I contacted this accountant with no expectations. I had never needed a CPA before, and thought they were pretty much all suit-​ish types who got your taxes done with robotic intensity — sort of like a calculator.
Enter, Brian. He’s young and enterrtaining, but don’t think he doesn’t know his stuff! It runs in the fam apparently, because his dad sits right there in the office with him. I kind of like the idea of trusting my money to an «all in the family» type of biz that has stood the test of time.
My taxes were actually fairly simple this year, but I learned the fine art of the write-​off and whoa, Brian was helpful in that department. He took the time to explain every category and make sure I had a good understanding of what may and may not apply, and how it would effect the end result.
He also helped me analyze my overall financial situation by going over the benefits of having a substantial savings and a 401k. Finance 101, anyone? Oh yeah, I never took that class. Oops.

Brian continues to do a great job for us, this year was a breeze, and any prickly questions were answered with a seasoned knowledge. All around nice guy as well, and I’m not just saying that because of the mega refund we’ll be receiving…
