100 because the lowest price she starts with is 20 $. There’s a chart on the counter that shows the exact prices.

Trip 1 to C & W: Dropped off jeans (for slimming/​original hem) and dress pants (slim/​hem). Paid 25 $ for each.
Trip 2: Pick-​up. Asked to try on the clothes, but was ushered out and told to just bring them back if I had problems. Ok… I figured she just didn’t want me to take up a dressing room.
Well actually, it was probably because the dress pants weren’t altered at all. and the alterations we had agreed on were significant so it was clear she hadn’t done them.
To be fair, the jeans that she did alter looked good.
Trip 3: Brought the pants back, she claimed she did tailor them but agreed to fix them.
Trip 4: She couldn’t find my pants. After 15 minutes of searching, she told me to come back in 20 minutes. It seemed like she was just trying to get rid of me so I told her I would wait. She looked for a few more minutes, then told me to write down the store name/​address where I got them and she would replace them for me.
However, ultimately it was clear she was not going to find the pants, had no intention of replacing them for me, and was just making false promises to try to get me out of the store.
Finally, she reimbursed me for the pants. When I pointed out she said she would replace them and had made me go through the trouble of writing down directions to the store, as well as look up the exact size/​model, she just shook her head and moved on to the next customer.
So 4 trips to C&W later, I am out a bunch of gas, time, and a pair of pants.
She clearly doesn’t have any qualms about lying to her clients when she makes mistakes. Just admit it and reimburse me so I can be on my way instead of wasting more of my time!

Convenient location, affordable prices, excellent craftsmanship.
The bf and I have been coming here to get alterations/​hems for coats, pants, and dresses… the dresses are mine ;P You come in looking like you found over sized clothing at a thrift store and leave looking like a million bucks.
