I began my studies in South Dakota with a «Granny» named Alice Smith. Alice had been practicing for over 50 years and had a wealth of experience from which to teach. In 1992 I received a 150 hour certificate in ‘Scientific Swedish Massage’ which included my membership into the American Massage Therapy Association. I later attended the Boulder School of Massage Therapy. Through their comprehensive, 1000 hour certification program I gained extensive knowledge in physiology and human anatomy.

My passion for massage therapy began shortly after high school in South Dakota. Judi Severson, my first weekly client, was severely afflicted with M.S. The benefits she received gave me immense fulfillment and the rewarding relationship we established altered my career path.

I completed an internship in a hospital-​based massage program becoming familiar with a variety of diseases and pathologies including: M.S., chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, R.I. and more. I have extensive experience with injuries involving whiplash, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, ACL and most soft tissue dysfunction.

My experience with spas, health clubs, hospitals, hospices, yoga studios, chiropractors, sporting events, on-​site corporate massage has taken me around the world and I even worked in Turkey. I love what I do. When I’m not massaging I’m probably traveling, continuing my education, chilling with CoCo or dusting off my fiddle in preparation for a little «Old Joe Clark».

I was bought a gift of three massages — none of which I ever managed to get. Tried three times to set up just one appointment — was canceled on either the day before or the day of (and once, he canceled 23 minutes AFTER the actual appointment time). Finally just asked for the refund and wanted to move on with my life.
Why am I writing then — with one star, no less? It would be because, turns out, Mr. Martin is not licensed as a certified massage therapist in California. At least not in 2013. This means that he cannot legally hold himself out to be a «CMT» in California.
Nor is he a member of the American Massage Therapy Association in 2013 (as his bio would have you believe). If you’re thinking of using him, you may want to consider whether you want to let someone with no valid certifications or legally required licenses into you home, to massage you.
If he’s a great masseuse, that’s wonderful for you but, just note, he cannot hold himself out as a CMT and you should consider whether what he charges is market value for unlicensed services. Good luck!

I went to Blaise after an auto accident. Before I saw him for the first time, I let him know I was seeking treatment for a car accident, I would pay him and need documentation to get reimbursed as the accident was the other driver’s fault. He agreed and has refused to provide the documentation I need for reimbursement. It’s been months and months. Blaise, please send me bills and soap notes and I’ll be happy to change my review.

Blaise is the best masseuse I’ve ever had. I just got back from a week of skiing and my back was a mess. Blake made everything feel better and he’s also a great guy to chat with. Definitely give him a call!

I’ve been meaning to write a review for Blaise for quite some time now! I had a great massage from Blaise and he gave me so many tips and pointers for things to do to help with my awful back knots. His was very attentive to my specific needs and worked on my knots at the perfect pressure. He always made sure to ask if the pressure was right and checked in with me to see where I needed more work. Blaise is very personable and passionate about what he does. I will definitely be back!

Found: best massage experience EVER with Blaise Martin.
My experience: all good and coming back for more. Cozy room, cool art, and a massage so good that I booked 3 additional appointments. He’s got the healing touch and a good bedside manner. I also appreciate that he customizes the music for each visit.

Greatest massage in this hemisphere! He has your best interests at heart, or at least he’s good at pretending he does. Set in therapist’s sunny living room with whimsical artwork collected or gifted from friends. Massage cream had a light floral/​herbal scent, not overbearing like the patchouli or lemongrass that intoxicates spas.
Certainly not your typical masseuse. No canned new age music. No platitudes. No soft-​headed mush. Edgy sense of humor. Can be chatty or silent, light as a feather or heavy as a jackhammer. I felt like a piece of dough being rolled back and forth at Boudin.
My favorite part is the blaze (or the blaise?), where he bulldozes a trail down a whole half of your body from head to toe all at once. Forearms? Rolling pin? Forearms plus rolling pin? Whatever it was, it was glorious to feel pressure everywhere instead of just one focused point. It triggered a montage of clouds rolling across the sky, winds buffing away sand dunes, flowing through silk sleeves of some girl who runs into the air and sails across a rainbow. Well, cue the cherubs. It was a moment that made me a believer.
But back on earth: His terrier comes in and sniffs around. He needs a bath. He was adorable but got in the way of sweet sweet slumber. Trying to shoo the dog away was comical, but I doubt dog haters and cynophobics will be so amused.
The foot reflexology bit at the beginning and end was too harsh for my taste, but I know eastern medicine is not about pleasing; it’s about fixing. Nonetheless I was happy he didn’t dwell on it long nor try to drive a blunt wooden stick through my foot like that chinese reflexologist I visited in Richmond.
After this whole rigmarole of pain and pleasure, the pinch in my lower back was gone for a while and my sprained ankle had loosened up that I could walk straight. My ankle is healing way faster this time (I do acrobatics, so sprains are a common occurrence for me). The calf massage must have restored some much-​needed circulation to the ankle. I’d go back in a heartbeat if I had the funds. Definitely good value for the money.

I have been to about eight different massage therapists. So far Blaise is the best I have found. He has the strength in his hands along with a great understanding of how to relieve muscular stresses and pains. I always leave feeling great. I’m giving him 5 stars because I can definitely recommend his services.

