Balboa Dental Care

I wrote a review on the other Unilocal page, but just came back from an appointment and want to say, again, how great Dr. Nguyen is. He is incredibly thorough, really gets in there, but with great care and attention to comfort. He never recommends unnecessary work, and totally trust him. Alice, his assistant, is great too. I’ve had cleanings and two fillings, and each time I feel like I’m visiting friends when I go in to see them. As someone who was previously petrified of dental appointments, I now look forward to it. And that’s saying a LOT.

The best dentist. Been to a lot of dentist that talk to you about personal life, count your teeth, take x-​rays needlesly, talk to you about oral hygiene — but then spend 20 min hardly cleaning your teeth.
Ted cleans your teeth, I mean he gets in there an gets that plaque off. He does his job — keep your teeth and gums healthy.
He does not recommend useless dental work.
If you actually want to get your teeth cleaned this is the place to go.

Before I came here I was in a dark place teeth-​wise. I would rather have had my teeth fall out than go to the dentist. Every dentist I had ever had was not gentle and hustled me for every penny. Telling me that he couldn’t give me a regular cleaning until I had a deep cleaning, blah, blah.
Anyway, I came here and everything is different. And awesome. All of my teeth are fixed. I have bridges and crowns, fillings and root canals, and my mouth is awesome. My smile is great and I have no cavities. Thank you Ted. You are the only dentist I’ve ever trusted and you make getting my face numb fun.

They are the best!!! Very honest and try to talk you out of getting unneeded work (replace old crowns, fix small chips, ect) unlike some other dentists that try and talk you into unneeded work.

My biggest fears were always that dentists will tell you you need fillings replaced or drill just to make an extra bucks.
Ted is the best dentist. I have been seeing him for many years. You can trust that he will do excellent work and only work that is necessary.

This is probably the best dentist in San Francisco. Dr Nguyen and Alice creates a very warm and friendly environment at their clinic.
I just came in for a cleaning for my coffee stained teeth and he removed every single stain off of all of my teeth. He took his time and worked very hard and professionally. When he was done cleaning my teeth, the only thing I can say was Thank You. He was working on me as if I was dying or something. I am still very amazed and very satisfied with his efforts.
I can’t wait until my next visit in 6 months!

Dr. Ted and Alice offer the best dental care possible in a city full of dental professionals! I have had all manner of dental services from Dr. Ted-​teeth cleanings, biannual check-​ups, fillings and a crown, and all were handled in an extremely professional and effective manner. I was initially impressed that Dr. Ted does his own cleanings, enabling him to get a first-​hand view of what your dental issues are. I was further impressed that he never recommends any treatment unless it is absolutely necessary-​no unneeded fillings here! He also constantly asks if you are feeling any pain, and thoroughly explains all procedures so that you feel comfortable with what he is doing. Moreover, he is absolutely passionate about cleanliness, an issue that is near and dear to me!
Additionally, his receptionist Alice is amazingly efficient, intelligent and kind, ensuring that all payment and insurance issues are taken care of quickly, and that all appointment requests are handled in a timely and polite manner. She also has a wonderful sense of humor!
Bottom line: you will not find better dental service for any price in San Francisco; making their fair prices stand out even more. As an added benefit, if you like Shanghai Dumplings, their office is only 3 blocks away from some of the best dumplings in the world-​a nice pre or post treatment option!

I’d ask my girlfriend to date my wonderful dentist in a heartbeat if I didn’t notice his ring! Dentist The is so attentive, gentle and sensitive with his treatment which puts my toothache at ease. Over the years, my teeth are well taken care of and being white and beautiful on the hands of Dentist The.

alice the receptionist is just the cutest thing, even if she does wear different colored contact lenses.

i may have finally found a dentist in the city.
great receptionist that was on top of things, very courteous, with reminders, and even a check up call when i was running late.
Dr. Nguyen was exceptionally professional in explaining matters of dental concern. a thorough cleaning and friendly personality.
with no insurance, the cost of a first time cleaning and four point ex-​ray cost me an economical $ 155. calling around beforehand, that is about the price other dentists in the area charged for a regular cleaning by itself.
so yeah, give em a call.

My visits to the dentist were always painful and bloody and usually entailed the dentist calling in others to marvel at some oddity inside my mouth.
But, not so with Dr Nguyen. He was super gentle and must surely have the hands of a surgeon to clean so thoroughly and to avoid my gums.
The equipment seemed on the newer side because he used this water-​spritzy thing between my teeth, which I’ve never seen before. I thought the head cushion was extra-​cushiony. (It’s the dentist, little things count.)
A really good magazine collection. Though, he seemed to have a stack of a periodical called Korean Policy? Dur?

There’s absolutely no other reason for me to come out this way for teeth cleaning but I do. It started because my mom knows his clan (or she says she does) so she’s like, «Go to my dentist!» so I go. He does a good job, and is friendly.
