Budget Rent A Car

I reserved, online, a PREMIUM SUV for the max occupancy of 8. When I went to pick up the car, the rep asked me how many people was I looking to fit in the car, I said 8 people. LEONARDO, the rep who was handling my rental, said, well this SUV only really has a maximum occupancy of 7, but I have a minivan that will accomodate 8 people. I said that’s fine, that was what I was looking for initially online but the occupancy said 7 people, so I opted for the premium suv because that was the only car I found that would accommodate 8 (beside the big regular fullsize van). To make a long story short, he didn’t adjust the price to a minivan. Minivan is much cheaper than the premium SUV. This guy had the personality of a «used car salesman».He pulled a fast one on me. He added some optional insurance I didn’t ask for. The price I rented online was $ 181 with tax and everything but the invoice came out to $ 261. Unfortunately, I was in a rush to get out of there that I didn’t check my receipt. However, when I returned it, I questioned it and all I was told, by the Manager, was that she was going to talk to him about it but didn’t offer to adjust the rate.
His name is LEONARDO. He is at the SFO rental. Beware of him… I just called Budget customer service and made a complaint… They adjusted my bill to what it should have been originally… Never again would I rent anything at the SFO airport car rental… these guys get commission every time they sell you an option.

I did an online booking and called a week prior to confirm. glad I did since they said they don’t have a truck even though I have a reservation. they just keep saying that nothing is guaranteed.

Here’s the story. Flew into SFO, and planned to fly out again later in the day. No luggage, just carry-​ons. Car rental was prepaid online. Just had to go through the prepaid priority line, pick up the keys, the space number for our vehicle, and we would be on our way.
Nothing ever really works out how you plan.
We’re the third party in line, and my friend keeps looking over at the long walk-​up line and congratulating himself for paying online ahead of time. Little did we know we would be standing there for nearly an hour. The long line for non-​prepaid people, which would fill up whenever the AirTrain came through, completely cleared at least six times.
They had one clerk delegated to the prepaid line, five for the walk-​ups. We weren’t allowed to be helped by those other five when they were free, because, oh yeah we’re prepaid and we have our own «express line» that isn’t moving.
The prepaid counter worker was incredibly annoying, wanting to make small talk over every item she had to ask.
Agent: «How much luggage would be in the car?»
Friend: «None.»
Agent: «None?! Like why not?»
Friend: «We’re only here for a day.»
Agent: «WOW! I would totally have brought like a few bags or something. Like I remember when I was going to …»
Don’t get me wrong. Small talk can be a pleasant way to pass the time, but if you can’t multitask by working at the same time, just ask your questions, give us the keys, and we’re out. She completely stopped working to talk at us, which she did with the other parties as well. Apparently she was also from San Diego, so she felt the need to take a break from completing our session to speak extensively of her SoCal pride and how hard it is to be her in San Francisco.
Again, small talk can be nice, but we’d already been waiting a long time, were exasperated, mentioned repeatedly that we were only there for a day and that we were on a time constraint.
Now to touch on a bit of an elephant in the room. I realize that I’m not thin, and that my friends aren’t exactly anorexic either. So she starts repeatedly giving us this, «Like … I think you guys might like MORE room … because you know … «argument full of awkward pauses (while giving the raised eyebrows and left-​tilted head wag) with the persistence of a telemarketer, trying to get us to pay more and «upgrade» to a larger vehicle.
We were already getting a four-​door sedan, which was just going to sit in a parking garage all day anyway (we went over this with her several times during the round of small talk where she asked what we were doing in town), so my friends took this as a veiled insult.
When we brought back the car before our return flight their system was down and they couldn’t register my friend’s $ 100 deposit or the fact that he filled up the tank, so they wouldn’t waive the gas fee. Nice.

I rented a car from Budget on the east coast for what I thought was a good deal — only to find when I returned the car that they added on over $ 117 in fees, etc — that I wasn’t expecting. When I called to ask about this — all they would say is that I signed the agreement and that they could charge me that amount. They had my credit card and really there was nothing I could do. Twas a bait and switch — and I want to warn all that Budget does this type of thing — all the time.

I rented a 10 foot moving truck ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE for 10 am on May 30. The day before my big move, which involved a move from SF all the way to San Diego, they call me and let me know, oh, by the way, we won’t have your truck ready until 1pm. 3 hours is a huge difference when you’re driving 10 hours across the state.
Then I go to pick up my truck, and they tell me that they don’t have a 10 foot truck, just a 16 footer. Which, so nice of them, they’ll give me for the same rate. Oh how generous, do you also want to help me drive this larger behemoth through tiny SF streets, and pay the extra gas this thing is going to guzzle?
And then, the folks at SF Mini Storage tell me they are only authorized to give me a 10% discount on my rental, and that I need to call Customer Service, who’s closed for the next 3 days.
Just got off the phone with Kyle at Customer Service, who said the requisite «I’m sorry to hear that» and offered $ 12 back from the $ 500 I paid them for the truck. Wow, thanks. And he also let me know that when I reserve a 10 foot truck at 10am on 5÷30÷10, that’s NOT a guarantee. That’s just your request. Oh, well why don’t you say that when I’m making my plans 1 month in advance?
STAY AWAY FROM BUDGET RENTAL MOVING TRUCKS. Moving is stressful enough without their fake reservation system.

I rented a car from Budget from the San Francisco International Airport. I rented it for one month. For the past four days, I have been trying to extend my rental. I called the Budget national phone number and was told to call the Budget Office at the San Francisco Airport. After calling the number provided, I was transferred to the National number once again. Again, the National Budget person said only the local Office can extend a contract over thirty days. I called back to the Budget Office at the San Francisco Airport and left a voice mail with the duty manager, Mr. Yee. As of this date, no return phone calls and no rental extension. They say you get what you paid for but I paid over 1,200 for this rental and I would like to keep the car and give Budget money.
Conclusion, don’t rent from Budget. I am returning the car when due and walking over to Hertz to give them my business. NEVER AGAIN!

I hate these people more then I hate Rachel Ray.
I learned a valuable lesson about straying from my long time love affair with Hertz.
Seriously think about these dudes when you are trying to save a few bucks over the other cats in the game.
I wasted an hour and half in line and a half hour at the counter.
Thank god for smart phones. I was about two minutes from going ballistic.