Worst massage experience of my life!
I will try to keep this review concise.
— Lack of drapes/​shades on huge windows makes me wonder who outside could see me undress since it was dark outside and the lights were on in his apartment
— Blaise did not check in with me at the beginning of the massage to see how the temperature of the room is, or if I liked the music, volume of music, etc. I am shy about proactively asking for stuff like this to be changed to my preference, so I didn’t.
— His dog barked for 1⁄3 of my massage; counterproductive to being relaxed and crazy awful to listen to
— He chose to do laundry while I received my massage, so I also got to listen to his washing machine run! Also, counterproductive to being relaxed
— He is charismatic, but I really didn’t want to listen to him complain about other patients of his or hear about his family etc the entire hour of receiving my massage. Massage time should mostly be quiet time.
— When my massage was complete, he told me I could use the sheet from the massage table to wipe myself down! No towel offer or anything.
— After the massage was over and I was finished getting dressed, he decided to try to sell me a 3 package massage deal. This was just beyond off putting to me. And uncomfortable since its just you and him one on one in his apartment. I didn’t purchase it of course, and it just was the icing on the cake after not being able to relax and unwind during the massage due to dog barking, washing machine running, and blake talking.
Blaise definitely knows how to give a deep tissue/​sports massage, and he is a nice guy and is likable (which is why its hard to write this review), but the whole experience was just really bad. I would not go back or recommend him for massage.

Blaise is simply the BEST. It’s true that he’s got the healing touch. I’ve been bothered by Sciatica and even without telling him my problem, he knew what was going on. I’ve had injuries and soreness from various activities like running, swimming, playing Tennis, Boxing, & kickboxing but Blaise helped me a lot to recover and be rejuvenated.

I have been seeing Blaise for all of my massage needs for over 13 years. Even though I’ve moved away from time to time, I always manage to come back to Blaise. He has the innate ability to pinpoint my troubled areas immediately and translate himself, his fingers, emotion into making it his mission to work out my stress. What can I say? The man is gifted! You would be remiss if you didn’t try him out. GO!

Tried Blaise Martin via Fresh Guide coupon special. He was excellent. One complaint was that the times he had available for us coupon holders were mostly early morning like 9am. There didn’t appear to be too many choice hours for late evening or weekends.
One warning is that his office is situated in the living room with curtains and drapes drawn wide open so not for the modest person.

Really top notch. I’ve had a lot of massages over the years to fix up my crappy rhomboids and lower back. Blaise did a really great job at focusing on areas that I specified were a problem. Additionally he really found some areas that I didn’t even know were an issue until I felt better afterwards. My hip had been stiff for some time which I attributed to arthritis. He worked out some kinks at the insertion points of several muscles and I’ll be darned if I wasn’t walking better immediately.
He has a very practical approach to massage therapy, not trying to hype up talk about «toxins» and other garbage. He instead focuses on practical techniques to prevent problems as well as providing therapy to what ails you, as painful as it can be …
He has a great taste in music too, and is willing to tailor the songs to your liking.
Overall a really great experience. I’ll be back next chance I get.

Blaise was laid back yet attentive and I felt comfortable with him and his little pooch right away. He gives a great deep massage and was especially attentive to a previous injury in my neck and shoulder, making a chronically painful area feel much more loose and relaxed, which is hard to do. No one else has been as comfortable working with me and my injury, let alone as effective. I walked out feeling great, and I now have a new friend named Blaise! :) I am recommending him to everyone I know!

I went in for my first massage with Blaise last Friday. It was the best massage I’ve had in quite some time. I needed him to work out some pretty bad knots in my back, and he did exactly what I asked for. My back felt immediately better, and after being sore (in a good way!) for a couple of days, I feel much less tension in my back this week. It wasn’t all about the pain either, the massage was both intense and very relaxing at the same time. He even played some of my favorite music and offered chocolates on the way out.
In addition, Blaise was very personable and professional, and put me at ease right away. I am looking forward to my next visit next month and will highly recommend him to all of my friends.

Blaise is awesome. I’ve had several massage therapists in the past and Blaise definitely knows what he’s doing. He’s very easy going, friendly, and professional. I was a crank (sorry Blaise), and he could have easily smothered me with his massage pillow, but instead he was still very pleasant and professional. I was very pleased with the results as he helped treat my arm (I have tennis elbow) and worked on some horrible knots in my shoulders and upper back. I was having a bad week and his session helped me feel better. If he can tolerate me and my semi-​melancholy moods, I hope he’ll have me back for a future session.

Blaise is an AWESOME healer. I received a massage from him and was on cloud nine for days! I had tons of tension in my shoulders and back. Blaise was able to address all of my trouble spots… seemingly without even having to «dig in» or «beat me up»… His massage was a PERFECT balance of deep tissue and relaxation. I felt calm, renewed and extremely grateful after my massage with him. I’m a massage therapist as well, so I’m pretty particular about who works on me… Blaise is a seasoned therapist, technical and amazingly intuitive. Highly recommended.
